Sarah Palin: America's Duct Tape

I am sure over the next few days there will be far more eloquent and talented authors than myself who will be able to articulate the gargantuan of a canyon our president continues to carve in the middle of America's heartland. What started as a crack has turned into a gorge of division that our nation has not experienced in a long time. Sometimes, a shake up is necessary....this however, is a shakedown.

I was horrified...yes, an appropriate word...to watch today as our president stood shoulder to shoulder with Mexican president Felipe Calderon and effectively became a turncoat against a part of our Union. When did it become acceptable for a president of the United States of America to join another country in tearing down and degrading one of our own member states? It just feels treasonous to me.

It's been debated whether any of the critics of the Arizona immigration law SB1070 have even read it in full. It's only fifteen pages...far less than the two thousand plus of the health reform bill. Why don't some of our elected officials and their paid staff take a minute between tee times and extramarital affairs to find out what the heck is going on in America? I'd love to see a reality show where the citizens of Arizona take a DC hack to the field and let him or her experience the violence and fear of living beneath a reign of terror due to illegal invasions. This is not about preventing some poor Mexicans from working on farms...this is about national security with a gaping border allowing drug cartels and terrorists from other countries free access. Seriously, what is wrong with our president?!

When Governor Palin said, “Politically, if I die, I die,” it was with the understanding that even if she never ran for an office again, it wasn't going to stop her from standing up on her soapbox, wherever it might be stationed. I'm thankful for that and how she has stood up for the state of Arizona and their right to protect themselves, with no apology. She isn't alone. There are many in the same fight for our country, and she is quick to acknowledge them. One thing though that has been distinct in Governor Palin's approach is how she has been a unifier among Americans from all walks of life.

Understand that while Sarah Palin has never backed down from pointing out the wrongs being done by President Obama and his administration, she has also never retreated from associations many, even in her own party, see as pariahs. Folks that are often categorized as rednecks, teabaggers, and Bible thumpers will find a friend in Governor Palin because she sees them as Americans just like any others, not freaks that liberals think necessary to make fun of and rant against. Not stopping there, she has strong supporters across all racial, religious, and social lines...Americans are Americans, and they all deserve Constitutional respect in her eyes.

This is a truth that the left has not figured out. Instead they constantly moan and ask, “Why does anyone listen to her?” Or my all time favorite, “Her kids are just being used as props.” Listen up! As a mother of four, I can tell you it is far easier to leave the kids at home. Far. Easier. Why does she do it? The same reason I drag mine around...I love them, and I want them to experience things they may never get another chance to do.

Anyway, lest even one politician think that these apparently delusional Palin supporters I speak of are far and few between, do allow me to point out that they make up workers from every marketplace and station in life you can name....from Wal-mart cashier to successful business owner to stay at home mom...and they all have votes. They are many. You are few. Don't say you didn't know. Just told ya. Right here.

According to an online dictionary, “Conflation occurs when the identities of two or more individuals, concepts, or places, sharing some characteristics of one another, become confused until there seems to be only a single identity — the differences appear to become lost.” In my opinion, conflation has occurred with the identity of President Obama. He is synonymous with a chisel and hammer, dividing and separating our country into sides so diametrically opposed to one another that it seems nearly impossible to overcome.

But what I can hold onto is that conflation has also occurred with the identity of Governor Palin. She has become synonymous with open arms, the heart of a giant, and the courage to be the mama grizzly that says to us, “Wait a sec, let me eat this intruder, and then we'll move along.” Sarah Palin is not anti-immigrant, anti-people different than herself, or even anti-vegan. What she does promote is national security, common sense, and freedom based on our Constitution. What can possibly be wrong with those things?

I've decided I won't fear President Obama's continual digging at our nation's unity because I will be shovel ready come election time, and as Governor Palin reminds us, “...we know that there is nothing wrong with America, that together we can't fix as Americans.”

The First Things First Mandate

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Before I get into the subject of this post, let me stop and warn those who don't like to mix faith into, well, anything really, that this post does go down that road. I pray that you are totally comfortable with God, His place within our nation, and the urgency to seek Him at this time.

I was reminded over the last couple days of the battle that so many of us are engaged in. People today are doing their part--no matter how small it may seem--for the future of America. Clearly, we are living in a time that seems stressful and overwhelming, yet it's also one of the most exciting times in our history. I say that because people who had never done anything before, maybe never even cared before, are standing up and speaking out. People have realized that this is not someone else's country, but it's their country and they have to rally the change they want to see. Like never before, housewives, businessmen, actors, and teachers, to name a few, are figuring out what they can do to make a difference. They're going to TEA parties and knocking doors for candidates. They're attending town halls and calling their legislators. They're starting to blog and meeting with like-minded people. The bottom line is they are feeling the urgency of the hour. They are sensing a desperation and are discerning that it's not enough to want more; they have to do more.

I agree. I, too, am trying to do my part to make a difference, to be a voice, to take a stand. But sometimes when we discern a problem, we miss the root of that problem. Not discerning that root is costly because it often causes us to bypass the first things first mandate.

In just the last two days, I've come to understand deeper what we're dealing with. I sense within me that we are in the heat of a major battle, but it's not a battle based solely in a "what-can-I-do?" movement. Yes, we must do. God forbid we do nothing. But I'm sensing the depth of this battle we are engaged in--and it's a spiritual battle. It's a fight for the hearts and minds of people. It's a fight for God's plan for America and Americans, which is under attack. I know, I know, some people would prefer to keep God out of it. That's part of the problem. God cannot be kept out of anything without disaster ensuing!

In the midst of our blogging, our tea partying, and our rallying, God help us to understand that apart from Him we can do nothing. And when hell begins to break loose, as it seems to have done this week, we must understand what is going on--and we cannot have that understanding apart from Him. When we act apart from Him, we go off half-cocked trying to deal with every situation in our own strength, by our own means, and through our own wisdom. And the result of that? We get our own results. This may feel good, look good, and smell good for the moment, but it equals zero in the end.

I have, in the last couple days, seen people willing to embrace rumors rather than believe the best. I have seen people choose to quit rather than stand firm--simply because seeds of doubt were placed within them. I have seen people turn those doubts into accusation, insult, and all-out campaigning for others to join them in their deception. I have experienced mounting anger myself as I have watched it all unfold.

But last night God reminded me of what we're dealing with. God does have a plan. However, His plan, as it draws closer and closer, is always met with opposition. Such opposition involves the very things I've mentioned: deception, severing of relationships, slander. It happens without fail, yet so often we fall into the same habit of responding in the flesh rather than walking in the Spirit. The former leads to frustration. The latter brings added wisdom and an understanding of what is really going on. It brings vision of the bigger picture and refocusing on what we've truly been called to do: intercede, walk by faith, and battle in the Spirit.

This message is urgent because the battle is intensifying, as many who are spiritually sensitive to what is going on will tell you.

Love of nation must be accompanied by dependency on God. America needs that, our leaders need that, and our future depends on that. Any actions taken, no matter how noble, are fruitless without our being "one nation under God."

Many of us have found ourselves disappointed with politics and politicians, wondering where are those who are supposed to serve for the right reasons and do the right things. They may be few and far between, but they do exist. Let's not be deceived. Those who have sacrificed and served in some way, those who paid a price for loving their nation and speaking up for her, those who have been called for this time are also the ones on whom the maligners, the defamers, and the mud-throwers have declared open season. They are those whose names and reputations have been given a beating by those who make a living feasting off them. They are those we need to be praying for. Sarah Palin is one of those people. I support her because she is one of those. And let me make it clear: Those, like Sarah, who have that call carry the weight of that call. Because they are at the center of the battle, they bear a burden most of us will never understand, much less experience ourselves.

Understand, the support of those who have committed themselves to answering God's call is not a fan club or a rock concert. It's spiritual warfare, and though we get out there and defend, and blog, and everything else we do, we must battle first on our knees. First things first. It's necessary, it's serious, it's crucial--and it's NOW.

Waking Up America!!! (A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice)

Have you noticed how vile and disgusting many liberals have become? As a blogger and twitterer, I have become used to the rude and sexually explicit tweets and blog comments I receive on a daily basis. One thing that I noticed is that liberals never focus on concrete, set political comebacks/arguments, but instead on personal attacks. How ironic that these same people who called our previous president, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin stupid and illiterate are unable to justify their disagreements with concrete, factual evidence. This just goes to show how little they actually know about the current issues facing our country. As a proud Christian, conservative young woman, I have made a pact with myself that I would NEVER resort to crude name calling and ridicule when arguing with the other side, but this doesn't mean I have to play nice and remain politically correct 100% of the time. As a former softball player, I'm a tough cookie who is not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. As a born-again Christian, I believe God is directing my path, and I will go wherever he leads me. While I am unsure at times what his path for me may be, I will remain faithful knowing he is in control.

The one thing I wonder about liberals is why they continue to be so bitter and unhappy? After all, their guy won. While there are probably a lot of reasons for their anger and bitterness toward those they do not agree with, I believe the reason lies in what they expect from our newly elected president. Throughout his campaign, President Obama ran on a platform of hope and change (not the kind we find left in our pockets), but now, all I see as a result is hype and pain. While these bitter liberals won't admit it, they voted for a president who is not following through on his promises; furthermore, the policies he is trying to push through the house and senate are not happening quick enough for this impatient crowd. Instead of remaining patient like good little followers, the liberal members of the left are lashing out at those whom they blame for their president's hardships. This cult mentality is what is wrong with the liberal left. They see their Messiah's poll numbers dropping, and suddenly realize that maybe he does not walk on water or is unable to turn water to wine. It becomes dangerous when individuals put so much faith in one person that they begin to lose their own identities. Yet, this is what members of the liberal left are doing. When Obama was elected president, his followers thought all that he promised would happen over night. You remember hearing all his blabbering supporters. One lady said she was so happy because Obama was going to take care of her and she would never have to pay for gasoline or rent ever again. I think my favorite had to be when the infamous Henrietta Hughes stood up at a town hall meeting and basically asked Obama for a house. I'm sorry, but when is enough going to be enough? I'm a hard working woman, Mr. President, where's my bailout? Instead of tightening the belt and living within its means, this administration has gone on a spending frenzy, and our children and grandchildren, even great-grandchildren are going to be left with the tab, but this is a matter for another day. What liberals fail to understand is that we still live America, the greatest country on earth. It is our First-Amendment right to stand up and speak out when we see the values our founding fathers worked so hard to accomplish being tampered with. The liberal left want us to back down and stay quiet like good little soldiers. They are attacking us, using horrific language in an effort to belittle us, hoping that we fall back in line line like good boys and girls. DON'T FALL FOR IT! Did Sarah back down when she was threatened? Has Glenn Beck stopped giving us the straight talk about the motives of the Obama administration and it's czars? HECK NO!!! They remain vigilant in reporting the truth, and we should too!!! We need to continue to voice our concerns because, fellow readers, IT IS WORKING!!! As you all are well aware, Green Jobs Czar Anthony Van Jones, a communist, just stepped down, which set the liberal left on the defensive. You all have to realize that if we come together, we can take our country back to the way our founding fathers meant it to be. Our founding fathers pushed on to make America the land of the free, the home of the brave. We need to return to days when we followed the constitution, when we actually lived out its principles. Yes, the constitution may be words on paper, but the words written in that document are the words that we need to return to, the words we need to live by. Our founding fathers love for our country is clearly evident in that document!!! They believed in freedom, liberty, God and our country. They believed in the value of hard word, not in bailouts and hand outs. The bigger the government, the more government control in you and your family's life. Don't let those who attack you deter you from spreading the message of common sense. They WANT you to cave in. They want you to give up. Don't give in- stay strong because the very future of our country is riding on what you do today and what you say tomorrow. Continue to watch Glenn Beck's show and listen to Sarah's common sense facebook notes, for they both know what it is fight on and live another day!!! The liberals WANT you to cave in because they are threatened by this grassroots movement that is democracy, that is capitalism. I cannot wait for the 9/12 tea parties. Let us send a message to Washington that we are NOT going to cave in and we are NOT going to give up. While we are making progress, the race is far from over. So, fellow patriotic Americans, stand up and let your voices be heard, for when we come together with a common goal, there is no way we can fail!!!

The following is Glenn Beck's statement on the resignation of Van Jones, which can be found on his website:

September 6, 2009 - 18:38 ET
The American people stood up and demanded answers. Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness. I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future.
