How to "Fly 'Sarah' from Wasilla to Washington"
There is no need to email us donation amounts or post them on comments. As long as you donate through an US for Palin graphic or hyperlink to the Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund, we'll know about it, whether it's on the US for Palin site or a venue where its content is syndicated.

Let's help the Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund reach new heights and get Gov. Palin to Washington!

To Edmonton City Centre

For "Sarah", Edmonton City Centre was a significant stop on her journey to Washington. As Alaska's Governor, she had spearheaded the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act, which is making possible a 1715-mile pipeline from the North Slope to a hub in Alberta, Canada. Thence, natural gas would transit to the Lower 48. For 30 years, this had been a pipe dream. By 2019, it will be a pipeline. "Sarah" was going to meet "Prime Minister Harper," "Gov. Parnell" and several key officials from both her home state and Canada to discuss the status of the project.

Laura wanted this flight to land in the very early morning hours, because major airports are ill-suited to small planes likes this Cessna 172 during peak hours. Controllers expect these little planes to keep up with the airliners on final approach. Laura wanted no part of that and she did not want her passenger to experience a stressful, hair-raising end to what was supposed to be a joyful flight. She advised "Sarah" that Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Duluth would all be "red-eyes."

All gear stowed, safety briefing, and run-up done, clearance obtained, the pair were ready to go.

The flight would proceed south, then about 90 minutes later turn southeast. Much of this leg was flown between cloud layers and in clouds.

Laura and "Sarah" spoke about the forthcoming meeting, and "Sarah's" future. "Well, there's lots of good people in the GOP," "Sarah" said. Laura turned to her, looked her in the eye, and said "remember the Tea Party Convention?" "Yes" "Remember how it ended?" "Yes." Laura, continued. "Your rally with Michele Bachmann....Sarah...I've noticed that everywhere you go, these people are crying out to you. They want YOU. I'm not saying some others in the GOP can't do the job. They probably could. But now is not the time for a mediocre leader who can minimally do the job. We're at a special place in our history, Sarah. People feel a kind of excitement for you that has not been felt at least in my lifetime - not even for our hero, Ronald Reagan."

Laura finished, "Sarah: You've been summoned.".

IFR at Night - Valley of Darkness

Laura saw that "Sarah" became a little pensive - prayerful, perhaps. Laura turned to some papers she had beneath her flight documents and read them silently and quickly. She came upon her turning point and turned the flight southeast. Edmonton City Centre was still a little over two hours away. "Need someone one to pray with you?" Laura asked? "Sarah" answered, "how did you know?" "I saw you debate Biden...the look you had when you wanted to pray, you had just now," Laura said. "Here, take these," Laura said handing "Sarah" the papers she furtively read beneath her flight documents a few minutes earlier. Laura is a member of Prayer Warriors for Sarah Palin and she had printed Psalms 23, 27, and 63. The latter two, "Sarah" had actually requested the Warriors to recite back in 2008, but they were still apropos. Laura added Psalm 23, because flying through clouds at night is quite arguably flying through a valley of darkness. After "Sarah" read the papers, conversation fell silent.

Approaching Edmonton City Centre

A half hour from City Centre, Laura was given a clearance for an instrument approach to a north-facing runway. She accepted it with pleasure, though the conditions at the time were perfect for a visual approach. "Sarah...enjoy this view. Airports in city centers are becoming rare. Of course we have Anchorage Merrill Field, and Toronto has an airport in its city center. Chicago had one too - Meigs Field - until Mayor Daley destroyed it by fiat." "Typical Chicago politics," "Sarah" chimed in. "Yes. We must carefully guard our freedoms, and this goes back to why I think you have been summoned, Sarah. You get it. The others do not. And quite frankly, they're not leaders."

Laura was instructed to descend to 3700 feet and vectored to final approach. The runway and the city appeared in the distance.

Soon, Laura was on glide-slope and she coupled the approach to the autopilot, managing her power settings resulting in a smooth, stable, perfect descent. The nice, long, well lighted runway beckoned.

Off her right wing, "Sarah" could see downtown Edmonton.

The landing was perfect and taxi to parking was brief. Laura felt a rush of joy. Now, it was time to get some sleep.
