November 30, 2009 Synopsis of Governor Palin's Accomplishments

Governor Palin's accomplishments over the past two months distill to four core areas: book tour, media Interviews, commercial speaking engagements, and communicating with us via Facebook Notes and Tweets.

Going Rogue Book Tour

Going Rogue: An American Life was released on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. The book had already earned number one positions in pre-order sales at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The tour began on Wednesday, November 18 in Grand Rapids, MI -- the state for which McCain campaign aides said Governor Palin was "going rogue" when she issued a statement that she wanted to continue campaigning there -- and the basis of the book's title. The tour moved east, then south, stopping for Thanksgiving and is now underway once more. The book tour will stop in the western half of the United States, with a brief return east and conclude on December 10. Retail sales of Going Rogue exceeded 700,000 during the first week of the tour.

For those unable to make a signing for whatever reason, a $100 donation to either SarahPAC or the Republican Governors Association will earn you a signed copy -- a sweet deal, considering that people are spending $500 or more to travel to signing events.

Media Interviews

Concomitant with the book tour, Governor Palin conducted interviews with Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Greta Van Susteren, Eddie Burke, among others.

Commercial Speaking Engagements

Governor Palin addressed the Wisconsin Right to Life group on November 6, 2009. She will be speaking to student at the College of the Ozarks on citizenship, involvement and patriotism on December 2, 2009; the Salina, KS Chamber of Commerce on February 5, 2010, the National Tea Party Convention on February 6, 2010, and a Sierra Cascade Logging Conference on February 8, 2010.

These are Washington Speakers Bureau speeches, which means there is a prohibition on media coverage and recording of the content for dissemination. Professional reporters and some bloggers have attached a negative connotation to this prohibition, but these are commercial, copyrighted speeches, and re-broadcasting them diminishes the value of them.

Facebook and Twitter

Governor Palin has published Facebook Notes on health care, energy independence, and national security during these past two months. One item, "Drill" was published in National Review. Governor Palin now has well over 1 million supporters on Facebook; her new Twitter account SarahPalinUSA has nearly 32,000 followers. Her old Twitter account, AKGovSarahPalin was decommissioned. This author has archived Tweets from that account.

60 Minutes: Vote Sarah Palin Most Influential Conservative

In an unscientific poll conducted by 60 Minutes and Vanity Fair, Governor Palin is currently ranked as the fourth most influential conservative voice in the United States. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and former Vice President Cheney have the number one through three ranks respectively. Talk show host, Sean Hannity is fifth, ranking behind Governor Palin (60 Minutes Poll, 2009).

Governor Palin's ranking is fantastic considering that she does not have a nationally syndicated talk show on either radio or TV; and has not held high federal office. From the foregoing, we see that she is ranked more influential than Sean Hannity who has nationally syndicated talk shows on both radio and TV!

Governor Palin's core communications methods are her Facebook and Twitter accounts.

But...let's not settle for No. 4. Get her to Number 1! Get on and vote!

6 ½ Minutes of Perfection

Texas has a lot to be proud of, and so do Texans. Our sports teams are not always the champions when the final whistle blows, but if they want to stay in Texas they know they have to give 100% every time they step on their field of play. Texans will go along with a “wait until next year” attitude as long as the players provide the good entertainment of playing to their best potential.

This is true whether the sport is football, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, hockey or any other sport at any level. Friday nights in Texas are a good time to run a red light in small-town Texas. Everyone, including the police department, is probably at the local high school football game.

There is a pride that comes with being a Texan. Even for those who were not born in Texas but got here as soon as they could. We are one of the most diverse states geographically from the Panhandle to the Gulf Coast; from mountain to desert; from the evergreens in East Texas to the mostly barren land of West Texas.

We take a great deal of pride in knowing that our flag flies in freedom – the same freedom our Texas forefathers fought to preserve at the Alamo and San Jacinto. The Lone Star State is just that – we ARE the lone star on the Texas State Flag.

God is number one priority for many Texans with our families running a close second. Our State pride extends to our nation and the Constitution paid for by the very blood of the patriots who fought for our independence from the king. From that time to this, we support our military on whatever battlefield they may find themselves.

We have little patience for those who don’t support our military and go so far as to protest everything from their uniforms to their goals. Some people are wimps, and in our eyes, if you don’t support our military, you fit in that category.

Supposedly, we find out Tuesday night just how big a wimp Obama is. He is scheduled to announce his long overdue decision on sending the additional man-power our troops in Afghanistan need to make headway toward the victory they are determined to win. Most Texans would very much appreciate it if Obama would say the word “victory” much less admit that our troops – the greatest military in the world – will win that victory.

The world around us seems to be going to hell in a handbasket, but Obama sits there in the People’s House trying to make “the right decision.” It should have been a simple one for him. It would have been a simple one for him if his heart was set on supporting our military and our nation.

Among all the differences between Sarah Palin as chief executive of her State and Obama as the supposed chief executive of our nation, apart from his Socialistic policies, is the support Sarah Palin shows for our troops. As Governor, she attended many deployment and return ceremonies for Alaska troops and never neglects to voice her thanks to our military with every opportunity. Obama, on the other hand, was busy and couldn’t get to Fort Hood after the massacre they (and we by extension) endured at the hands of an Islamic terrorist.

At least two of the stops Sarah Palin is making as she travels America promoting her book were set for military bases, Fort Bragg and Fort Hood. At all of the stops she has made to this point, there can be seen military uniforms. I have seen some photographs that seem to show her face softening just a bit as she shakes hands with a military person and says thank you to them.

Thanksgiving is a big event in Texas as a time for families to get together over turkey with all the trimmings to give thanks for our blessings after which most Texans flock to their televisions for the Texas – Texas A & M football game.

Tradition? You want to talk about tradition? There you have it in burnt orange and maroon.

Even if your degree came from one of our other fine institutions of higher learning, during that game you are on one side or the other. This tradition may be the only thing that can divide a Texas family even for only a few hours.

Even those who lean to the burnt orange admire and respect the traditions of Texas A & M. Especially the band.
Here is a military-based organization exhibiting with every performance the pride and precision of the best of our nation – our military in uniform. The Fighting Aggie Band is as close to perfection as exists in the United States. Every time I watch them perform, I think about our military men and women fighting even today for our freedoms on far-away battlefields.

From the band Seniors with their distinctive boots to the drum majors standing at attention, their uniforms tell you immediately that many of these young men and women are the best Texas has to offer and may be the generals and commanders of future military operations. Even in their tightest marching formations, the music they are playing reverberates through the stadium much the same way our hearts swell with pride over the men and women serving in the various military branches of the United States today.

Obama, this is just for you. You need to see what 6 ½ minutes of perfection looks like. You need to see the determination and pride it takes to come together as separate and diverse individuals to form a cohesive unit in military fashion. You need to know that America supports our soldiers – even before they take the military oath. So sit back in your easy chair, Obama, and watch what the people of Texas think about our military.

Sarah Paln: If We're In It, Lets Win It

As Thanksgiving festivities wind down we contemplate all we have to be thankful for as free Americans! We head into the Christmas season wishing for leadership in Washington that reflects our commitment to the values and ideals that have built the freest and most prosperous and generous nation on earth.

Heading into December and Tuesday’s announcement of our nation’s strategy in Afghanistan, I ask the President to reassure us that the administration is in this War on Terror to
win.

And I’ll pass along the following from
Harold B. Estes, a 95-year-old member of the Greatest Generation: “I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out.”

Thank you, Mr. President. Please tell us on Tuesday that America is in it to
win.

- Sarah Palin

Going Rogue, An American Life, Is An American Treasure

If you are not one of the nearly one million people who have purchased and read Sarah Palin’s new book, Going Rogue, An American Life, then you are missing out on one of the really great treats and treasures of our time.

One doesn’t actually read Going Rogue, they experience it. You experience Sarah Palin’s life as she takes you from a young girl growing in the rugged Alaska wilderness through her days as a championship basketball player, a city councilwoman, mayor, oil and gas regulator, reformer, Governor, and vice presidential candidate. All told in Sarah’s wonderfully enjoyable way.

The book is so much more than just an account of Sarah Palin’s life though. Rush Limbaugh has called it "truly one of the most substantive policy books" that he has ever read, and that it is. However, you won’t find a single chart, graph, or bullet point anywhere in the book. Going Rogue is a book of philosophy, and book of strategy. Going Rogue is a book of great inspiration, and of great triumphs.

If up to this point you have only relied on reviews from the old, corrupt Obamacentric media, to tell you about Sarah’s book, then you have been poorly served. Most of the dishonest media will have you believe this is some sort of vindictive "tell all" or "score settling" book. Whatever it takes to sell papers and get ratings, I suppose.

The truth is, Sarah tells her story, all of her story, but is very generous, even to those who served her poorly, or caused her grief. If you buy the book looking for fireworks, or to see her dishing up dirt, you’ll be sorely disappointed. This just isn’t Sarah Palin’s style. Frankly we have written more extensively and brutally about those in Alaska who have attacked her and her family than Sarah herself does.

Sarah touches on the attacks by the hate bloggers, and she mentions the ties they have to Barack Obama through his campaign chief-of-staff, now White House adviser, Pete Rouse. She talks about the fictitious "Troopergate" affair, and how things completely changed once Obama’s team got involved. She spends a few pages discussing how Obama’s involvement, and how Chicago thug politics poisoned the once friendly atmosphere of Alaska politics.

Sarah also spends some time discussing the McCain campaign. Again, if you are looking for mud slinging, you are going to be highly disappointed. Sarah tells her side of the story, discusses the events in great detail. She takes responsibility for her errors, and points out where she felt things could have been done better. Not a vindictive word to be found.

Instead, Sarah takes you through the process of being chosen as a candidate, and running for Vice President. It’s a fascinating behind the scenes look at how things work.

Sarah has nothing but high praise for John McCain in the book. You know that she has a great admiration and respect for the Senator and his family. This comes through loud and clear every time she speaks of John and Cindy.

The same can be said for the much talked about Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson interviews. She talks about them, tells you where she went wrong, how she felt they were a bad idea to start with, then moves on to more important things.

You'll find Sarah to be frank about things all throughout the book. This is a woman who is comfortable with herself and has no problem talking about the way she sees things. This is a strong, determined woman, who is also very open and candid as she tells her story.

Most of the book centers on her family and her remarkable life. Sarah takes us through her pregnancy with her beautiful son Trig. Here she lets us in on the intimate details, her inner most thoughts and feelings. You feel the love that Sarah has for all of her children in this book, and her great love and admiration for Todd as well. You can’t help but admire Todd as a wonderfully strong husband and father. A real man’s man, who supports Sarah in every way.

You’ll also be pleased to learn that Sarah’s wicked sense of humor shows up all throughout the book, making a good read into a great read.

This is what you really get with this book, a look at one of America’s most amazing women, up close, personal, and in her own words. You get a look at Alaska. You feel Sarah’s great love for her state, of the land, and of nature. You feel the magnificence of Alaska through her words.

Regular readers know that my background is not in politics, but in sales and management. While I’ve enjoyed reading books of all kind, I most enjoy books dealing with business, written by those great masters like Lee Iaccoca, Jim McKay, and Bob Lutz. Going Rogue is certainly this type of book. Going Rogue is truly a book on successful management, as well as business and political strategy.

If you read Sarah’s book, you will find it to be just as Limbaugh describes it, a substantial book on policy. Oh, she doesn’t go on and on for pages about how she will do things, there are no charts or bullet points. No lectures.

Instead, you’ll find that every page is a lesson in philosophy, policy, and strategy. All of this is intertwined with Sarah’s accounting of her life.

This is what makes Going Rogue one of those rare treasures of a book:

If you are a fan, who simply wants to know more about this remarkable woman, you will come away pleased and fulfilled. Sarah takes you through her life, and her style of writing makes you really experience it all. Her words have you visualizing the events as they unfold. You will come away with great admiration for Sarah and her family. You find these are truly nice people. Regular folks who you would like to have as your friends and neighbors.

If you are someone who is more interested in what makes Sarah tick, politically, well, you are certainly in for a treat! Again, there are no charts or graphs, but throughout the book, Sarah’s philosophy on life, and politics comes through. If you read Going Rogue, you will learn how she governed in Alaska, and how she would govern as President. How she looks at the world. What her policies on the economy, national security, and energy are.

If you are not already familiar with Sarah’s significant record of accomplishments, you will be by the time you are through. You will learn why Sarah had such a high approval rating (mid 80's) among some of the most independent minded voters in America. You’ll learn why the democrat/communists, as well as the Republican "elites" fear her, and why millions support her.

You’ll also learn that Sarah is not some far right ideologue. Instead you’ll find that common sense is what rules the day. You’ll find someone who is willing to work with anyone, as long as they are working toward a common goal, and some good old fashioned common sense is being employed. You learn that Sarah Palin is someone who knows how to get things done.

Something else, you’ll learn that Sarah Palin is a bold leader. Sarah is not someone who is afraid to do big things, or afraid to do things differently to get results, and her record shows she gets results.

In the end, if you don’t read another book this year, you should read Going Rogue. This book is a pure joy to read, and you will find yourself not wanting to put it down. You will find Sarah to be likable, and inspiring. After all, this is a woman who was literally raised in a log cabin on the rugged landscape of Alaska, who has become one of America’s brightest shining stars.

Going Rogue, like Sarah Palin herself, is a real American treasure.

One Word about Going Rogue

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Just finished Going Rogue. Closed the book--and wept.

It wasn't the first time I wept while reading Sarah Palin's bestseller, but it will be the part that will remain with me.

I have given my word to those still reading who were afraid I'd give something away that there was nothing to fear; I won't give anything away. I don't like when people cheat me like that. It drives me nuts. So I will offer no details on content, just express my reaction. If you don't want to hear even that much, now's the time to log off!

I couldn't help but be overcome with emotion at various points throughout, but especially so at the end. This book speaks a word to me that Sarah Palin's life has spoken to me for over a year now: Destiny.

When she showed up on the scene as John McCain's running mate and I got to learn about her life, I was overwhelmed with a sense of destiny. God began to deal with me specifically about destiny. I still tell people today what He showed me through her life. I have always expressed it this way: "Here was a woman who was minding her own business, loving her God, adoring her family, governing her state. Simply as she was faithful to do that, God (not Senator McCain) tapped her on the shoulder and said, 'Come up a little higher.'" I have been in awe of that for more than a year now. It still speaks to me.

As I read the book, particularly the ending, I could see destiny tied up in every aspect of the Governor's life. She was just living her life, enjoying it--content. But the plan of God was about to unfold in a way that she may never have expected--at least not at that time. How incredible is God's plan.

But even as God spoke to me about Governor Palin's destiny over a year ago now, He added: "Don't get so caught up in stargazing, in watching someone else fulfill her destiny, that you miss your own. I have a plan for you, too."

I found myself for a time consumed with the concept of destiny.

I have always known that God had called me to, dare I say, greatness. I say that humbly, for I knew, even at a pretty young age, that God's hands were upon my life. How strange it is now to remember that I could never find words to describe what I was feeling until I heard...of all people...Oprah Winfrey say many years ago that she had known she was destined for greatness. When I heard her say it, I said, "Yes, that's it! That's what I've been feeling!" I was amazed when just a few months ago, a friend from church used Oprah's life as an example of what she felt God was doing in my life (not her politics, just her story).

When the world got to meet Sarah Palin, I was reminded of the big picture, not just about her, but about me. And one thing I feel the Governor has done is incite people to rise up and take a stand in their own lives. I knew that it was good to support her--which I do wholeheartedly--but with an understanding of how God works, how He desires to lead all of us into the specific plan He has for us. My pastor always says, "God's plan is Plan 'A' for your life. There is no Plan 'B,'" and I believe that. I began to feel stirred up to live out God's plan for my life. It's not good enough to watch someone else fulfill her call; we've got to desire to fulfill our own great call, as well. To be honest, greatness is simply doing what it is you're supposed to be doing, no matter what it is. Sometimes that call is helping someone fulfill theirs. Whatever it is, I am determined to live out my life with God's original intent.

I was truly overcome with destiny at that time, and recently that awareness has returned. I am seeing God do things that only He could do. I am watching in awe at His favor, His grace, His blessings--and I see that it all flows from the destiny that He's had in mind all along.

My church has prayer service every Saturday night. This evening, as we prayed, I was again bombarded with that word: destiny. I began to pray aloud about it, to voice what I felt in my heart: We existed in the mind of God before the foundations of the Earth were laid. God has been fashioning us and forming us. We were created in exquisite detail to fulfill His divine purpose. Our likes, our dislikes, our passions, our personalities, even the things we've gone through, all serve a purpose. He had already determined how He would cause even the most unpleasant circumstances, those He would've liked to shield us from, to work together for our good, for His purpose. It is a thought too intense for me to fully wrap my brain around, but I have a decent handle on it.

I came home from prayer and set out to read the rest of Going Rogue, and the closer I got to the end, the more the book screamed, "DESTINY!" That's really what it speaks to me--that and how human Sarah, the person, is. I see her life traveling down this road to that road to another road--and the journey continues. I see someone who has the imprint of God's hand all over her life as He takes her where He wants her to go. No, I am not saying we are robots or puppets in His hand. Far from it, but when we decide to be soft and pliable clay, He molds us and shapes us, and we end up being what He always intended. We arrive at the place He had already prepared: Plan 'A.'

I see that in Sarah Palin.

The end of her book brought me to tears, as it speaks what I know to be true: when we are open and available to Him--in spite of the challenges that are sure to come, in spite of those who seek to destroy us, in spite of the unexpected--we can't help but be in a good place, make an impact, and, most of all, fulfill the destiny God has for our lives. And sometimes, just sometimes, it's much bigger than we could have ever anticipated.

I finished the book--and I wept. I wept because of the goodness of God in the life of Sarah Palin--past, present, and future. But I also wept at the potential of my own.

It all comes down to one thing for me: Destiny.

Sarah Palin Talks About Her Faith During Her Visit With Billy Graham

Governor Sarah Palin has often spoken of her faith in God as her source of strength in the many challenges she has faced in life. In the video below (h/tp Martha at @JoinTeamSarah), she refers to her faith in God, her family, and her freedom in America as the most important things in her life. It is her faith that has set the moral compass that has guided her life and her career.

Governor Palin met with Billy Graham and his family at Reverend Graham's mountaintop home in Montreat, North Carolina last Sunday evening. While she was there, she recorded a video segment in which she talked about her faith in Christ. Here is the first clip from that session:

According to the BGEA website, additional video clips will be posted on their website on November 30 and December 4. More details about their visit can be found here and here.
