Update: Sarah Palin & Election Day Reminder

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Today is Election Day, and the eyes of the nation have been on three important races in particular: the race in the NY 23rd Congressional District, the gubernatorial race in New Jersey, and the gubernatorial race in Virginia.

Yesterday, via Facebook, Sarah Palin implored: "Hoffman, Baby, Hoffman!" We already know the impact Palin has had on that race. After her endorsement of Doug Hoffman, support for him poured in, and Dede Scozzafava stepped aside.

Also yesterday, in support of Bob McDonnell in Virginia--although independent of his campaign--Governor Palin made robocalls. Listen to the call below, in which she says:

Virginia, hello, this is Sarah Palin calling to urge you to go to the polls Tuesday and vote to share our principles. The eyes of America will be on Virigina and make no mistake about it, every vote counts. So don't take anything for granted, vote your values on Tuesday, and urge your friends and family to vote, too. Thank you.

Finally, concerning New Jersey, in her endorsement of Chris Christie, Palin predicts;

Watch New Jersey's economy come alive under new leadership that will put government back on the side of the people! Chris Christie promises this new leadership.

While our eyes are on these three races, which have huge importance to our nation, do not fail to see the importance of your local races. Votes for highway superintendent and city councilman may not receive the same publicity as the races for Congress and governor, but they are still important. So exercise your right today.

UPDATE: Via Governor Palin's Facebook page:

It's Imperative That We Exercise Our Right to Vote Today

“...the right which woman needed above every other, the one indeed which would secure to her all the others, was the right of suffrage.”

Susan B. Anthony used those words to describe the cause she spent her life fighting for: the right of an American woman to cast a ballot for the candidate of her choice. Because of Susan B. Anthony’s tireless efforts and the courage and dedication of countless others, millions of American women will head to the polls today to exercise their right to vote.

When we consider the sacrifices made to give us this right, there is simply no excuse not to vote.

Today, the eyes of the nation are drawn in particular to the three big elections occurring on the east coast. New Jersey and Virginia will be electing new governors, and the 23rd Congressional District of New York will be sending a new representative to Washington D.C. The choices are clear in all three races.

In New York’s 23rd Congressional District race, Doug Hoffman represents the return of the ordinary citizen-politician who is dedicated to bringing fiscal sanity back to Washington, D.C. Doug’s message of cutting spending, lowering taxes, and ending the outrageous growth in the size and scope of the federal government has resonated throughout his district and the country. Voting for Doug Hoffman will send an important message to the powers that be: no more politics as usual.

The governor’s race in New Jersey is a referendum on the failed fiscal policies of the state’s current governor. New Jersey suffers under the highest tax burden in the nation – a burden which has caused many New Jerseyans to leave their home state for better economic prospects elsewhere. Chris Christie is dedicated to ending the reckless spending, the tax hikes, and the corruption that has plagued New Jersey for far too long. A vote for Chris Christie as the next governor of New Jersey will help to lead this great state – “The Crossroads of the Revolution” – back to prosperity.

In Virginia, Bob McDonnell’s commitment to lower taxes and fiscal responsibility make him the common sense choice in the governor’s race. If Bob’s honorable military service and track record as Virginia’s Attorney General are any indications of how he will handle the governorship, then it is safe to say that Virginians have an easy choice to make today.

Candidates like Doug Hoffman, Chris Christie, and Bob McDonnell represent common sense answers to the troubling economic questions facing our nation. They are a vote for fiscal sanity and for leaving our children an American future as bright and as promising as the one our parents left for us.

Please take time today to exercise the right that so many people fought to secure for us. In considering these east coast races, it occurred to me that Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and so many of the women who fought to give future generations the right to vote hailed from these states.

Vote today in honor of our past and with hope for our future.

Heels on, Gloves Off: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

As many of you already know, Sarah Palin is the main reason I started blogging. She is the reason why I have fallen in love with politics. If you would have asked me a year and a half ago where I saw myself in October 2009, I can tell you right now that my answer wouldn't come close to the life I find myself living now, and honestly, I couldn't be more thrilled and excited about how God has used me; furthermore, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for me next. With God, I know that anything is possible. He has opened so many doors for me, and I am having a great time on this journey called life. Having studied English and journalism in college, this blog has given me the opportunity to expand on what I learned, and I feel myself growing as a writer everyday. Writing, public speaking and politics are three of my passions, something I'd love to make a career out of. I thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read my blog each day; you will never know how grateful I am for the the support and kind words I receive from many of you each day.

I am not ashamed to say I am a proud conservative. Contrary to popular belief, it can be hip and cool to be a young conservative. While those in Hollywood will try to preach that liberal is the only way to be, don't falter and don't fall- stick to your conservative values. I know I don't have to tell many of you this twice because you don't and never have listened to those liberal freaks in Hollywood. Do they know what it's like to earn a hard-earned living? Do they know what it's a like to live on Mainstreet U.S.A? Do they know what it is to have to sacrifice on the battlefield like our soldiers do day in and day out? Do they know what it's like to have to say goodbye to a family member who's in the military knowing that it will be months before they are reunited? No, the majority do not.

As a young conservative, I want to spread the message of what conservatism REALLY represents. It's not about spending liberally, it's not about growing government, and it's not about voting with the democrats to grow government while calling yourself a Republican. Unfortunately, the previous items are what the Republican party has become. Although the Republican Party has strayed away from its core values of fiscal conservatism, small government and strong national defense, we are starting to see the conservative movement spread like wildfire, and I believe there is one individual who is responsible for this: Sarah Palin. Sarah re-energized America, and America continues to be re-energized because of her presence in it. She is unafraid to stand up and speak out. In endorsing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, she chose values over party. Hoffman represents the type of candidate who is needed in the Republican Party. Although he is a third party candidate, he is a conservative like Republicans Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint and Mike Pence. He is a conservative like Sarah Palin. The NY 23 race has captivated a country that is sick and tired of what is happening. Candidates with conservative values ARE the future of America. Doug Hoffman is proving this, and Bob McDonnell (running for governor of Virginia) is proving this too.

I am a tough cookie, and I am not afraid to fight the good fight. I am not going to sit back like a good girl while my country and conservative values are coming under attack. It was Sarah who taught me this. It was Sarah who stood, and continues to stand, tall and strong when she was attacked with the most vile of attacks. It IS Sarah who stands up for the conservative values so many of us share. Sarah IS our future!!! If you need an illustration of someone with sheer grit and intense determination, Sarah is that individual. Just as Ronald Reagan before her, she is going to lead us out of the wilderness and onto that shining city on a hill. While I have so many favorite "Sarah" quotes, it was something she said just up the freeway from me when she spoke at a rally in California during the campaign. I will never forget a fun one-liner of hers that I enjoy using from time to time. At this rally, Sarah said, "The heels are on, the gloves are off." Well said, Sarah. I know I'm ready, fellow readers, are you? While I know many of you are just not that into heels, go ahead and put on a happening pair of shoes, and let's take back the Republican Party, and make it a party we can once again can be proud to call ourselves members of.
