From a Fairbanks Farewell to Awaking a Nation

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

A year ago today, I was in Fairbanks, Alaska as Governor Sarah Palin bid farewell to leading the state she dearly loves. I saw the crowd gathering, many holding signs or wearing shirts broadcasting their gratefulness to the woman who had served them so faithfully. I also saw, approached, and engaged in a spirited debate with people who arrived for no other reason, it appeared, than to demonstrate their disapproval of the Governor.

From July 3rd when I heard the news that she would be stepping down, to July 26th as I prepared to attend that final farewell, I had prayed that Governor Palin would not look back but would have peace in the knowledge that she had, in fact, made the right decision. That afternoon, I watched Governor Palin serve the people of Alaska hot dogs and a smile for the last time as their governor. Just taking it all in, I knew intuitively that she had no regrets. I knew that she knew that it was, as the saying goes, all good. And that was enough for me.

Taking to the stage with her black jacket and blue jeans, she displayed a calm that comes only from a blessed assurance that your steps are being ordered. In that quiet confidence, she was able to shut up a lunatic in the crowd, tell the media not to mess with Sean Parnell's children, and embrace her own who were there with her on the stage.

At the conclusion of Sean Parnell's swearing in, while her parents and some friends still lingered on the premises of Pioneer Park, Governor Palin was nowhere to be seen. She had quickly slipped away, leaving the new governor to enjoy his moment--and his cake. She left and embarked on a new chapter of a book of her life still being written. Only history will fully tell the tale.

I cannot remember exactly what I was thinking as I put my head to pillow hours later. I do remember my mind being fixed throughout the day on the concept of new beginnings. This theme has stuck with me, and not just for the Governor. That precise moment in time marked newness for so many of us as we have literally witnessed a story of epic proportions that has not lost its savor but has picked up momentum. How many of her supporters would have ever touched base had not we taken this walk with her? How many Mama Grizzlies would still be hibernating? How many policies of this Obama administration would be going unchallenged? How many of us would be personally involved in taking back our country? To be honest, the likely answers to those questions are troubling.

The haters thought they had her. As much of a sacrifice as it was, however, Governor Palin disarmed them. And in so doing, she's accomplishing more than many imagined possible. Rather than answering bogus ethics complaints, arguing with state legislators hell-bent on fighting her at every turn, and succumbing to the full-court press waged against her, she is battling the political insanity of this current administration, fighting for the soul of America, and inspiring a generation.

She ended that day with this tweet:

Thank you Alaska! I love you. God bless Alaska. God bless the U.S.A.

Sarah Palin: Journey into the Media’s Heart of Darkness

Governor Palin today addressed via FaceBook Note how the members of Journolist were acting as partisan political operatives.
How ironic that on a day when we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, The Daily Caller released 15 pages of JournoListers’ email exchanges about a dark and demented conspiracy regarding my son, Trig.

It’s tough to fittingly describe these numerous members of the mainstream media who actively engaged in the debate about this conspiracy back when I was first introduced as John McCain’s running mate, and it’s impossible to legitimize any “prominent” media publication that continues to traffic in this bizarre narrative today. It wasn’t just a few fringe characters in that JournoList discussion. It included writers for major newspapers, magazines, and online news publications. Those participating in this immature exchange in attempts to plant seeds of doubt and falsely accuse even included a famous historian.

This JournoList exchange exposes the warped nature of today’s media, thus explaining why many of us are forced, in fairness to the public, to utilize other mediums to communicate until the mainstream media wakes up and begins respecting the public’s intelligence and desire for truth in reporting. There is a sickness and darkness in today’s liberal media. With revelations like the JournoList exchanges, may the light keep shining to expose the problem.

It’s always darkest before the dawn. My hope, therefore, is that today, marking the anniversary of our nation’s attempt to show respect for our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters with special needs, will also mark the beginning of a new, more respectful discourse among members of our media who at least aspire to be fair and objective.

Sick Puppies Attack Gov. Palin Con't

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Governor Palin recently used the term "sick puppies" to describe some members of a group that went by the name Journolist. The Daily Caller has been drawing attention to the group the last few days, revealing that there was a collaborated conspiracy by these media members to swing the 2008 election in Obama's direction by targeting Governor Palin. Read more about that here and here.

The truth is coming out, and already it has shown the lamestream media as the obsessively partisan, corrupt, shameless hacks they are. But it's not over. In fact, this exposure may just be in its beginning stages. Fifteen pages of emails among Journolisters reveal that there are those within the group who were captivated by the insane Trig Truther bull that persists to this day. I am glad to see that there were some who dismissed it as the bogus conspiracy it was, but still others really bought into the nonsense, toying with the lie that Trig is really Bristol's son, discussing a cover-up, wondering about medical records, examining photos of Governor Palin's belly. "Sick puppies" is too kind for some of these people.

Here's an example of one such wacko exposed by The Daily Caller:

Kathleen Geier
Aug 30, 2008, 5:20pm

When I first heard this story, I thought it was preposterous. (And btw, a scenario similar to this lurid tale occurred last season on Desperate Housewives). And maybe I really am losing it, driven over the edge at last by my hatred of all things Republican, but at this point I’m starting to believe it.

There are a lot of things about the official story that just don’t add up.

[...]

Give the Daily Kos post a read. And if you think I’m heading deep into tin foil hat territory, give me a good hard slap across the face, and a Cher-in-Moonstruck-like “Snap out of it!” please.

I don't know if anyone provided that slap, but she obviously qualified for it--and she did ask. That's just one email out of fifteen pages worth. Read them yourself here.

The reason behind the attacks on Palin? It's the same reason behind the attacks today: fear. And she had them trembling right from the beginning, the very day Senator McCain announced her to America. That fear rose considerably during her RNC speech.

Jonathan Strong of The Daily Caller writes:

Sarah Palin’s speech to the 2008 Republican convention impressed more than a few doubters, including even some members of Journolist, an online community for liberal journalists.

“This speech is gangbusters,” wrote Ari Melber of the Nation. “Her tone is pitch perfect.” Adele Stan of the Media Consortium agreed: “Palin is golden.”

It was clear just how good Governor Palin was, so one Journolister attempted to quell the fear that was developing. However, the Governor's speech did shake things up:

“People get a hold of yourselves!” Tomasky wrote to his fellow Journolisters. “It’s a very good speech with good lines. But there’s very little substance.”

Rebecca Traister of Salon wrote to say she was grateful for Tomasky’s message. (“This is a reassuring sentiment, since at the moment, I feel like we’re in End Times.”) But the rest of the country apparently didn’t agree. Polls a few days later showed Obama’s lead in the race had narrowed to virtually nothing.

This is where the lamestream media began to really focus in on a concerted effort to derail the McCain/Palin ticket:

Palin’s speech had been remarkably effective. This troubled members of Journolist. On Sept. 8, 2008, five days after Palin’s national debut, some members of the group discussed producing coordinated propaganda designed to wound Palin and boost Obama.

[...]

Mitchell replied: “Fair enough! But it seems to me that a concerted effort on the part of the left partisan press could be useful. Why geld ourselves? A lot of the people on this list work for organizations that are far more influential than, say, the Washington Times.

“Open question: Would it be a good use of this list to co-ordinate a message of the week along the lines of the GOP? Or is that too loathsome? It certainly sounds loathsome. But so does losing!”

Ezra Klein of the Washington Post, the founder of Journolist, quickly jumped in: “Nope, no message coordination. I’m not even sure that would be legal. This is a discussion list, though, and I want it to retain that character,” he wrote.

Mitchell replied: “Fair enough, Ezra! The list is great at as it is and I didn’t mean to suggest anything out of bounds. I am still curious about the reluctance of the left media to organize, though.

[...]

Yet almost immediately after writing these words, Roberts sounded somewhat less than independent himself, referring to the Obama campaign as “we”: “I’m not bashing,” he wrote. “I’m guilty too. I just despair. We’re going to lose again, for all the same damn reasons.”

Ed Kilgore of the Progressive Policy Institute, another supposedly “independent analyst,” did the same, even outlining specific talking points: “It requires no particular strategic genius or ‘message coordination’ to recognize that we and the Obama campaign have the next two months to demonstrate that McCain and Palin represent the status quo party, the status quo ideology, and status quo policies,” he wrote.

So a few level-headed people seemed to exist among the group. However, others were completely wacked out in their desire to get Barack Obama elected. Todd Gitlin of Columbia University was determined to push his agenda no matter what. He, a man responsible for training up-and-coming journalists, lapsed into speech resembling that of a dictator hell-bent on brainstorming his inferiors:

While other members of the group debated whether to coordinate a pro-Obama message – or, more precisely, whether to concede that such a message was being coordinated — Todd Gitlin of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism had already made up his mind. Gitlin, whose job is to train the next generation of America’s most elite journalists, wrote this impassioned plea on behalf of the Obama campaign:

“On the question of liberals coordinating, what the hell’s wrong with some critical mass of liberal bloggers & journalists saying the following among themselves:

“McCain lies about his maverick status. Routinely, cavalierly, cynically. Palin lies about her maverick status. Ditto, ditto, ditto. McCain has a wretched temperament. McCain is a warmonger. Palin belongs to a crackpot church and feels warmly about a crackpot party that trashes America.

“Repeat after me:

“McCain lies about his maverick status. Routinely, cavalierly, cynically. Palin lies about her maverick status. Ditto, ditto, ditto. McCain has a wretched temperament. McCain is a warmonger. Palin belongs to a crackpot church and feels warmly about a crackpot party that trashes America.

“These people are cynical. These people are taking you for a ride. These people are fakes. These people love Bush.

“Again. And again. Vary the details. There are plenty. Somebody on the ‘list posted a strong list of McCain lies earlier today. Hammer it. Philosophize, as Nietzsche said, with a hammer.

“I don’t know about any of you, but I’m not waiting for any coordination. Get on with it!”

In an interview, Gitlin conceded he was noting the “features of McCain and Palin most worthy of highlighting towards the end of defeating them.” He said he had never advocated “bending facts” to get Obama elected.

Read the rest here.

Gitlin can say whatever he wants now. The emails reveal the truth: he was one sick puppy, amidst many others, who decided to use his influence to shape an election.

And now that the truth is out, what will be the retribution? Surely it's forthcoming, right?

North to the Future: A Year Later

Governor Palin entered a brave new world a year ago today, with a leap of faith, turning over her gubernatorial powers to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell. Supporters were simultaneously excited and fearful about what lied ahead. Her enemies chortled "quitter," with glee. Gov. Palin's administration had been bombarded with frivolous ethics complaints and lawsuits, which hamstrung state business.

Dual Rationale: Simple and Brilliant

The dual rationale behind her resignation was as simple as it was brilliant: first, the nonsense would stop under quiet, Transactional Leader Gov. Parnell who would continue Gov. Palin's legacy. Second, free of the Governor's Office, Gov. Palin could better serve our nation and make a bigger impact. Indeed, both objectives have been fulfilled. The complaints did stop, though a few came in after she left office. Gov. Parnell is continuing the Palin legacy.

Her Promise
"With this decision I will be able to fight even harder for you – for what is right and for the truth. And I have never felt that you need a title to do that. So, as we all move forward together, let us vow to keep championing Alaska and to advocate for responsible development and smaller government and freedom."

When I took the oath to serve you, I promised to steadfastly and doggedly guard the interests of this great state – like that grizzly guards her cubs, as a mother naturally guards her own. I will keep that vow wherever the road may lead.
A Year of Accomplishments

As a private citizen:
  • Gov. Palin shaped and defined the debate on ObamaCare, Cap and Tax, and national security via her Facebook page.
  • She endorsed numerous candidates for governor, Senator, and Representative, via Facebook, Twitter; and in many cases campaigned with her endorsed candidates. Even the liberal mainstream media has taken notice of the fact that over 75% of her endorsed candidates won their elections where elections have been held thus far.
  • SarahPAC is a political and financial powerhouse.
  • She is building political capital and power, which will enable her to re-define the GOP as a Reagan Conservative party and pave the way to a possible 2012 Presidential run.
  • Gov. Palin achieved one million supporters on her Facebook page around the time her book tour began and is now closing in on two million. Her Twitter page has over 205,000 followers.
  • She has been on a public speaking speaking circuit, which began in Hong Kong and has taken her all over the United States.
  • She authored Going Rogue: An American Life, which was Number One on the New York Times Best-Seller's List for six weeks; presided over a three-week long nationwide book tour where supporters camped out in front of book stores for over 24 hours before each event in all kinds of weather. Going Rogue is going paperback on August 24, 2010.
  • Gov. Palin is working on a second book: America by Heart : Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag due for release on November 23, 2010.
  • She became a Fox News Consultant
  • Gov. Palin began a special series: Real American Stories
  • She is working on a mini-series: Sarah Palin's Alaska being filmed for TLC.
Last year, we said that having fulfilled her agenda in 31 months, Gov. Palin's purpose as a Transformational Leader was served. We wrote that placing a Transactional Leader in charge of maintaining her legacy, while she climbed a new mountain was the right move. A year later, Gov. Palin surpassed even our wildest expectations.

North to the Future. We look forward with excitement at the journey ahead.
