Insight From a Cool Alaskan: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

My good friend, Eddie Burke, is not only the #1 Alaska talk radio host, but an awesome writer as well. Eddie recently wrote an article about Sarah from an Alaskan's point of view. Since I am not an Alaskan, I am always on the look out for articles written by Alaskans because they know Sarah and their state better than anyone else; after all, Sarah was their governor. I have to admit that I am jealous that Alaska had a governor with such integrity and sheer grit. As a Californian, I am outraged at the RINO governor the people of my state have to put up with. My fellow Californians know what I am talking about. I did vote for my governor because he promised to clean up the corruption of California and make it a pro-business state once again. As I soon found out, my governor did not live up to his promises, and our state continues down that familiar "politics as usual" path. The people of Alaska were so blessed to have a governor like Sarah. She not only cleaned up the corruption in Alaska, but unlike my "governator," she actually did "talk the talk and walk the walk."

As we all know, Sarah had high poll numbers throughout the majority of her time as governor. When John McCain selected Sarah to be his running mate, Sarah literally went from a little-known governor of the largest state to a virtual rock star. When she
stepped out onto that stage in Ohio and began to speak, I saw what my dad and mom saw in Ronald Reagan when they had him as their governor and later their president. Sarah simply has that special something. She IS the modern-day Ronald Reagan of my generation. Individuals like Sarah don't come along everyday, and I am so glad that I am able to experience the same excitement that my parents experienced during the Reagan years. I pray that my children will have the pleasure of calling Sarah, President Palin.

Eddie Burke has known Sarah and her family for years. I am so happy to have gotten to know him too. I respect him greatly because he does everything for the right reasons. Like Sarah, he is not afraid to stand up and speak out for what is right and just. On his show, he is not afraid to tell it like it is, even when the truth may hurt a little bit. No wonder his show is #1 in AK! In Eddie's most recent article for Red County, Eddie not only writes about Sarah from an Alaskan's perspective, but he also goes into detail about the reasons behind the hate Sarah is receiving from the left in Alaska, which has a lot to do with her decision to be John McCain's running mate. Eddie also writes about the extreme steps the hateful, vengeful Alaskan bloggers took and continue to take in an effort to bring Sarah down. This article is a must-read because it will give you a lot of insight as to why many of the attacks were thrown at Sarah after she was tapped as the VP nominee. I have decided to post the article in its entirety below for you to read. I encourage you to click here to visit Red County and check it out. While you're there, make sure to leave a message of encouragement for Eddie. He is fighting the good fight, so make sure to let him know you stand with him. You can also leave a comment here on my site as well. Eddie is a regular reader of Conservative Girl with a Voice, so he will definitely see your message. I am also pleased to announce that Eddie has a greed to post articles on Conservative Girl with a Voice, and I couldn't be more thrilled! Thanks, Eddie!

I hope you enjoy the following article as much as I did:

As We Say in Alaska, "Go Sarah, Go!"

By Eddie Burke
12/01/09

Some people in the Lower 48 might be saying," what is with you people up in Alaska?"

You might be wondering why people in our State would kick Sarah Palin around like she's the enemy? Also, you must think some of us are crazy to file 20 Ethics complaints on our former Governor that were all dismissed? If you ask me, these people who filed the complaints are crazy!

Prior to Sarah running with McCain, her popularity in Alaska had peaked at about 92%. Sarah had bi-partisan support on Oil and Gas legislation; she signed into law new ethics laws. She actually had Democrats that were praising her. She was a "Rock-Star" in Alaska. Sarah was the most liked Governor in the nation.

But then, a knock at the door or the proverbial phone call came. "Hello," Said Sarah. "Hi, this is John McCain." Wow! Who could turn that down? But Sarah would never predict what would follow in the months and year to come. Sarah Palin would become Democrat enemy #1.

As the McCain-Palin campaign went forward, Sarah's poll numbers in Alaska went down. Sarah gave McCain the needed bump with that slam-dunk speech at the Republican National Convention. All those partisan Alaskan Democrats who liked her before were now peeling off. As Sarah ramped up the attacks on Barack Hussein Obama about his associations with known Felons, such as Bill Ayers, Democrats around the nation and here in Alaska took it personal.

Well, Sarah and McCain lost. Most conservatives never thought McCain was a good candidate to begin with and we didn't like him much, but we liked Sarah Palin and she was his only hope. Like all Presidential elections, it's never about the VP; it's about the candidate for President.. It was about John McCain, but he blew it-- not just during the campaign, but through his years of votes as a Senator.

Sarah Comes Back Home

The evening Sarah landed in Anchorage; there must have been 800-1000 people to greet her outside at the airport. For 800-1000 people to battle the cold and darkness in Alaska was considered a tremendous gathering. I know; I was there.

Within only a year after Sarah returned to Alaska, twenty ethics complaints in total would be filed. Most Alaskans thought these women were crazy after 7 or 8 had been filed and dismissed.

Bloggers made money at being "Palin Haters." They lied about many things, including an FBI Investigation, but when caught lying they never would apologize to the Governor. The FBI made an unprecedented announcement stating the FBI never did and was not investigating Sarah. But there was still no apology. All the investigations against Sarah were dismissed. Nothing alleged was true. It was all just politics and a way to get back at her. For what, you ask? She accepted a request to be the Vice Presidential nominee for the United States of America.

It was a heavy price to pay for wanting to serve your Country. Her children were thrashed and maligned. The attacks continued on the Palin's in a way that no political family has ever encountered or has ever witnessed. And liberals say they are so tolerant.

I, like most Alaskans, was embarrassed for what a few in our State would do to bring down Sarah Palin. They cost the state millions and more, but they never cared. They stalled Government, but they never cared. The onslaught of complaints literally brought our Alaska Governor and state to a halt and embarrassed the rest of us. Governor Palin stepped down to let the state move forward. She did the honorable, selfless thing.

Alaska is great state and populated with people who love our Country. Alaskans are mostly center-right people and believe in the freedom that comes with living in Alaska. We love to hunt, fish and experience the great outdoors. We struggle with the long, cold winters to be away from the urban problems that are consistent with many places in the lower 48. We depend on snowmobiles and four wheelers like many of you depend on cars and trucks. In many places in Alaska, these ATV's are the only connection from village to village. We understand the need to have Alaska's vast natural resources developed responsibly.

Because of Sarah Palin, most American families know more about Alaska today than ever before. You know we have a wealth of resources including oil, gas and mining that need to be developed and delivered to markets for your consumption.

Don't believe the liberals and "Palin Haters" who say Alaskans can't develop these resources safely. They know nothing about Alaska, they are just obstructionists who would rather you ride the bus than drive your car. Yes, Sarah Palin paid a heavy price for wanting to serve and for accepting the call. But America is better off she did. And as her father, Chuck Heath, recently said on my radio program, "You have not seen the last of Sarah Palin."

As we say in Alaska, "Go Sarah, Go!"

Sarah Palin Demands Obama Boycott Copenhagen And Investigate Climategate: Obama Abruptly Announces He Will Postpone Trip

Sarah Palin is living in Obama’s head, rent free. This happened so fast I didn’t even have a chance to write about Sarah’s demands in the first place!

Knowing that Obama is about to sign away United States sovereignty and make us subservient to a board of communists who want to use the global warming hoax, the greatest lie ever told, to redistribute the world’s wealth, Sarah has demanded that Obama not only boycott the conference, but investigate the entire global warming lie.

Here’s what she has to say:

Mr. President: Boycott Copenhagen; Investigate Your Climate Change "Experts"

The president’s decision to attend the international climate conference in Copenhagen needs to be reconsidered in light of the unfolding Climategate scandal. The leaked e-mails involved in Climategate expose the unscientific behavior of leading climate scientists who deliberately destroyed records to block information requests, manipulated data to "hide the decline" in global temperatures, and conspired to silence the critics of man-made global warming. I support Senator James Inhofe’s call for a full investigation into this scandal. Because it involves many of the same personalities and entities behind the Copenhagen conference, Climategate calls into question many of the proposals being pushed there, including anything that would lead to a cap and tax plan.

Policy should be based on sound science, not snake oil. I took a stand against such snake oil science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population has increased. I’ve never denied the reality of climate change; in fact, I was the first governor to create a subcabinet position to deal specifically with the issue. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. But while we recognize the effects of changing water levels, erosion patterns, and glacial ice melt, we cannot primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes. The drastic economic measures being pushed by dogmatic environmentalists won’t change the weather, but will dramatically change our economy for the worse.

Policy decisions require real science and real solutions, not junk science and doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood that capitalizes on the public’s worry and makes them feel that owning an SUV is a "sin" against the planet. In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to "restore science to its rightful place." Boycotting Copenhagen while this scandal is thoroughly investigated would send a strong message that the United States government will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices. Saying no to Copenhagen and cap and tax are first steps in "restoring science to its rightful place."

- Sarah Palin

It really doesn’t get much simpler than that. One of the many lies Obama has told America, and the world, is that he wants to restore science to "it’s rightful place." It’s very good to see the Arctic Fox holding his feet to the fire.

Now obviously the Obama administration will spin this to no end, but I find it interesting that I first heard about this decision to "postpone" the trip while watching Friday’s Neil Cavuto Show on Fox News. The breaking news came only minutes after Sarah Palin’s demands were being discussed on the show!

No, I’m not implying they panicked after seeing Cavuto’s show and baled. After all, it’s been what,.....20 hours (?)......since Sarah first posted her demand? But it was certainly a funny coincidence.

I wonder if this will be global warming’s "death panels?"

Here’s the reporting from Fox:

President Obama on Friday abruptly altered the timing of his upcoming appearance at an international climate summit in Copenhagen, hoping to capitalize on steps by India and China and build a more meaningful political accord, the White House announced Friday.

"Based on his conversations with other leaders and the progress that has already been made to give momentum to negotiations, the president believes that continued U.S. leadership can be most productive through his participation at the end of the Copenhagen conference on Dec.18th," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a written statement.

"There are still outstanding issues that must be negotiated for an agreement to be reached, but this decision reflects the president's commitment to doing all that he can to pursue a positive outcome," he said.

The move means Obama will be at the summit on Dec. 18, considered a crucial period when more leaders will be in attendance, as opposed to his scheduled stop in Denmark on Wednesday on his way to Nobel Peace Prize events in Oslo.

It also means that Obama will be squeezing in a separate, 10th foreign trip before Christmas -- a record pace of travel for a first-year president

Look, I’m a hard liner on the global warming hoax. This greatest lie ever told has done incalculable damage to humanity. Entire industries have been destroyed, or rendered unprofitable, over this. People in third world countries are starving because we are turning food into a seriously crappy motor fuel. We’ve spent untold billions, if not trillions, of dollars because of this.

Quite frankly, if I were in charge, I would demand Mr Obama be detained, and arrested for treason the very minute he stepped onboard Air Force One to go to this phony baloney "climate conference."

There will be a lot more to come on this subject. For now, here’s a bit put together about one of the worst liars in this greatest lie ever told:

Pathetic: Barack Obama Refused To Be Photographed With F-22 Fighter

Reason number 739, 612 that Sarah Palin will make a better Commander-In-Chief than Barack Obama, who recently called our brave troops "a nice photo op."

This is about as pathetic as it gets. On his recent trip to the far east, where he would not only grovel to the Chinese, but take time to be the only head of state to bow to the Japanese Emperor, Obama stopped off at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska so Air Force One could be refueled, and he could use those brave men and women as a photo op while he held what amounted to a campaign rally.

The F-22 is the pride of Elmendorf, as it should be. But you see, the Obama administration has worked very hard to kill the F-22 program. Reminds us of Jimmy Carter, when at the height of the cold war, he was cancelling advanced weapons programs right and left, so he could throw money at social engineering projects, such as the Community Re-Investment Act, that would directly lead to the huge sub-prime mortgage crash that has our economy in shambles as this is being written, and the establishment of the Department of Education, which has led to the massive decline in the quality of education in America.

So anyhow, Carter 2.0...errr....I mean Obama, is so pathetically petty he doesn’t want to be seen with the most technologically advanced fighter on the planet, a wonderful example of American technology, sophistication, and engineering prowess,... not to mention an incredibly strong symbol of America’s strength,..... because he is the one of the ones who killed it.

From Foreign Policy:

When President Obama spoke to troops at Alaska's Elmendorf Air Force Base last month, the unit there parked a shiny new F-22 fighter plane in the hangar. But according to multiple sources, White House aides demanded the plane be changed to an older F-15 fighter because they didn't want Obama speaking in front of the F-22, a controversial program he fought hard to end.

"White House aides actually made them remove the F-22-said they would not allow POTUS to be pictured with the F-22 in any way, shape, or form," one source close to the unit relayed.

Stephen Lee, a public affairs officer at Elmendorf, confirmed to The Cable that the F-22 was parked in the hangar and then was replaced by an F-15 at the White House's behest.

The airmen there took offense to the Obama aides' demand, sources told The Cable, seeing it as a slight to the folks who are operating the F-22 proudly every day. They also expressed bewilderment that the White House staff would even care so much as to make an issue out of the fact that the F-22 was placed in the hangar with the president.

A White House official, commenting on background basis, told The Cable that yes, there were discussions about which plane or planes would be in the hangar, but that they were not meant as an insult to the pilots and other personnel who work on the F-22. The official couldn't elaborate on why the White House aides felt it necessary to get involved in the matter in the first place.

The official pointed to Obama's speech to the troops that day, where he praised both the 90th Fighter Squadron, known as the "Dicemen," and the 525th Fighter Squadron, the "Bulldogs," both of which operate the F-22.

Even so, the Air Force personnel thought it odd the White House wanted to display the older plane rather than the more advanced plane that, in the eyes of its supporters, represents the latest and greatest in American aviation.

The Obama administration fought hard and successfully to cut off production of the F-22 at 187 planes, a number Defense Secretary Robert Gates endorsed but that was hundreds less than originally planned and about half of the 381 planes Air Force leadership lobbied hard for in the years preceding Obama's inauguration.

"It's one thing to be against further production; quite another to slight the folks who are flying them in the operational world," one source said, adding that "the F-15 pictured was put into service roughly around the same period when Obama graduated from college. It's vintage."

The United States has 187 F-22 Raptors defending our nation. There are thousands of brave men and women who fly and maintain them. These men and women take great pride in what they do, and rightly so. It is just beyond the pale that this little man, Obama, would go out of his way to disrespect them, all because of petty politics.

It really makes no sense whatsoever to deny these warriors a chance to show off their finest tools.

Contrast this to Commander-In-Chief Sarah Palin, whose love for the military is well known. We’ve reported on her trips to Kuwait and Kosovo, but here’s some photos of Sarah, in her role as the Alaska National Guard’s C-I-C aboard the USS Stennis during Northern Edge 2009, a joint training mission held this summer.

As you know, in Alaska, with it’s close proximity to Russia, Commander-In-Chief, for the Governor, is an actual job. Forces of the Alaska Air National Guard routinely escort Russian planes out of Alaskan air space. Not long ago, they were decorated for escorting a number of Russian "Bear" bombers back home.

Anyhow, as you can see, Sarah is quite comfortable being filmed up close and personal with our finest and bravest, as well as their equipment.

This one is for our buddy Devito: Sarah is doing a little weapons training during her visit to her National Guard troops in Kuwait in 2007:

You tell me, when was the last time we had a Commander-In-Chief who actively took weapons training with their troops?

What a beautiful sight an F-22 Raptor can be to those of us who cherish freedom and liberty:

Every time we think of how great it will be to have Sarah Palin as Commander-In-Chief of our armed forces, an F-22 gets it's wings! (Yeah, it's corny, but hey, it's Christmas time, and we just must get in a "Wonderful" reference somewhere!)

In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t the end of the world. Obama is doing many things a lot worse than this. But it’s just one more slap in the face to the men and women who bravely sacrifice their safety and comfort, so the rest of us can enjoy liberty and freedom. These men and women are the best our nation has to offer. And they do this voluntarily. For Obama to show himself like this is a true insult to our troops and the nation.

BTW, here’s some things Obama is NOT ashamed to be photographed doing:

All I want to know is: Does he inhale?

Two peas in a pod:

Seriously, you don't see the resemblance?

Here we see Obama at a fund raiser. His current employer, George Soros, is seen sitting in the front row, next to the stairs. He's on your right, with the jacket, blue shirt, no tie:

Here's Obama's blurb for "just another guy in the neighborhood" Bill Ayers' book. Ayer's would later return the favor by writing Obama's first book: Dreams From My Father, for him! (What? It's settled science!)

Here's our Barry "community organizing":

Hmm, teaching at an ACORN training camp. mmmm mmmm mmmm

Really Barack, really?

NOT how Texans wear their hats:

This guy even hates NATIVE Americans!

Is this the precursor to the whole sad Tiger Woods situation?

Not a real photograph, but it could have happened!:

What? All you left wingers thought it was fine when it was Sarah's face photoshopped in!

This, of course, shows us where we are headed under an Obama presidency. Ride 'em cowboy!

Sarah Palin: "Stupid Conspiracies"

Sarah Palin's Facebook note:

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

- Sarah Palin

I hope that people will agree that Sarah Palin did the right thing. She was asked a question and she answered it truthfully! Governor Palin clearly stated that voters have the right to ask candidates for information. Then she mentions that in the 2008 election, the left continuously asked for proof that Trig was indeed her child. Sarah never, not once, asked Obama to show proof that he was an American citizen!

Of course, some will try to put a spin on what Sarah Palin said because people are still trying to distort her image. In conclusion, Sarah Palin was asked a question and she gave an answer that made sense! End of story.

Sarah is a nirther :)

On Rusty Humphries' radio show, in an the exclusive interview, Sarah Palin said the following according to  Ben Smith’s transcript at Politico.com:

“Would you make the birth certificate an issue if you ran?” she was asked (around 9 minutes into the video above).

“I think the public
rightfully is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with
that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue,
because I think that members of the electorate still want answers,” she
replied.

Sarah Palin: Worthy American Heroes

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook Note pertaining to her forthcoming book-signing trip to Ft. Hood (all royalties from books sold at this event go to a military charity):
Ready and anxious to see America’s finest at Ft. Hood tomorrow. My heart is with every military mom, dad, spouse, child, grandparent... every supporter of our proud men and women in uniform (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

My brother passed the following along to me because he thought I’d like it; he was right. Enjoy... and please honor America’s finest (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

- Sarah Palin

The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father’s, but he has never collected unemployment either.

He’s a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and a 155mm howitzer.

He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk. He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional.

He can march until he is told to stop, or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient.

He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.

He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.

If you’re thirsty, he’ll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He’ll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands.

He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job. He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still find ironic humor in it all. He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short lifetime. He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to ‘square-away’ those around him who haven’t bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.

Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.

He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding.

Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.

As you go to bed tonight, remember this. A short lull, a little shade, and a picture of loved ones in their helmets.

Commentary:

"As commander-in-chief, Governor Palin is the one we look to for leadership and inspiration while serving and defending the sovereign boundaries of Alaska," said Lt. Gen. (AK) Craig E. Campbell, Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard (Kosovo, 2009, ¶4).
This comment by Governor Palin's former Adjutant General -- now Alaska's Lieutenant Governor captures precisely the mutual love and support between Governor Palin and our troops.

To be effective as a leader, one must have the respect and support of the armed forces. This is absolutely not negotiable. Governor Palin has earned this respect, because she truly supports our soldiers' missions. This is a point completely lost on the current holder of the title "Commander in Chief." Further, the current holder of the title has not a clue of the concept that we fight to win; that there is good and evil in the world; and that we fight to overcome evil, whether that evil be in the form of Nazism, Communism, Socialism, or Islamic terrorism.

Governor Palin fully understands these concepts. She is not afraid to identify and destroy evil. As such, should she run for and win the Presidency in 2012, she will be a leader who be respected and admired in and out of the United States.

This book signing at Fort Hood, is the second one to be performed at a military base. As noted when introducing the transcript, all royalties from these two signings are going to a military charity.

Sarah Palin on Rusty Humphries Show

By Shane Vander Hart, Caffeinated Thoughts

Governor Sarah Palin was on the Rusty Humphries Show yesterday in between book signings.  This was a different interview, as he didn’t want to ask her the same questions that she had been asked numerous times already (listeners also submitted questions).  So they discussed ANWR, economy, illegal immigration, Climategate (which she did a Facebook post on yesterday), Obama’s birth certificate and past associations, and much more.

She received some criticism over her answer to Obama’s birth certificate, so she responded via Facebook:

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.
