Thank you, Washington, for Requesting a Demonstrably Good Idea
Thursday at 7:54pm EST
I commend the president for acknowledging today that “there are limits to what government can and should do” to ease our 10.2% unemployment rate – the highest it’s been since 1983. I also applaud his call for suggestions and expression of openness to considering “any demonstrably good idea.” Taking him at his word, I’d like to suggest this one: let’s learn from history and follow the example of the man who occupied the White House in 1983 and was able to transform an even worse recession than the one we’re currently experiencing into the largest peacetime economic expansion in American history.
When you realize the magnitude of President Reagan’s achievements, there is
absolutely no reason why anyone would ignore his “demonstrably good” example. If
you want real job growth, cut taxes – including capital gains taxes and small
business payroll taxes – and slay the death tax once and for all. If you want to
stimulate the economy and help poor and middle class families, cut payroll taxes
so that more Americans can keep and invest more of what they earn.
If you want lasting economic expansion and prosperity, get the federal government’s
budget under control. Instead of more pork-laden stimulus plans, let the free
market correct itself. That’s what Reagan did, and history proves it worked.
In his comments today, the president honorably suggested that he
welcomes our ideas on how to put America’s economy on the right track. But,
there also seemed to be a suggested chastisement of the private sector’s efforts
to right some economic wrongs when he said, “...small businesses and large
firms...have not yet been willing to take the steps necessary to hire again.”
As business owners seek to expand, or just to keep doors open today,
it’s not as if they are refusing to hire out of spite. Given a pro-private
sector environment they will be only too happy to hire more people and grow
their businesses. Perhaps if leadership in Washington reassured them by, for
example, cutting tax burdens and making government more efficient, it would send
our businesses a message that it’s safe and smart to expand today.
These are difficult times for so many Americans who are out of work. I implore our
leaders to not threaten our economy’s job creators with increased taxes and
job-killing schemes like cap-and-tax and the government health care takeover.
Government needs to get out of their way and off their backs so that they can
grow and hire again.
The lessons of history are clear. We’re blessed to have so many lessons from which to learn, and we’d be smart to emulate successes in America’s past. Our economic recovery decisions should be based on the same free market principles that Reagan employed. They work, history proves it, and I thank our president for asking for this input.

Sarah Palin: Let's Follow Reagan's Example
Transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook post:
Forget Oprah! It's ALL About "The Hammer" and "The Cuda"! : A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice
Sarah Palin kicks off her book tour on Monday, and what a better way to help kick it off than appearing on non other than Eddie Burke's radio talk show? Now, while many of you cannot wait for Sarah's Oprah interview on Monday, I, for one, am really looking forward to Eddie's interview with Sarah. For the few of you out there who don't have the pleasure of knowing who Eddie Burke is, you're missing out. As Alaska's number one radio talk show host, Eddie has always supported Sarah, standing by her through the good times and the bad. Eddie has lived in Alaska since he was a young child, so his knowledge of Alaska politics runs through his veins.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Eddie personally back in May of this year through the networking site Twitter. I sent him a tweet to let him know how much I appreciated his on-going support of the Gov, and I commended him for always telling it like it is. He tweeted me back, and we have been friends ever since. Unlike other radio hosts, Eddie is not afraid to ruffle some feathers; he is a true straight shooter, a true conservative. Nicknamed "The Hammer" for his no-nonsense approach, Eddie is not afraid to take on liberals and Rinos like. He is a phenomenal conservative who truly believes in God, family and country. Like Sarah, he DOES walk the walk and talk the talk. Eddie isn't fake, which is another trait that makes his show so great. His support for Sarah and his belief in the importance of conservatism make him an asset to the conservative movement, not to mention America!
I really admire how Eddie looks out for us "Mainstreet U.S.A." folks too. Not only does he look out for us, but he truly understands what everyday Americans are going through because he is one himself. When some people think of big-time media personalities, they sometimes think these individuals don't care about folks- Eddie does! He cares about the issues and how they effect people. He cares about our troops because he has served in the military himself. He cares about the constitution because he lives his life according to it. He is as honest and straight forward as one can come. As he has told me many times, he sees what he does as not about him. He loves his country and cares about what happens to it.
Perhaps what makes Sarah's interview with Eddie so symbolic and special is the fact that Sarah was the first caller to ever appear on Eddie's show when his show first aired on 720 KBYR two years ago December. He believed in Sarah then, and he believes in her now. I only wish the same could be said for Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters. When these women were falling head over heels in love with Barack Obama, Eddie was sticking with his friend. I guarantee Eddie and Sarah will have the REAL interview on Monday. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to watch Sarah appear on Oprah Monday, but I know Eddie is interviewing Sarah for the right reasons, not for the ratings. While Eddie's show is number one, he is there to spread the truth and fire up conservatives and independents alike, just like the "Cuda" herself.
I have had the honor of regularly appearing as a guest on Eddie's show. As a regular guest, I come on to discuss Sarah and national issues. Having studied Journalism and English in college, I always tell people that it was Eddie who gave me my first big break on the air as a political analyst. While I have been on TV before as a college newsroom intern at a local news station, here in San Diego, it was through Eddie that I was given my first real break. There are hundreds of bloggers out there to whom Eddie could turn to inform viewers about important issues, and I am one of a select few that he chooses to call on. I will forever be grateful to him for believing in me. He is an awesome mentor and friend.
I guarantee you will all thoroughly enjoy listening to Eddie and Sarah on Monday. Also, Eddie's show would not be complete without a little liberal fun, and this is where Rishi comes into play. As Eddie's producer, Rishi works closely with Eddie to make sure the show runs smoothly. I refer to Rishi as my favorite liberal, so contrary to what many people may think, this conservative girl does play well with liberals too. I do have liberal friends, Rishi being one of them. Although he is a socialist, I still call him a friend; he's just a little off course. Maybe one day Eddie and I will convert Rishi over to the conservative side, but, then again, I'm not holding my breath. I may give Rishi a hard time A LOT, but he knows I adore him- wink, wink.
See, with a show like the fabulous one I have described above, who needs Oprah? Eddie is entertaining and Rishi adds to the fun; it's one of the best three hours of radio around. So pop some popcorn, crack open an ice-cold beverage, and listen to Eddie on Monday, well make that everyday for that matter. The show airs Monday-Friday from 2-5 p.m. AK; 3-6 p.m. PST; 6-9 p.m. EST. Sarah will be calling in on Monday sometime during the show!!! If you live in Alaska, tune your radio dial to a.m. 700 KBYR. If you're outside Alaska like me, listen online at KBYR.com. Follow me on Twitter for updates @rachellefriberg regarding this and other topics. So fellow readers, as the famous lyrics of Eddie's show theme song goes, "Let's get it started...." Amen to that!!!
I encourage you to follow Eddie @talkradiohost and Rishi @reeshman on Twitter too. They are well worthy of the follow! Make sure to tell them that I sent you their way.

Sarah Palin: Pelosi "Health Plan" Should Be DOA
The ‘Cuda is en fuego this morning, and as always, is spot on. It's truly hard to add to this:
Pelosi "Health Plan" Should Be DOA
We need to be vigilant in investigating the ramifications of the Pelosi Health Care Bill. Some provisions sound so outrageous as to be considered impossible to fathom, but they’re right there in the bill in black and white. For instance, page 297 of the bill explains the punishment for not purchasing government mandated health insurance. If you don’t buy what the government considers "acceptable health care coverage," you’re going to be hit with a tax of at least 2.5% of your income. And if you don’t pay that new tax, you could be fined as much as $250,000 and sentenced to up to five years in prison.
But here’s the thing: they have to make the penalty for opting out very harsh in order to force us to buy coverage. The only way to keep this government run health care plan afloat is for everyone to buy into it – especially young and healthy people. That means that they will have to penalize citizens if we choose not to buy a plan that will cost a minimum of about $15,000 per family per year.
The bill that came out of the Senate last month – the Baucus Bill – does just the opposite. It calls for a much lighter penalty ($750 maximum) for people who don’t buy government approved health coverage, making it cheaper to pay the fine than to pay for the coverage. (And with a recession on, who can blame families for not wanting to pay $15,000 for a government mandated health care plan?)
But here’s the kicker: the bill also forces insurance companies to cover everyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions. Think about what that means. A lot of people – especially young and healthy people – will just pay the penalty instead of purchasing coverage because they’ll figure that it’ll always be there if they get sick, as government has promised. That’s what will happen, and when it does it will totally undermine the very concept of "insurance" – which is basically a group of people pooling their resources over time to cover themselves for a rainy day, paying while they’re healthy so that they’re covered when they’re sick. Those who are healthy now pay for those who are sick. If your insurance pool only contains sick people, it’s a bust. And that’s what this government plan will be. Without all of those young and healthy people paying into the pool and defraying the costs, the government will have to pony up more and more money, and who knows how long the whole crazy plan will last before it goes broke – and our country with it!
That’s where we are with this bureaucratic mess: either the government penalizes people so harshly that they could be hit with huge taxes and even possible jail time, or the government makes the penalty a slap on the wrist and undermines the plan from the get-go. Forcing individuals to buy health insurance seems unconstitutional, yet Congress wants to foist it on us anyway. Proponents of government controlled health care will say, "But we’re made to buy car insurance and home insurance, what’s the difference with health insurance?" It’s apples and oranges. Auto insurance is a state law requirement, and people can always choose not to drive. Banks might require you to have home owner’s insurance, but again, you choose to own a home, just as you choose to drive. You have no choice at all when it comes to this federal government health care insurance mandate.
There are other ways to reform health care without violating our Constitution and our personal liberties. Let’s get back to discussing market-driven, patient-centered, result-driven solutions, like, for example, allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines, tackling existing government waste and fraud, and reforming medical malpractice laws (tort reform) to stop unwarranted lawsuits that force doctors to order unnecessary procedures just to cover themselves.
Please let your Senators know that the Pelosi Bill should be dead on arrival. Once we go down this big government path, it will be virtually impossible to reverse course. Let’s fight for the reform that makes sense for Americans before it’s too late.
- Sarah Palin
The unconstitutionality of forcing someone to buy something they don’t want is what is so very striking. It speaks to how truly dangerous the democrat/communists are. It proves they don’t give a damn about personal rights, freedom, or liberty. This bill is written proof that the democrat/communist party stands solely for tyranny, solely for evil.
The language and penalties in the 2000 plus page monstrosity make it very clear that Obama and his democrat/communist party have more in common with King George, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and Chavez, than with Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Paine, and Franklin.
Two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) plus five years in prison for not buying "government approved" health care. Are you kidding me?
We fought a Revolution over a lot less stupidity than this!
It’s time for all good Americans to get off the couch and take to the streets. It is time to defeat this evil once and for all. It is time to stop this bill dead in it’s tracks.
Once this bill is stopped we must have a second Revolution, a Conservative Revolution!
From the smallest local office, to the presidency, we need to make sure we have good, solid Conservative leaders running, and winning. It is everyone’s duty to get involved and make this happen. Everyone simply must, to save the nation from sure destruction from within.
The 2010 elections are around the corner. We must work hard to elect Conservatives in every position. "Progressives" must be defeated in every case, no matter of the party. We must remove the enablers, the RINOs, the DIABLOs the "progressive" Republicans. They are no better than the democrat/communists, as they either vote with them, or put up such token resistence to their illegal and unconstitutional plans, as to be worthless.
We need fighters, patriots who will fight this evil with their dying breath!
We need strong leaders like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, and Jim DeMint, who, by the way, has introduced a bill that would set term limits for Congress.
As the Great Renaldus Magnus would say, this is not the time for pale pastels, this is the time for bold colors, for bold leadership. This is the time for YOU to get into the fight!
I’m going to leave you with this video that Sarah sent out late last night from the CF&P Foundation. In it Eline van den Broek warns America of the perils of European style socialized medicine. This is an eye opener, and really needs to go viral.
