Sarah Palin: Kelly Ayotte for New Hampshire

Governor Palin today endorsed via Facebook Note mama grizzly Kelly Ayott who is running for a US Senate seat in New Hampshire.

Todd, Willow, and I are headed out to Kodiak and Afognak to meet with logging families on the forested islands. As we work and sightsee on America’s largest island we’ll get to view more majestic bears, so now is a good time to draw attention to the political equivalent of the species.

It’s my honor to endorse a Granite State “mama grizzly” who has broken barriers, fought off and locked up criminals, and battled all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect the rights of New Hampshire parents – and won!

New Hampshire is lucky to have Kelly Ayotte as a candidate for the U.S. Senate this year. Kelly is a daughter of the Granite State, a product of its public schools, and its first female Attorney General. In her impressive five years in the AG’s office, Kelly earned a reputation for being tough on crime, supportive of law enforcement, and tireless in the defense of the rights of the people of New Hampshire. When Planned Parenthood challenged New Hampshire’s parental notification law, Kelly fought them all the way to the Supreme Court and won.

She’s the proud mother of two and the wife of a combat veteran who flew missions over Iraq and currently serves in the Air National Guard. Kelly and her husband started a small landscaping/snow removal business; so, she understands first hand the crushing burden Washington imposes on our small businesses. This pro-life, pro-family, anti-tax constitutional commonsense conservative is the Democrats’ biggest fear in November. They’re already running false ads against her weeks before even the primary election. And on top of that Kelly is facing attacks from a self-funded millionaire running with an R next to his name who likes Obamacare and cap-and-tax.

Kelly is the strongest commonsense conservative who can win in the fall. I knew I liked her when I met her earlier this year, and I know this Granite Grizzly will represent New Hampshire with distinction in Washington.

Please join me in supporting Kelly Ayotte by visiting her website at www.ayotteforsenate.com and following her on Facebook and Twitter.

One final note: I spent time campaigning in New Hampshire in 2008, and I know that the good people there are a lot like Alaskans. In both of our states, we like to get to know the people running for office, look them in the eye, and judge their character. New Hampshire voters know not to rely on misleading negative ads. New Hampshire, tune out the ads and send your native daughter to the Senate. She’ll fight for you there just as passionately and fearlessly as she fought for you in highest court of the land.

Palin: Uniting America with McConnell and Gosar in Congress

Governor Palin today endorsed two Congressional candidates via Facebook Note:
An endorsement’s impact may be fickle and, as I warn the endorsed candidates, is oftentimes a double-edged sword. So I admire the boldness of Bob McConnell and Paul Gosar for accepting my support in their races for Congress! These two patriots are Commonsense Constitutional Conservatives who seek to limit government, protect our 2nd Amendment rights, respect the sanctity of life, support our strong military, and encourage free enterprise. Their work for these commonly held beliefs will help unite this exceptional nation.

Bob McConnell is considered a grassroots underdog candidate running a dynamic, prudent campaign to represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. Bob sometimes describes himself as a “recovering lawyer,” but that’s just one of his professions. Impressively, he’s a retired Colonel and Airborne Ranger. He’s a husband and the proud father of three and grandfather of seven, and he’s a true American patriot who wants to serve his fellow Coloradans for all the right reasons. Bob knows that in times like these ordinary citizens must be bold and take a stand to return our country back to our Constitutional roots of limited and fiscally responsible government. A decorated combat veteran, Bob is supported by the honorable Combat Veterans for Congress, and was unique in being able to tell a rally crowd at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum that he’s parachuted out of three of the aircrafts in that museum! He’s also an avid outdoorsman who climbed Mt. Everest and lived off the grid as a mountain guide for a number of years.

Please join many other concerned Americans in moving the country onto the right path by supporting Bob McConnell. Visit his website at www.mcconnellforcongress.com and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

I’m also proud to endorse Dr. Paul Gosar for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. Thankfully, Paul shares our belief that the federal government’s reckless spending is putting us on a dangerous path towards insolvency – and he’s determined to do something about that. In addition to being a proud family man, Paul is a dentist, and as a small business owner running his practice, Paul understands the challenges confronting job creators when DC stifles us with endless mandates, over-regulation, plans to impose new energy taxes, and just generally (and unnecessarily) overreaches into the private sector. The good doctor knows that true job creation comes from the private sector, not government; and he will work to rein in the fed’s long arm and get our economy moving again by getting government out of the way.

Paul stands firmly behind Governor Jan Brewer’s efforts to protect Arizonans, and the rest of us for that matter, by securing the border. He’s endorsed by three of Arizona’s leading sheriffs because they know America needs Dr. Paul Gosar to hold Washington accountable on this imperative national security issue.

Paul is a bold man! He deserves our support, so please join me in helping him help this great country. You can visit his website at www.gosarforcongress.com and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

Colorado’s 3rd and Arizona’s 1st Congressional Districts are among the 20 districts that John McCain and I carried in the 2008 election, but they are currently represented by Democrats who voted in favor of Obamacare. Both Bob McConnell and Paul Gosar will work to repeal that mother-of-all-unfunded-man

dates and replace it with real free market patient-centered health care reform. Let’s send these good men to Washington so they can get to work for all of us and put a united America back on track.

Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund "Flight" in Saskatoon, CA

US 4 Palin "Fly Sarah from Wasilla to Washington" Campaign
"Sarah" is now in Saskatoon, Canada

How to "Fly 'Sarah' from Wasilla to Washington"
There is no need to email us donation amounts or post them on comments. As long as you donate through an US for Palin graphic or hyperlink to the Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund, we'll know about it, whether it's on the US for Palin site or a venue where its content is syndicated.

Let's help the Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund reach new heights and get Gov. Palin to Washington!

Farewell Edmonton

That AGIA meeting was awesome, “Sarah” said after meeting Laura at the General Aviation building in Edmonton City Centre Airport. “Glad that meeting went well. I knew it would! It’s a good thing we brought that Good Morning Alaska and some coffee filters along,” Laura said. “I’m all pre-flighted. You’re good to go?” “You betcha,” “Sarah” answered. The pair hopped in the plane, Laura did her usual safety briefing and got her clearance.

They took off on the same northwest runway they had arrived on the night before, then turned east and climbed to 11,000 feet. For this flight which was just about 2.5 hours, roughly half an hour was in clouds, the remainder was good visibility between cloud layers. The terrain was mostly forested flat land, as it had been since the segment halfway between Watson Lake and High Level.

Airborne Science Lessons

A purple hint could be seen in the northern sky. “Sarah” felt sad that there was no more midnight sun. Laura said, “You know in Wasilla, the sun sets at 11:18 “today” (July 16 when this segment was flown). Wasilla is 61 degrees north latitude. In Saskatoon, the sun sets at 9:18 today. Saskatoon is 52 degrees north. In New York City, the sun sets at 8:24 today. New York is 41 degrees north.”

“Sarah” immediately could see that the nine-degree difference in latitude between Wasilla and Saskatoon resulted in a two-hour change, but the 11-degree latitude change between Saskatoon and New York resulted in less than an hour’s difference. “Things get really interesting once you start going above 50 north,” Laura said.

“What about 50 south?”, “Sarah” asked. “Same thing, except the seasons are reversed. It’s winter down there now. The Big Dipper and North Star are not entirely visible in much of the southern hemisphere, but they have a close equivalent – the Southern Cross. It points to True South just as the Big Dipper points to True North.”

“Ponder this one “Sarah”: when you look at the sun, you’re looking eight minutes into the past. The light from the sun takes eight minutes to get here,” Laura said. If Edmonton was the faith-based flight, Saskatoon was the science lesson for both "Sarah" and Laura. They spent much of the journey talking about science, geography and micro-evolution. Laura was astonished at how much “Sarah” knew.

Descent to Saskatoon

And so it went, until the controller instructed Laura to descend to 3600 feet and gave her an instrument approach to the east-facing runway, which she appreciated, even though the conditions technically did not require it.

Saskatoon's east-facing runway beckoned...

...and the landing went well. Laura coupled the approach to the autopilot until decision height as usual.

Saskatoon is a significant stop, because it marks the halfway point between Wasilla and Reagan National in Washington DC. The flight placed “Sarah” 1,673 nautical miles from Wasilla and 1671 from DC. She has already crossed three time zones. The next and final stop in Canada would be Winnipeg, a nearly 400-mile flight that will take over four hours in a Cessna 172. In Winnipeg, "Sarah" would speak at a North American trade conference.
