"Couch" Time for Sarah: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

Sarah’s going to be sitting on Oprah's couch next month? Although it has not been confirmed by Palin Family Spokeswoman, Meg Stapleton, the Oprah Winfrey show released a press release yesterday, which stated that Sarah will be appearing as a guest on Oprah's show on Monday, November 16th- the day before her book "Going Rogue: An American Life" is scheduled to be released. While many, including myself view this as a brilliant move that will help Sarah reach a target demographic, many are criticizing Sarah and Oprah alike, which is unfortunate.

Sarah is a very savvy woman who not only easily connects with individuals, but also has a wonderful story to tell that I cannot wait to hear. Why would anyone be against an appearance of this sort? Well, while you and me are excited for this, members of the liberal left find themselves in an uproar. Last I checked, we live in America, the home of the brave and the land of the free. Maybe those who find themselves criticizing Sarah and Oprah have forgotten that there is such a thing as the First Amendment and Freedom on the Press. Isn't it funny how these same individuals, who claim to love Oprah's show, didn't voice any outrage when Oprah had Barack and Michelle Obama on her show? While I do not agree with Oprah politically, I did not voice my opposition because it's Oprah's show; therefore, she can have whomever she wants to have as guests.

Being the blogger and citizen journalist I am, I decided to investigate and find out just what was being said about Sarah's scheduled appearance. Not only was I shocked, but ashamed of what my fellow sex, in particular, was saying about Sarah. While there were a few positive comments, the vast majority of the comments were not only libelous, but also judgmental and cruel.

Not only were the majority of these individuals hypocritical and wrong in their assessment, but they are against any individual who does not agree with their Messiah. These individuals need to grow up and realize that not all individuals agree with them politically. There is such a thing as turning off the television. With their intense dislike of Sarah, it is not a far stretch to assume they are Obama supporters and fear Sarah because she is not afraid to speak out against the president. I find it humorous that these individuals call Sarah “dumb” and “stupid” and “uneducated,” yet how ironic that these hateful individuals are unable to properly spell when commenting- guess they’ve never heard of spell check and forgot about the lessons they learned in school about using proper grammar… What other explanation could there be for all of this hatred other than to conclude that they fear Sarah and what she might say? If Sarah were not a threat, these individuals would NOT be taking this hateful stance. Last time I checked, there was not nearly the amount of scrutiny for even the most controversial of Oprah guests, including the so-called pregnant man, Thomas Beatie. Yep, Sarah’s a definite threat to everything the liberal left hold most dear. They must really think we, conservatives, are stupid, but little do they know that we know the game they are playing.

The liberal left Oprah fans are wrong on so many levels in thinking they know Sarah Palin, the woman and Sarah Palin, the candidate. Unfortunately these individuals are not alone. Magazines such as People are also not getting the facts straight. You and I both know that Sarah NEVER refused to appear on Oprah. After endorsing Barack Obama, Oprah, NOT Sarah, said she would not being having any other political party’s candidates on her show. Last night, I received a tweet that People was reporting that, while Sarah refused to appear on Oprah’s show during the campaign, she is now having a change of heart. Here’s a portion of the bogus report from “People”:

“Oh, what a difference a multimillion-dollar book deal makes.

About a year after Sarah Palin famously turned down a campaign season appearance with talk show host – and major Barack Obama supporter – Oprah Winfrey, the former GOP vice presidential candidate has agreed to take her turn on the couch.”

Okay, either I was in a coma when Sarah refused to go on Oprah, or “People” is making this incident up. Since I’m perfectly healthy, “People” needs to correct its information and start reporting the truth. Perhaps they need to ask Oprah why she didn’t invite Sarah on during the campaign even though we all know why she didn’t. Oprah, like the liberal left during the campaign only had eyes for Obama. With this said, I must re-iterate that it is Oprah’s show, which entitles her to have any guest on that she wants to. As I write this, this bogus report still appears on the magazine’s website, which illustrates yet another example of the terrible state of today’s so-called media. Also, to elude that the only reason Sarah is sitting down with Oprah is to sell her book is outrageous. Where was this comment when Barack Obama went around doing book interviews for his books? Yep, the media just don’t get it!

As I mentioned above, there were a few positive comments on Oprah’s website. Nice comments like the following:

Ginnyzzz writes:

I quit watching Oprah and this website during the McCain/Obama presidential campaign. There were many reasons why I left, I did not think Oprah was fair to the other candidates, she only had eyes for Obama. One of the reasons I quit Oprah was her not giving Sarah Palin time on her show, after John McCain announced his running mate Sarah Palin. Finally Oprah wises up and Palin will be on her show! I think Sarah Palin is a strong role model in America for women "soccer moms" and all moms, and families. She and her husband Todd, and their beautiful children and grandchild were given a lot of crap from the hungry media but the Palin's stood strong. Their foundation is good. Good luck to Sarah Palin in the future and thank you Sarah for being a woman of truth and being there for the average Joe the plumber! I can't wait to read your book! Ps. We need Tort reform for doctors, We will lose doctors and nurses if this healthcare bill HR3200 goes through. Government stop spending our hard working tax paying Americans money! Pss. Go Team Palin!!! How can I get tickets for the Palin show?

Reagantman writes:

I could have joined in October to bash Oprah for supporting Obama. I didn't. The reason is this: despite whatever I may think of Oprah's politics, I respect her accomplishments as a businesswoman and a talk show host.

It's unfortunate that Sarah Palin can't be afforded the same respect by those who disagree with her.

The above comments illustrate the classiness of conservatives. Sarah, like Obama before her, deserves to be heard. I guarantee the individuals with the cruel comments above will be in the minority come show time, and mark my words: I predict right now that November 16th’s Oprah show will be one of the highest, if not the highest, rated Oprah show ever. Sarah has an amazing life-story that so many want to hear. People are sick of hearing the rumors and stories from anonymous McCain staffers, and people are sick of hearing the outrageous comments from people like Rick Schidmt and Meghan McCain. It’s Sarah’s turn to sit on the couch and dish, and like you, I couldn’t be more excited.

Sarah: Representing Us!!! A Post by Conservative Girl with Voice

Since it was announced that Sarah’s memoir would be released sooner than expected, it pretty much became a #1 bestseller within hours. This overnight sensation is further proof of the appeal that is Sarah Palin. While many claim that they cannot stand her, there is not a doubt in my mind that they know she is threat to President Obama and the agenda of the liberal left. This IS the reason why they fear her. They fear her because they know people listen to her. Sure, people may listen to other potential 2012 Presidential Republican Party nominees, but not nearly to the same degree. Sarah is much different than the Bobby Jindals, Mitt Romneys and Mike Huckabees of the GOP establishment because she is an outsider and not a member of the elite country club society. While many may define elitists as simply the rich, I do not. I define elitists as rich, powerful individuals who do not take into account the daily lives of normal-day Americans.

The liberal left is not the only group that is threatened by Sarah. The country–club wing of the GOP is too. They are threatened because they are finally realizing that no one is listening to their message because this wing of the party is not listening to average-day Americans. The average-day Americans who work hard, pay their bills and mortgage on time, and respect honesty from those who represent them. As an American, I don’t care if a politician attended a fancy college, or holds a prestigious degree. I want a politician who has a message I can really identify with, a message that excites me and makes me feel as if America can be better, stronger and more secure. Sarah is this individual. Although the men listed above are great Americans, they do not excite me.

I do not even like to refer to Sarah as a politician because to me, she is not the typical politician. I know she is a private citizen now, but even when she was governor and the Republican Party’s V.P. nominee, I always said “Sarah” when talking about her. During the election, I did not like referring to her as politician because I felt that did her an extreme disservice. Typical politicians talk the talk, but are unable to walk the walk. This is what is so wrong with politicians today. I’m sick and tired of politicians saying they are going to serve me when they do just the opposite. This is what separates Sarah from the typical politician. During the election, Sarah was the spark who ignited the GOP’s torch. Unlike other politicians, she excited us. I had never been excited until Sarah entered the national scene.

When Sarah speaks, I listen. I have never experienced this during my lifetime. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all about the great Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan had a knack for speaking to the people, not above them. Ronald Reagan had the God-given talent of being able to make people feel as if he understood their hopes and fears, and that he would do everything in his power to make Washington D.C. work for them. As conservatives, we don’t want the government to take care of us, but we do want them to listen to us and work for us. We elect politicians to make a difference. We have some great leaders in Washington D.C. who truly do care about us. Individuals like Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint, Mike Pence, John Boehner and Marsha Blackburn. There are probably others whom you can think of, but the point I am trying to make is that there seems to be a far greater amount of folks in D.C. who seem to be working against us instead of for us.

In speaking out on important issues, Sarah is speaking on our behalf. She is speaking for us, for our families and for our children. She has more guts and determination than the vast majority of politicians today. Many wonder: “What does she have to gain by doing this?” The answer is: “Everything.” Sarah has everything to gain because she is illustrating that one does not need a title to do great things. There are many normal Americans among us who confirm this. Individuals like Hannah Giles, James O’Keefe, and Anita Moncrief. These three strong, normal people are responsible for uncovering the corruption of ACORN. They are just like you and me. They are not powerful politicians; instead, they are powerful citizen journalists. This is what Sarah was talking about. The only criterion needed is the belief in yourself that you can make a difference.

With everything Sarah represents, I find it as no surprise that her memoir is #1 on the Barnes and Noble and Amazon Best Seller Lists, and I fully agree with Rush Limbaugh when he says he hopes Sarah sells five million copies. With her genuine personality, independent streak and can-do attitude, Sarah is not your typical republican. She knows what we are experiencing because she is or has experienced the same things. Just because she was governor, does not mean she is above the trials and tribulations that come in life. I agree with Sarah because I identify with Sarah.

As a young woman, I look up to her for everything she has accomplished. I look up to her because she represents a modern-day Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. I look up to her because she proved that you do not need to go to that fancy ivy-league school to be a successful leader. I look up to her because she is not afraid to be feminine and put on a skirt and a pair of heels rather than the typical, awful-looking pantsuit. I look up to her because she is a wife, mother and grandmother. Finally, I look up to her because she doesn’t give a damn about what others think of her. She is comfortable in her own skin and is not going to change for anyone. This is a woman I identify with, and this is a woman whom I hope to call my president come 2012.

Sarah: Going Rogue-Take That, Tina Fey: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

I cannot wait until November 17th. Why? Well, fellow readers, it is the day Sarah's memoir is going to be released to those of us on "Mainstreet U.S.A." Since her memoir will be released just in time for the holidays, you wont have to stress over what to get your loved one for Christmas this year. Good thinking, Sarah! You've just made this girl's Christmas shopping a whole lot easier.

According Harper Collins Publisher Johnathan Burnham, Sarah's memoir is entitled Going Rogue: An American Life and is about 400 pages in length. In regards to the memoir itself, Burnham said:

"It's her words, her life, and it's all there in full and fascinating detail."

As the quote above states, the memoir was in her own words. Too bad the same can't be said for our president's books. Burnham also said:

"Governor Palin has been unbelievably conscientious and hands-on at every stage, investing herself deeply and passionately in this project."

This doesn't surprise me at all. Sarah is a hard-working woman who is not afraid of a little hands-on work.We have seen her independent streak and her love for God, family, sports, nature and country- She is truly an every woman.

Not only are we going to get to hear Sarah's side of the story, the true side, but we are also going to learn about her amazing life story. Like you, I cannot wait to hear all about it. Sarah has captivated the hearts and minds of so many of us. Daily, I find myself praying for her and her family. She has touched so many of us in so many different ways. Yesterday, my good friend, Adrienne Ross, who writes the blog: "Motivation: Truth," celebrated her birthday. In celebrating, she wrote a fantastic blog post about the gifts Sarah Palin has given to her. None of these gifts can be purchased in a department store; instead, they are gifts like friendship, love for country and love for life. I encourage you all to read Adrienne's birthday post (www.motivationtruth.com) because you will see a woman who has grown and become more because of the blessings Sarah has bestowed upon her.

Like Adrienne, I too feel blessed with all Sarah has given to me. I'm sure you all feel the same way. There is something very special about a person who has the knack for being able to bring people together. Like Adrienne mentions in her post, I too have met people and started doing things I never dreamed I would be doing prior to August 29, 2008. I never thought I would become politically active, start writing a blog, become a regular guest on #1 Alaska Talk Radio Show Host Eddie Burke's amazing show, as well as contemplate a career in politics. These are just some of the cool experiences that I have been given. I thank God everyday for allowing me to be surrounded by such amazing Sarah supporters, whom I'm proud to call my friends. This is all because of Sarah. In everything she does, Sarah has shown us that she truly does care about America.

With Sarah's book, comes a new chapter in her life, a chapter that will forever give us her side of the story. Just as I have been blessed to come to know so many amazing individuals, I will be blessed with the chance to read a book about a woman whom I am so proud to defend and call a role model! I hope to be given the chance to meet her face-to-face one day. If I am fortunate enough to be given this chance, I will tell her not only how much she inspires me to want to be a better person, but also how she inspires me to want to do great things. Thank you Sarah, and on behalf of all of us, "have a great night and a pleasant tomorrow."

Sarah's Turn: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

It's over- my summer vacation, that is, but wow, what a summer! It is always fun to spend the summer at a place I have come to every summer since I was one. As my regular readers know, I'm talking about my family's cabin near Lake Tahoe in the Sierras, which has been in my family for nearly three decades. As an outdoor's girl, I love to hike, fish, sail, swim, and spend some time soaking up the sun and the clean, fresh mountain pine air. One of the best things about being up in the mountains is the feeling of being away from it all and just reflecting on life and everything I have learned and discovered. This summer, one of my favorite things that I really loved doing was packing my beach bag full of all the necessities like sparkling water, a towel, my ipod, and my trusty blackberry and heading down to the sandy shore of the lake. I'd walk down to the water's edge and just sit down and write-yes write. One of the things I'm going to miss the most about the cabin is the beautiful surroundings I was able to enjoy while writing each entry. How many other bloggers can say they blogged while soaking their feet in crystal clear lake water with a bald eagle circling the bright, blue sky above? The glorious beauty surrounding me inspired me to write, what I believe, to be my most honest, personal pieces yet. In a way, it was comforting to know that the peaceful lake was at my feet. The peace and serenity can be so enjoyable at times. God is so good!!! While I am a very social person and love my family and friends, I prefer to just have quiet around me as I write. I know I am not alone. Not only do many of you probably prefer to write in a peaceful surrounding, but Sarah does too. Just recently, Sarah's dad, Chuck, said Sarah is in a secluded place (he doesn't even know the location) working on her book. Like many of you, I am eager to read it, and no doubt it will be absolutely amazing. In her 45 years, Sarah has already lived quite a life full of wonderful and unique experiences. As we all know, her life dramatically changed within this past year. At this time last year, she had just gone from being a little-known governor to VP nominee, while balancing work, raising a family, preparing to become grandmother and sending her eldest child off to war- what a year. I'd say Sarah Palin had an unforgettable year.

At this time last year, many of us, including myself, were just getting to know this amazing woman. Now that we have gotten to know her, we await her book. Guess what, folks? It's HER TURN!!! Like you, I'm sick and tired of the media's distorted slime journalism. For far too many months, we have had to hear one false story after another. At one point, I was this close to throwing a high-heel at the TV, but decided my shoes, not to mention my TV were far too expensive, to waste on the biased media, so I just resorted to telling off my television. Sarah is finally going to be able to set the record straight about what her life has really been like! No more so-called Trig-truthers, campaign staffers and press to delude and use anonymous sources. Sarah is the source, the TRUE source. In typical Sarah fashion, I KNOW we'll get the straight talk, and I'm predicting her book will quickly become a New York Times Best Seller!!!

It is Sarah's turn to fight all the lies and smears that have been thrown her way. She will finally be able to set the record straight. It is sad what our media have become, and I say this as someone who studied jouralism in college and worked in a newsroom. (See my post entitled "Slime Journalism" for more on this topic.) I have a feeling Sarah, a former journalist, will devote part of her book to the sad state of today's media. This past presidential election changed the objective media we once knew. Instead of reporting the facts, they resorted to yellow journalism, the kind of stuff that you used to only read in tabloids like "The National Enquirer." This is why Sarah's story will be a breath of fresh air that is so needed to cleanse this polluted, political air.

So, while you may be missing your daily "Sarah fix," remember that Sarah is working hard on her own masterpiece. If it's quiet and seclusion that she needs and desires in order to write, let's give it to her. This is a woman who has so much to offer our great country. Not only has she restored my faith that America WILL one day be that shining beacon of light once again, but that her voice is the voice of reason, her message is the true message of change. So write on, Sarah, write on!!!
