From a Fairbanks Farewell to Awaking a Nation

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

A year ago today, I was in Fairbanks, Alaska as Governor Sarah Palin bid farewell to leading the state she dearly loves. I saw the crowd gathering, many holding signs or wearing shirts broadcasting their gratefulness to the woman who had served them so faithfully. I also saw, approached, and engaged in a spirited debate with people who arrived for no other reason, it appeared, than to demonstrate their disapproval of the Governor.

From July 3rd when I heard the news that she would be stepping down, to July 26th as I prepared to attend that final farewell, I had prayed that Governor Palin would not look back but would have peace in the knowledge that she had, in fact, made the right decision. That afternoon, I watched Governor Palin serve the people of Alaska hot dogs and a smile for the last time as their governor. Just taking it all in, I knew intuitively that she had no regrets. I knew that she knew that it was, as the saying goes, all good. And that was enough for me.

Taking to the stage with her black jacket and blue jeans, she displayed a calm that comes only from a blessed assurance that your steps are being ordered. In that quiet confidence, she was able to shut up a lunatic in the crowd, tell the media not to mess with Sean Parnell's children, and embrace her own who were there with her on the stage.

At the conclusion of Sean Parnell's swearing in, while her parents and some friends still lingered on the premises of Pioneer Park, Governor Palin was nowhere to be seen. She had quickly slipped away, leaving the new governor to enjoy his moment--and his cake. She left and embarked on a new chapter of a book of her life still being written. Only history will fully tell the tale.

I cannot remember exactly what I was thinking as I put my head to pillow hours later. I do remember my mind being fixed throughout the day on the concept of new beginnings. This theme has stuck with me, and not just for the Governor. That precise moment in time marked newness for so many of us as we have literally witnessed a story of epic proportions that has not lost its savor but has picked up momentum. How many of her supporters would have ever touched base had not we taken this walk with her? How many Mama Grizzlies would still be hibernating? How many policies of this Obama administration would be going unchallenged? How many of us would be personally involved in taking back our country? To be honest, the likely answers to those questions are troubling.

The haters thought they had her. As much of a sacrifice as it was, however, Governor Palin disarmed them. And in so doing, she's accomplishing more than many imagined possible. Rather than answering bogus ethics complaints, arguing with state legislators hell-bent on fighting her at every turn, and succumbing to the full-court press waged against her, she is battling the political insanity of this current administration, fighting for the soul of America, and inspiring a generation.

She ended that day with this tweet:

Thank you Alaska! I love you. God bless Alaska. God bless the U.S.A.

A Month Later - Still Celebrating Sarah's Independence Day

By Adrienne Ross from www.motivationtruth.com

One month ago today, I awoke in North Pole, Alaska. A couple hours later we headed to Fairbanks to celebrate independence with Governor Palin. It was her last Governor's Picnic--the last one ever--and she would be turning the reins over to Sean Parnell at the end of the day.

I had been praying for a couple weeks that her heart would be prepared for that moment, which I figured had to come with some mixed emotions. I was so glad to see no signs of sadness from the governor that day--great love for the people of Alaska, oh yes. But I saw absolutely no regret at her decision.

In fact, when she stepped to the podium to speak, I saw nothing but utter resoluteness. And when she opened her mouth, the one thing I did not see was a public servant who had given up. On the contrary, I saw in her face, heard in her voice, and sensed from her spirit an inward cry like that of John Paul Jones who doggedly declared, "I've only just begun to fight." Perhaps her own tweets not long before that Independence Day in Fairbanks, Alaska would say it best.

Planning inauguration w/LtGov in 10 days, Frbanks. W/same cabinet, same positive pro-AK agenda it's all good, consistent success bc everyone elected is replaceable;Ak WILL progress! + side benefit=10 dys til less politically correct twitters fly frm my fingertps outside State site. [emphasis added]

And fight she has.

Shortly after she stepped down from the podium that day, she stepped up to rule the world from her perch on Facebook. Who among us could ever lead a debate on health care and tort reform from a page on a social networking site? Who among us could hit the President of the United States so hard he would find it necessary to box back within the rings of Town Halls, radio addresses, conference calls to religious leaders, and anywhere else he got the chance? Who else could slap his head so intensely he would forget his Harvard education and instead create phrases like "wee-weed up"? You got it: Sarah Palin--and only Sarah Palin.

One month ago today Governor Palin didn't quit fighting, as her haters accused. She just started fighting harder--and became more free. I told the anklebiters in a blog back in July that they would wish they had left well enough alone.

Yes, a month after Sarah Palin's Independence Day--and on the anniversary week of Dr. King's March on Washington--I can just hear Sister Sarah singing, "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, I am free at last!"

Video: Fox News Interviews Me about Sarah Palin's Future

Many of you already saw this on television. I was present at Sarah Palin's farewell spech in Fairbanks, AK when it aired; therefore, I wasn't able to catch this first-hand. I heard from many of you that you saw the interview a number of times. Fox aired it for a couple days, yet I didn't catch it once! Now when I'm here at home, Fox News is always on, but for a month in Alaska, television was just not on the agenda.

From what I've been told, it seems that this was not the only clip shown from my interview with Dan Springer, but other parts of the interview were aired at different times. I wouldn't know, like I said, but I do know Springer had plenty of tape to choose from, as my interview there at Pioneer Park lasted around 10 minutes or so.

To set this up, what I'm addressing in the clip is his statement that recent polls show a decline in Sarah's favorability among Republicans and his question as to whether or not I was worried about that. I started by saying that less than two weeks prior, the polls showed that she was actually leading in favorability--well ahead of Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee--so I wasn't at all concerned.
