Gov Palin's AK Documentary 8 Parts on TLC

Governor Palin's documentary series about Alaska is to run eight hours and will be broadcast on The Learning Channel, a subsidiary of Discovery Communications. Emmy Award winner Mark Burnett will be the executive producer (Discovery Communications, 2010, ¶1). Following is the complete transcript of the remainder of the release:

"Our family enjoys Discovery's networks," said Governor Sarah Palin. "I look forward to working with Mark to bring the wonder and majesty of Alaska to all Americans" (Discovery Communications, 2010, ¶2).

"Discovery Communications is so excited to help Sarah Palin tell the story of Alaska, and to have a great documentary filmmaker in Mark Burnett helping to reveal Alaska's powerful beauty as it has never been filmed, and as told by one of the state's proudest daughters," said Peter Liguori, Chief Operating Officer, Discovery Communications (Discovery Communications, 2010, ¶3).

"TLC is grounded in great storytelling, strong characters, and passionate audiences drawn to extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. We are confident SARAH PALIN'S ALASKA will be another compelling television event," said Eileen O'Neill, president and general manager, TLC (Discovery Communications, 2010, ¶4).

The series reunites the company with Mark Burnett Productions, which co-produced ECO-CHALLENGE, the precursor to Survivor, for Discovery Channel from 1996-1999 (Discovery Communications, 2010, ¶5).

"With a dynamic personality that has captivated millions, I can't think of anyone more compelling than Sarah Palin to tell the story of Alaska," said Mark Burnett. "I'm thrilled to reunite with Discovery on this project, which brings together one of the most fascinating figures of our time with one of the most wondrous places on earth" (Discovery Communications, 2010, ¶6)

As anyone who has listened to Gov. Palin's speeches about Alaska, she is extremely knowledgeable about the state. I once wrote that one day, we hope to take Gov. Palin out of Alaska - for eight years - but no one will ever take Alaska out of her. Peter Liguori, Mark Burnett and the other parties involved have made a sound decision and we look forward to seeing Sarah Palin's Alaska.
