Sarah Palin Thanks America for Taking the Lead in Aid to Haiti

Yesterday morning, Governor Palin tweeted her appreciation to fellow Americans and government officials for taking the lead in relief efforts to Haiti after the devastating earthquake there. She urged Americans to donate to reputable organizations like the Red Cross and the Salvation army to aid in this assistance.

Sarah Palin Implores Union Members To Break With Leadership On Backroom Deal

Sarah wasted no time today as she came out swinging early against the late night backroom deal Barack Obama made with the unions, exempting them from the so called "Cadillac tax" on the top of the line insurance policies that some employers offer.

Anyone who even remotely follows politics knows that Obama owes his entire career to the union thugs at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a division of ACORN.




With that in mind, it’s not surprising that Obama would bow to pressure from his union thug masters. I mean why not, he has bowed to everyone else!

Sarah’s call to action is pretty self explanatory:

Union Brothers and Sisters: Your Leadership Doesn’t Get It – You Deserve Better

In the latest to come out of D.C.’s backroom health care deals, President Obama yesterday cut a doozy of a deal with labor union bosses. The fed’s health care plan must be so bad that even union bosses had to go to D.C. to say they wanted out. So... to keep their support for a flawed plan they got an exemption to provisions in the deal that others did not. Small business owners, our families running America’s mom & pops, did not get this deal. Ask yourself: why did union bosses get special treatment? And when did our country’s unions get on the wrong track with moves like this that hurt their good members and put them in such a bad light?

Good hard-working, pro-free-market, pro-America union members should join in opposition to their union bosses’ sweetheart deal. Coming from a union background and living in a world with many union memberships among my family and friends, I know that average members will be embarrassed by their bosses’ deal, which basically only delays the heavy tax on their health care plans until 2018 and in the meantime unfairly leaves many fellow Americans in a much less "enviable" position.

Union members don’t want to stick it to non-union colleagues in the private and public sector. Their union leadership is not helping them in the long run, they’re certainly not helping the rest of America, and unfortunately some union bosses are making all union members look bad, selfish, and anti-business with this Big Government backroom deal.

I know that ordinary union members don’t want to hurt their fellow Americans, just as ordinary Nebraskans didn’t want to stick it to the rest of the country with a sweetheart deal on Medicaid subsidies. I urge union members to make their voices heard. Please, call your leadership – don’t put up with these special-interest politics – tell them to fight for all Americans who want common sense health care reform, not this flawed boondoggle.

Obviously, Sarah speaks with great moral authority here, as there are indeed many union members in her family, including her husband Todd. It’s deals like these that only further cement the union thug image in people’s minds.

Unions are already looked at in an incredibly poor light. This backroom deal does absolutely nothing to help that. This sort of thing is just one more reason why many states, including mine, have tough "right to work" laws that severely limit union activities.

I share the same sentiment Sarah has for the average union worker. Most are hard working, all-American people. It’s management, leadership that is corrupt beyond belief.

Also, like Sarah, I see deals like this, and the sweetheart deals that Ben Nelson got for Nebraska, and Mary Landrieu got for Louisiana, both exempting their states from the harmful effects of ObamaCare, as a sure sign that America needs to pull out all stops when it comes to killing ObamaCare before it ever becomes law!

Why FOX news is yet another smart move by Palin

Sarah Palin shined in 2009 and has kicked off 2010 with a bang, signing on with FOX News as a regular contributor.

“Governor Palin has captivated everyone on both sides of the political spectrum, and we are excited to add her dynamic voice to the Fox News lineup,” said Senior VP of Programming Bill Shine.

Palin's move to FOX as an on-air analyst is just another smart move for someone who was criticized for stepping down as the Governor of Alaska. Since her resignation, Palin has proved she's a political contender by writing a best-selling memoir, coming in neck and neck with Hillary Clinton as one of the most admired women in America, having over 1.1 million followers on Facebook, and becoming one of the top political names being thrown around as a candidate for 2012.

Since Palin signed the multi-year deal with FOX News, the nation can't stop talking about how this will affect Palin's future political plans. Overall, it seems as if it's just another smart political move for someone who has already galvanized a lot of support.

1. Experience
Palin's new Fox gig may be key to helping her become more media savvy, says Jonathan Capehart in The Washington Post. "Doing TV, Palin will learn how to think on her feet … [and] how to debate other people in a forum with no real ground rules."

2. Keeping up with the competition
Palin is not only joining programs across the network, she's also joining a lineup of pundits that includes fellow conservatives Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, and Mike Huckabee. FOX, which has some of the highest-rated political talk shows on cable, now has two potential Republican presidential aspirants in 2012 on its payroll.

3. Representing everyday Americans
Palin connects with her supporters because they see her as an everyday American. Palin's new gig contributes to that image, since Palin now has a regular job. In addition, she will host periodic episodes of FNC's "Real American Stories," a series exploring inspirational real-life tales of overcoming adversity throughout the American landscape that will debut in 2010.

4. Another platform
Palin has more than 1.1 million Facebook followers and her controversial pronouncements on healthcare reform and climate change have stirred a media frenzy. The sharp partisan debates Palin creates will continue to boost Palin's image as she now has a larger platform to discuss the issues close to America's heart.

5. Remaining in the public eye
Palin took the world by storm with her memoir, "Going Rogue." Her national book tour brought out thousands of supporters to each signing. You didn't expect Palin to fade away into the distance did you? With her hiring, Palin is keeping herself in the public eye and national exposure never hurt anyone's political ambitions.

6. Communication with her direct supporters
FOX’s viewers are Palin’s potential voters and core supporters.The ex-governor "is taking a page out of the Ronald Reagan playbook," says Republican strategist Leslie Sanchez, as quoted in CBS News. Reagan had a radio show from 1976 to 1980 and, like Reagan, "Palin will have tremendous support. A lot of primary Republican voters watch Fox News. And she's going to be able to hopefully put together some cogent ideas on domestic policy issues, foreign policy. It's a between platform and could lead her down the road to 2012."

7. Expanding her credibility
Not only does FOX News give Palin a platform to discuss her views to her core supporters, it also gives her a chance to speak to her critics, and strengthen her political image. The regular discussion on politics will allow Palin to expand her credibility and defend herself against the regular media scrutiny that follows the former Governor wherever she goes.

No one's certain how this move will affect Palin's plans for 2012. Some see it as a stepping stone to enter the White House, while others see it as a perfect fit for Palin and her celebrity rock-star status. Not surprisingly, FOX couldn't wait to debut their new contributor on the "O'Reilly Factor" Tuesday night and there's a reason why--Sarah Palin's debut was a ratings hit. "O'Reilly Factor" drew 3.954 million total viewers — more than everything else on cable news in the 8 pm hour combined.

Governor Palin emphasized her Reagan Conservative principles in this interview which lasted half of Sean Hannity's January 14, 2010 show and is part of a series pertaining to Governor Palin signing on with Fox as a News Analyst. The central theme emphasized throughout each segment was small, limited federal government, and how large, overarching government hurts the economy and us as individuals. Governor Palin renewed her pledge to support conservative candidates in 2010 and beyond, even if her own party does not support them ala Doug Hoffman, NY District 23. She emphasized the importance of both parties returning to their core underpinning values.

When asked what she would say to Obama if she had the opportunity to talk with him, Governor Palin said that she would emphasize her peace through strength message and call for him to be more decisive -- much less "hand-wringing and dithering." She re-emphasized other core messages: low taxes and the dangers of Obama's health care bill, which she said would mirror the British system which does have panels of bureaucrats deciding who is deserving of treatment.

Sean Hannity concluded by asking Governor Palin who she would profile if she had a show of her own. "What I would like to focus on for our children, I want to find real role models, I want to find those who should be our celebrities, those who we would be proud, Sean for our children to look up to and say 'I want to be like that person.' That person would maybe never be in a spotlight, but they work hard to put food on the table for their family. They're selfless. They're helping others, they're compassionate, they have a strong, strong work ethic. I want to find those people across America, I want to profile them and I want to say, 'kids you can be like that person, because this is America.'" Hannity responded, "so, in other words you would do profiles on great Americans we would never hear about every day."

"Absolutely, absolutely!" she said.

Sarah Palin's First Appearance on Hannity as a FOX News Contributor

Governor Palin's first appearance on Hannity on Thursday as a FOX News contributor followed her debut on Tuesday on the O'Reilly Factor and her interview with Glenn Beck on Wednesday.

Historical Moments in Time: Sarah Palin

I was browsing the magazine section at Barnes and Noble the other day when a particular magazine caught my eye. The title was "Historical Moments in Time: Sarah Palin". Anything Sarah draws my attention but this one was different. This magazine is all about Sarah and even includes excerpts from the Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, and Rush Limbaugh interviews. The headline on the cover says it all "America Let's Take Back Our Country! The Case for Sarah Palin".


I love how "The Case for Sarah" starts out with Ronald Reagan's speech "A Time for Choosing". The authors choose excerpts of Reagan's speech that mirror Sarah's own beliefs. Here are a few excerpts:

You and I are told we must choose between a left or right but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man's age-old dream0the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order-or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path...The Founding Fathers knew a government can't control the economy without controlling the people...the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector.

It is refreshing to read how the authors back up Sarah's beliefs with those of Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. The main stream media during the 2008 campaign did it's best to discredit Sarah and down play her role in politics. But as Margaret Thatcher once said "in politics if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman."

This magazine goes through Sarah's rise on the national stage as well as her accomplishment as Governor of Alaska. These accomplishments include investing $5 billion in state savings, implementing a Senior Benefits Program that provides support for older, low-income Alaskans and an overhaul of education. The highlight of which had to be her "common-sense" oil and natural gas resource development. I'm sure that all Alaskans will remember Sarah as the pioneer who brought them a gas line.

A Gas Pipeline is a key part of our state's future. It will provide affordable energy and good jobs for Alaskans. We will also take care to ensure that a natural gas pipeline would cause minimal impact on sensitive arctic environments.

Of course there are those who insist on the stupidity of Sarah Palin. "They" continually say that she is a quitter who doesn't have anything to offer. But in the words of her father, Chuck Heath, "She's not retreating, she's reloading!"



In the 63 pages, from cover to cover, you will find excerpts from the now famous Oprah, Barbara Walters and Rush interviews along with so much more. I could continue to review the magazine for you, but I would rather you read it for yourselves. However, I will give a few more tidbits.

To my surprise as I first flipped through the magazine looking at the pictures, I ran across another familiar face...my own. The picture below was taken at a rally in Fredricksburg Virginia in late October 2008. There beneath the text in the lower right hand corner is me (look for the red box).



You will also find Sarah's views on the economy, health care reform, the sanctity of life, the military, and the world. In addition, there is a short list of Sarah supporting blogs! If you know anyone who needs to know the real Sarah, please hand them a copy of "Historical Moments in Time: Sarah Palin" as well as a copy of Going Rogue!

So...What Else Is New?

Did you for one minute expect that a Sarah Palin appearance on FOX News would drive the ratings down? I just read this article - sorry, but I'm a little behind today - and I want to be sure you see it.

Palin FNC Ratings Sky High

The Nielsen ratings are in and former V.P. hopeful Sarah Palin hit the nearly 4 million viewer jackpot last night for her debut appearance on Fox News's "The O'Reilly Factor" as a Fox News contributor. The count: 3,954,000 people tuned in to watch Palin last night.

That number is up 42 percent from the same night last year, and up 26 percent compared to every other day of the show in January.

Palin's appearance beat out CNN's Campbell Brown, who had 999,000 viewers last night. The show also beat every ABC program between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., which included shows like "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted."

In November when Palin appeared on "The O'Reilly Factor" as a guest, the show had an audience of 3,868,000 viewers.

I wonder how many of those viewers were like me? Sarah Palin was the ONLY reason I watched Bill O'Reilly the other night. And she's the only reason I watched Glenn Beck yesterday. In fact, it's the History Channel, NASA-TV or Lifetime for me UNLESS Sarah Palin is on another channel.

People will no doubt say things like, "I don't know where those numbers came from. Nobody I know watched her." Shows that you don't know too many people, doesn't it?
