Obama, Follow Joe Wilson's Example and Apologize

Let me be clear. Joe Wilson's "You lie!" outburst was not appropriate during President Obama's address last night. I don't think anyone would defend it. However, I think there are many people who would agree with what he said. In fact, people have been saying for weeks that this Health Care Bill will allow illegal aliens to be covered, abortions to be provided, and health care to be rationed. How the president mangages to continue denying this leaves some scratching their heads. Perhaps Joe Wilson just reached his maximum and blew his top. It's not right, shouldn't have been done, but that doesn't mean he wasn't accurate.

It's the irony of it all that stands out to me. Wilson's out-of-order accusation came only after an out-of-order accusation by the president himself. Perhaps this is a case of simply reaping what you sow, or as some people say, "What goes around comes around."

Did you see Nancy Pelosi and President Obama's faces when Wilson's voice boomed through the room? Pelosi gave him what Neil Cavutto called the Death Stare, and Obama looked to me like he had to remind himself that he wasn't on the streets of Chicago where people sometimes handle such accusations in a less than civil manner.

Joe Wilson's outburst lacked professionalism and respect. But wait a minute. Did the President of the United States not call Sarah Palin a liar immediately prior? Should he not know that the manner in which he referred to her and to others who are not in agreement with his Bill is anything but professional? What was he seeking to accomplish?

Over at the Huffington Post, Paul Begala wrote it this way:

I loved Pres. Obama's speech. It rallied dispirited Democrats, reassured disenchanted independents and intimidated Republicans. He called a lie a lie, and pledged to call out the right-wing thugs if (well, when) they continue lying.

I'm not sure who Begala thinks the president intimidated. Clearly, Joe Wilson wasn't intimidated, and surely Governor Palin is not intimidated, for she came right back with another Facebook note.

The President can keep making unsupported assertions, but until he directly responds to the arguments I’ve made, I’m going to call him out too.

Does this sound like someone who is intimidated?

I dare say that Joe Wilson's behavior, rude as it was, was no worse than the President of the United States using his address to try to scare those who disagree with him into silence and conformity. He not only promised to "call out" those people, but he pinpointed Governor Palin, whom he referred to as a "prominent politican." He coined her concerns about health care as "laughable," "cynical," and "irresponsible." He attempted to put her comments to rest by asserting, "It is a lie, plain and simple." Governor Palin isn't intimidated, but the president certainly sounds like he's guilty of what Begala attributes to Republicans: thuggery.

It is completely inappropriate for the leader of the free world to continue to refer to and attack a private citizen through sneaky back door comments. It is worse to call her a liar, which is exactly what President Obama called Governor Palin last night.

Make no mistake; Joe Wilson did the right thing by issuing an apology for following the president's accusations with "You lie." It's time President Obama followed Joe Wilson's apology with one of his own. I'm sure Governor Palin would graciously accept--and then work with him on tort reform.

Sarah Palin Takes Barack Obama To Task Over His Pathetic Speech And Personal Attacks On The American People

Remember, Mr. President, elected officials work for the people. Forcing a conclusion in order to claim a “victory” is not healthy for our country. We hear you say government isn’t always the answer; now hear us -- that’s what we’ve been saying all along.

Barack Obama really showed himself Wednesday. Acting more like he was a two bit politician on the campaign trail rather than the President of the United States, Obama belittled his office to no end with cheap rhetoric, lies, and attacks on those who disagree with him.

In all of my life, I have never seen a President who just makes the Office so small, so unimportant. Last night Obama took the status of the Office to a whole new low.

We all know Sarah Palin had already put a double dose of heat on Obama before he ever stumbled into the congressional chamber and started up with his glorified Amway meeting.

This is nothing new for Sarah though, she has had Obama’s number since day one:

"This is a man [Barack Obama] who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he’s talking about his own campaign.

But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed … when the roar of the crowd fades away … when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent’s plan?

What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger … take more of your money … give you more orders from Washington … and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. America needs more energy … our opponent is against producing it."

What is really disappointing about Obama’s speech is how he was so far off his game. He was 15 minutes late to start with, prompting Dennis Miller to quip later on The O’Reilly Factor that this was a "ringing endorsement for government efficiency!"

My guess is Obama and his speech writers were still crafting a response to Sarah’s Wall Street Journal op-ed, as well as her Facebook slam from the day before.

During the speech Obama was like a child throwing a temper tantrum. Obama has lost the debate. America wants nothing to do with this fiasco. And instead of cutting his losses, and doing his job, he is bound and determined to shove his communistic, liberty and freedom stealing bill down America’s throat.

Another disappointment, in a night of disappointments, is the fact that Obama said absolutely nothing new. If this guy truly wanted to reform health care, and truly wanted to serve the people, he would have thrown the current mess in the trash can and come out with a clean sheet of paper. He just might have garnered some respect, and support. But he’s just not that smart. Obama is going to ride this ludicrous bill right into the ground.

We learned absolutely nothing new about his plan. All he had was his tired old Saul Alinsky tactics. Don’t talk about the issue, just attack people:

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'...

....any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'

This is all Obama and his crew have. They have no real solutions, no new ideas. Obama is stuck trying to relive the failed Roosevelt years, using policies that took a bad recession and turned it into the Great Depression, and made recovery take years longer than it should have.

Obama is FDR on steriods, and without the charm and sophistication.

The democrat/communists haven’t had an original thought in almost a century.

They just keep on pushing those time honored big government ideas that have failed spectacularly since the beginning of time. And this Obamacare debacle is a true failure among failures. This thing will have the competency of the IRS, the efficiency of the Post Office, and the effectiveness of the Katrina recovery efforts.

So, instead of admitting failure, and sitting down with some adults to craft an honest plan, such as those that have been proposed by the Republicans, Obama just attacked everyone.

What was remarkable though, was Obama calling out Sarah Palin. Again, she is so far in his head he can’t resist, but just how pathetic is it to see the President of the United States, in the one of the most formal settings he can be in, have to resort whining and attacking a private citizen?

We all know the answer, of course. Sarah Palin is an actual leader, and Barry is not. Not even close. A lot of folks didn’t understand the logic behind Sarah’s decision to step down as Governor. I think now they understand.

Sarah had already delivered on every single campaign promise she made when she ran for office, and Obama’s Alaska Mafia had made it impossible for her to do her job. Besides costing her personally, the Obama surrogates had cost the Alaska taxpayers millions, and were on track to cost them more, with their continual filing of those bogus ethics complaints.

My guess is about now Obama is wishing he had left her alone to Govern Alaska in peace! Now she has nothing but time, time to take him to task on every move he makes.

Of course, Sarah is not one to let Alinsky style attacks by someone the likes of Obama to go unanswered. Sarah Palin has dealt with a lot tougher foes, and Chicago thug politics do not impress this gal. So last night after Obama’s glorified campaign speech, Sarah penned a scathing retort.

Response to the President's Health Care Speech

After all the rhetoric is put aside, one principle ran through President Obama’s speech tonight: that increased government involvement in health care can solve its problems.

Many Americans fundamentally disagree with this idea. We know from long experience that the creation of a massive new bureaucracy will not provide us with "more stability and security," but just the opposite. It's hard to believe the President when he says that this time he and his team of bureaucrats have finally figured out how to do things right if only we’ll take them at their word.

Our objections to the Democrats’ health care proposals are not mere "bickering" or "games." They are not an attempt to "score short term political points." And it’s hard to listen to the President lecture us not to use "scare tactics" when in the next breath he says that "more will die" if his proposals do not pass.

In his speech the President directly responded to concerns I’ve raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters. He called these concerns "bogus," "irresponsible," and "a lie" -- so much for civility. After all the name-calling, though, what he did not do is respond to the arguments we’ve made, arguments even some of his own supporters have agreed have merit.

In fact, after promising to "make sure that no government bureaucrat .... gets between you and the health care you need," the President repeated his call for an Independent Medicare Advisory Council -- an unelected, largely unaccountable group of bureaucrats charged with containing Medicare costs. He did not disavow his own statement that such a group, working outside of "normal political channels," should guide decisions regarding that "huge driver of cost ... the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives...." He did not disavow the statements of his health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, and continuing to pay his salary with taxpayer dollars proves a commitment to his beliefs. The President can keep making unsupported assertions, but until he directly responds to the arguments I’ve made, I’m going to call him out too.

It was heartening to hear the President finally recognize that tort reform is an important part of any solution. But this concession shouldn’t lead us to take our eye off the ball: the Democrats’ proposals will not reduce costs, and they will not deliver better health care. It’s this kind of "healthy skepticism of government" that truly reflects a "concern and regard for the plight of others." We can’t wait to hear the details on that; we look forward to working with you on tort reform.

Finally, President Obama delivered an offhand applause line tonight about the cost of the War on Terror. As we approach the anniversary of the September 11th attacks and honor those who died that day and those who have died since in the War on Terror, in order to secure our freedoms, we need to remember their sacrifices and not demonize them as having had too high a price tag.

Sarah Palin Calls Out the President on His Health Care Speech

Before President Obama's address tonight on Health Care, I tweeted that I was wondering how many times he would refer to "death panels" or Governor Palin. I thought to myself that it was an unwise thing for the President of the United States to go down that road in this much-anticipated speech. However, his track record told me that he is much too partisan and much too focused on anything Sarah Palin says to avoid it.

I was right.

What stood out most to me was the manner in which he did it. Both his face and his voice changed noticeably as he did so. Although it's not her purpose to get under his skin, it is clear that she is.

President Obama might want to tackle a different approach. It really doesn't look good when the President of the United States keeps attacking a private citizen. Even Marc Lamont Hill, a strong Obama supporter who admitted to Bill O'Reilly that he's "more to the Left than most liberals," stated that it was unwise for the president to take "cheap shots at Sarah Palin" in his speech tonight. Not only is it unwise, it doesn't accomplish what it's intended to: silence her. Sarah Palin is not going to be silenced on this issue. As he did tonight, the president can say she's lying, he can threaten to "call [her] out," and he can continue to send David Axelrod behind her to refute her words, but more and more Americans are realizing that she knows what she's talking about, and they want answers from President Obama.

I am so glad we have a true public servant who will not back down on this most important issue.

Truth, Not Lies: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

Just when the liberal left thinks they've seen the last of Sarah Palin, she comes out of the woodwork and shows them that she isn't going anywhere. I appeared on #1 Alaska Radio Talk Show Host Eddie Burke's show yesterday to discuss recent statements made by Alaska Sentator Lisa Murkowski. Murkowski recently refuted the death panel claims made by Sarah at a town hall meeting, yet later said it was the term "death panels" that she actually disagreed with, not the actual meaning end-of-life provision that at on time was in the house's version of the health care bill. Sounds like she's playing the fence, huh? That's exactly what I think, but I'm not holding my breath for a response from Senator Murkowski regarding what she REALLY believes and if she has actually read the bill. Sarah was a busy, busy lady yesterday because just before I went on the air with Eddie, I got notified via Facebook that Sarah submitted written testimony to the New York State Senate, which is conducting hearings this week regarding elderly care and the end-of-life provisions that were discussed in the health care bill. Not only did she submit written testimony, but she also wrote an op-ed in the "Wall Street Journal" as a response to President Obama's recent op-ed published in "The New York Times." Not only is Sarah's op-ed eye awakening, but it is totally accurate and forthcoming. When Sarah speaks, or writes for that matter, people listen. Even if they don't agree with her, they take notice. In the hours leading up to the president's speech tonight in front of a joint session of congress, the media were talking about Sarah. I remember the last time this happened: When Sarah was announced as the Republican Party's vice presidential nominee the day after Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.




In her most recent op-ed, Sarah hits Obama's health care plan hard writing:

"Democrats have never seriously considered such ideas, instead rushing through their own controversial proposals. After all, they don't need Republicans to sign on: Democrats control the House, the Senate and the presidency. But if passed, the Democrats' proposals will significantly alter a large sector of our economy. They will not improve our health care. They will not save us money. And, despite what the president says, they will not 'provide more stability and security to every American.'"

The proposals Sarah writes of are the other options being discussed to counter the Obama Administration's health care plans. Remember the other day when the president said no one has come forward with any other ideas regarding how to reform the health care system, not true. Once again our president is too busy talking and not listening to the real ideas that will bring reform. Sarah cites some examples of the reform that many members of the house and senate have brought to the table:

"Instead of poll-driven 'solutions,' let's talk about real health-care reform: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven. As the Cato Institute's Michael Cannon and others have argued, such policies include giving all individuals the same tax benefits received by those who get coverage through their employers; providing Medicare recipients with vouchers that allow them to purchase their own coverage; reforming tort laws to potentially save billions each year in wasteful spending; and changing costly state regulations to allow people to buy insurance across state lines. Rather than another top-down government plan, let's give Americans control over their own health care."

Now, I don't now about you, but the above sure looks like health care ideas to me. Instead of working with the other side, Obama is too busy wanting to push through his agenda and once again, taking the "It's my way or the highway" approach. It is time that President Obama lives up to the promises he spoke of when he took office. He preached of openness and transparency. He promised us that, as president, gone were the days of the "politics as usual," yet none of the above seems to be happening. Thank goodness we can always count on Sarah for speaking out and showing us what is really happening in our country.



There is another issue that has been bothering me in regards to the whole health care debate and that is the AARP and the way in this organization is educating its members on health care reform. As a young conservative, I enjoy reading various news papers, books as well as newsletters. As I do every month, I read this month's edition of AARP monthly bulletin that is sent to its members. When my grandfather gave me this month's edition, the cover immediately had me outraged. The main headline reads: "The Hype, The Lies, The Facts: How to tune out the fear-mongering and misinformation and make sense of the health care reform debate." I don't know about you, but I immediately knew that what I was about to read would be a left-wing attack machine against those concerned men and women who are speaking out against the reforms the Obama Administration is attempting to rush through the house and senate. The absurdity does not end there. When you open up the magazine, readers are bombarded with propaganda regarding the health care debate. While the AARP says it has not endorsed any health care proposal, there is no denying which way this organization is leaning. This is apparent on the very first page in which writer Jim Toedtman writes, regarding the health debate: "...we've seen a free-for-all of careless exaggeration, retooled social issues, partisan posturing and the revival of a time-worn 'socialized medicine' shibboleth that didn't work 50 years ago and is out of date today." I'd hate to inform the AARP, but we are on the dangerous road toward socialism that began under President Bush when we started bailing out the banks. The beginning of government control didn't stop there as we now have government control in the auto industry and mounting government control in our lives leading up to the government now wanting to control our health care decisions. As I read the AARP article, there was no doubt in my mind that the AARP is not only "in the tank" for the Obama Administration, but they are pushing for their agenda to be put into the bill.



In giving the so-called facts about the health care debate, they cite sources like www.Factcheck.org, (which claims to be an independent organization, yet it has been noted by many that this organization has liberal leanings) to Kathleen Hall Jamieson who is director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. It is important to note that, according to "The Weekly Standard," the Annenberg Foundation co-sponsors Fact Check and if this is not enough, Obama once served as a co-chair of the Chicago Annenberg Project and before he was elected president, he requested a 3.5 million dollar earmark for the Annenberg foundation. Do these sources sound objective to you? Not only are these sources not objective, but the entire article goes to extreme lengths to make those who are speaking out against the democrats look like crazies. Here is a sample example of this classification in the form of a quote from Annenberg's Jamieson:

"Extremists and people who are so locked into their own ideology that they'll distort anything have been out there forever.... But they haven't had a way to reach out to as many people as efficiently as they have now."

Jamieson seems to be saying that those who are practicing their First- Amendment right to speak out are fringe groups, using this issue to further their anti-government cause. This couldn't be further from the truth. The vast majority of individuals speaking out are hard-working Americans, like myself, who are concerned with having the government in control of their health-care decisions. The whole health care debate is a moral, ethical issue, not a party issue. Instead of allowing the Republican Party to be included in the whole debate, Obama continues to shut them out of the entire conversation unless the Republicans go along with his policies.




The AARP has the nerve to incite the notion that the, what they describe as, "violent interruptions" could affect the outcome of what happens with the final outcome of health- care reform. What is the AARP's target demographic, the elderly, to make of these allegations? Instead of giving both sides of the issue fairly and honestly, the AARP illustrates the slippery slope, which is its close relationship with the Obama Administration and the Obama Administration's close relationships with organizations such as the AARP and the NEA (among others) who are supposed to be independent groups; instead, we see these groups pushing the president's agenda, while saying they are objective agencies. It seems as if the Obama Administration has become the administration of "If you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." This era of special interests is a scary, yet very real problem that needs to be stopped, but I'm not holding my breath that the president and these organizations will cease their cozy relationships anytime soon.




The article not only targets those who are speaking out against the president's health care reform plans, but it gives five so-called myths that the AARP believes are false. The following are the five questions, posed as myths they say are false:

1) Will the government take over health care so we end up with socialized medicine?

(The AARP says no, which is untrue because once the government takes control, especially if there is a government option, the private insurance companies will be put out of business since they will no longer be able to compete with the government-run option. In turn, this will lead to full government control of the health care system.)

2) Will private insurance be outlawed or wither on the vine?

(The AARP says no, which is untrue. Once those who are uninsured or want the government option choose the government option, companies with employer insurance could eventually opt out to reduce cost and choose the government option thus putting private insurance companies out of business.)

3) Will the government encourage euthanasia to save costs?

(The AARP says no, but in listening to Sarah as well as countless others, we know the end-of-life provision is total non-fiction.)

4) Will Medicare be eliminated or gutted to pay for reform?

(The AARP says no, which is untrue. It is a fact that Medicare funding will be cut in the bill, to the tune of $500 billion.)


5) Will the government ration care?

(The AARP says no, which is untrue. Once the government takes over, they decide what care is really necessary-remember at the town hall when Obama told that women whose mother needed a pacemaker that maybe pain medicine could be an option instead of having the pacemaker surgery?- If you want another example, look at what is happening in Canada. Individuals are having to wait years for operations, and some are even being denied care if they need a special treatment or operation. This is why so many cross the border of Canada into the United States just so they can receive the needed care.)




The problem with these myths is that they are not myths at all. The AARP is falsly reporting, in an attempt to sway all its readers to supporting the Obama Administration's plan. I believe the AARP has not endorsed the democrat's plan because the AARP wants its suggestions to be put into the bill before they endorse anything. Some of the things they are arguing for include lower drug costs and strengthened Medicare, protection of health care choices, the end of discrimination by insurance companies and guaranteed stable, affordable coverage. Watch and see... as soon as these goodies are inserted into the bill, the AARP will come out in full support to the point in which many will forget this organization was ever undecided on whom to throw their support against. If this article is any suggestion as to where the AARP stands, it is clear this organization is in full support of the president's plan and wants its goodies before publicly supporting any bill. It is no wonder that many senior citizens are confused on what to believe in this debate. Here we have an organization that is set on preaching the propaganda and miss information to so many. As Sarah wrote in her op-ed: "Each of us knows that we have an obligation to care for the old, the young and the sick. We stand strongest when we stand with the weakest among us." It is so important that we stand with the young and old, the weak and strong in order for the right health care reform to be put into place. Instead of penalizing the elderly, we should be giving them the best care possible. Sarah is so correct in arguing that there was "death panel" language in the bill. So many say she is crazy for insinuating such language, but what they forget to point out is that this language was taken out of the bill. If she and so many others were so wrong in their beliefs, why did the house work so rapidly to remove the language? The msm are so quick to attack Sarah for her so-called crazy assumptions that they have forgotten to report the truth. That is why it is so important to stay informed. I urge you to talk with your family members so that they know the facts because sometimes we are the best source when it comes to reporting the truth. While we know the AARP will continue to push for its agenda, let us push forward with the truth. Remember, you have more power than you think, so continue to educate yourselves and your families because you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Let's make the government listen to us because after all, the health care reform they are pushing down our throats is for us, not them. I end this post with the following question: If the Obama Administration's health care plan is so great, why aren't they going to be under the same health care plan they are so urgently pushing for? I already know the answer, and I'm sure you do too: The plan being pushed through is not a true measure of reform, but a true measure of failure and the end of our health care system, currently the best in the world, as we know it.
