Santa was the celebrity today

Today is Christmas a time when we cherish spending time with friends and family as we take part in the celebrations of the day. However, for some, the hard times produced by a sluggish economy makes it difficult to provide a Christmas meal. Many communities help by providing a place for people to gather while also providing a hearty Christmas dinner. One community is Wasilla Alaska. The Frontiersman newspaper has a great article about today’s Christmas Friendship Dinner.

As the former vice-presidential candidate served up mashed potatoes and turkey to a long line of hungry visitors, Santa was still wide awake after pulling an all-nighter delivering gifts around the world. Both were all smiles as they chatted with and served up food and presents to hundreds at the 18th annual Christmas Friendship Dinner at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center.

According to The Frontiersman, even Sarah Palin couldn’t upstage Santa! But the truth of the matter is I bet that she would not have even tried. It is all about the season and the spirit of giving, not about celebrity or status. Even Sarah said as much in her tweet this morning “Merry Christmas morning from the Palins! Joy,peace, rest&increased faith for you&your family this season. Jesus is the Reason for the Season!” May God bless us all and we head into the new year and new challenges.
