Katie Couric & the Lamestream Media

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

When Katie Couric interviewed Governor Palin during the 2008 campaign, America saw a badgering piranha who had a clear agenda. That agenda was not to be fair and balanced and facilitate an interview that would allow the American people to hear from the governor and then make up their minds about her. It was not to present the truth in honest journalistic fashion. Her whole agenda seemed to be to demean, deride, and hound the governor right out of the gate on one issue in particular: abortion. Throughout the interview she looked condescendingly at Governor Palin, blinking wildly, obviously put off by this Republican woman with the unmitigated temerity to be unapologetically pro-life. Then she edited, spliced, and released something that misrepresented the interview. She might very well be the actual impetus for the phrase that has gained such notoriety since those elections: lamestream media.

Contrast her treatment of Governor Palin to her treatment Sunday of Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's Chief of Staff. Couric could barely keep from smiling, and might as well have put him on her lap, rocked him back and forth, and told him to blow while she wiped his nose. Was this an interview or was this Mommy taking care of Baby? I know spring is here, but it's a bit early still for softball. Couric was full of smiles as she interviewed Obama's right hand man. She might as well have held his hand.

Anybody with even one eye can see that the media is in the tank for Obama. There's no surprise there. When we get a chance to see something like this, though, we have to wonder if they even have the sense to pretend--you know, to do a little acting so their agenda is not so obvious. Perhaps Katie could have stopped smiling long enough to provide even the appearance of being something other than an obsessive liberal partisan.

I'm not suggesting that Emanuel should have been given the same treatment Governor Palin received. Katie's behavior during that particular interview was, frankly, embarrassing as she beat Governor Palin over the head twelve times on the issue of abortion. The governor wrote on page 277 of Going Rogue, "I began to feel like I was in the movie Groundhog Day." Yet during a time of various serious national issues, health care being one of them, Ms. Couric couldn't stop smiling long enough to even feign nonpartisanship while having tea with Emanuel. I suppose that's her modus operandi when dealing with the Left, though. After all, Joe Biden told her that FDR was president when the stock market crashed and that he talked about it on television, yet Katie said nothing. Maybe she didn't know to correct him. I wonder what she reads.

No surprise people like Katie Couric are losing their credibility with the people. More and more Americans are resenting the lamestream media's attack on their intelligence as they refuse to be fair and balanced in their reports. Our patience is increasingly declining, which might explain Couric's declining ratings.

Below are clips from her interviews with Governor Palin and Rahm Emanuel.
