One week and a little more than eight hours after launching her official Facebook Page, Bristol Palin already has 5,000 friends. The milestone was achieved September 28, 2010 at 2325 (11:25 PM) EDT.
Bristol, who is Gov. Palin's eldest daughter, launched her page on Tuesday, September 21 at 1442 (2:42 PM) EDT. She is a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, and an advocate against teen pregnancy for the Candies Foundation. Her performance of the Quickstep with Ballas propelled Bristol to the Week Three Round of Dancing with the Stars, which airs Monday, October 4, 2010.
An Anchorage judge yesterday issued a restraining order barring Pennsylvania resident Shawn R. Christy from contact with either Gov. Palin or Kristan Cole, Heather A. Resz of the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman reported. Christy's alleged stalking goes back over 16 months when Cole expressed concern over emails he had been sending. According to Cole, Christy sent proof of weapons purchases, years outdated pictures of himself, and expressed intent to buy a one-way ticket to Alaska. The precipitating factor was a call he made from a cell phone with a 907 (Alaska) area code and his verbal indication that he was in the area.
Resz reported that Wasilla's Police Department have developed a comprehensive safety plan for both the Palin and Cole families, for which they are grateful.
Some of Christy's contact with Cole can be seen on his Facebook wall, which also shows he lost his job at Hazleton Oil.
Resz reported that Cole said she and, "Gov. Palin want women to know that they don’t have to live in fear if they are being stalked. There are avenues to get help. Staying silent doesn’t help anybody.”
