UPDATE: A Birthday for Trig and a National Television Debut for this Conservative Girl
UPDATE: MAKE SURE TO TUNE IN TO WHEEL OF FORTUNE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT, APRIL 21, BECAUSE I AM GOING TO BE A CONTESTANT. I TAPED MY EPISODE BACK AT THE END OF JANUARY, AND CONTESTANT COORDINATORS SAID JUST MAKING THE SHOW IS A FETE IN ITSELF. OVER 6 MILLION INDIVIDUALS SUBMIT APPLICATIONS EACH YEAR, GOING THROUGH THE AUDITION PROCESS, AND OF THOSE 6 MILLION, FEWER THAN 600 ARE CHOSEN AS CONTESTANTS EACH YEAR. I AM TRULY BLESSED!!! YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE HERE. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LISTINGS FOR CHANNELS/SHOW TIMES, AND SPREAD THE WORD; THANKS!!!
Just this past Sunday, little Trig Palin turned two years old. This Conservative Girl with a Voice is sure that this precious, little angel had a great birthday enjoying cake, ice cream and opening presents. Trig is such a gift to those around him, and the Palin clan is so lucky to have him in their lives. I wrote a heart-filled post this past summer about Trig and my pro-life stance that I have decided to re-post below:
This entry comes as I am traveling down the road. As a young woman, abortion is a topic that seems to be looked at by many as not much of a phenomenon, which is is very sad given the circumstances of what actually takes place during an abortion. I know it is not very politically correct to voice a personal opinion, but frankly I really don't care :) So this is going to be an entry from the heart, and frankly, I wish the folks in D.C. would speak from the heart on matters that personally effect them.
As a woman who values life, it pains me to think about the endless number of unborn babies who lose their lives to abortion each year. I began taking my pro-life stance seriously when I entered my mid 20s. All life is precious, and a baby deserves the chance to grow up. If given the chance, he or she may grow up to become to become a doctor, teacher, lawyer, or even president. The possibilities for these children are endless.
As you all know, my role model is Sarah Palin. The ultimate reason I respect her so much is because she walks the walk, which is the reason so many fear her. Those who fear her are unable to do so. In choosing life, Sarah welcomed into the world, a precious, perfect baby boy, Trig, who was born with Down Syndrome. Trig is not only the apple of his family's eyes, but of Americans everywhere as he captured the hearts and minds of Americans when we were first introduced to him during the 2008 presidential campaign. There are so many children like Trig all over our great country, and while it is true that children with special needs will face challenges, the joys they will experience will far surpass the challenges that will come their way. It is sad to think that so many children with birth defects are aborted each year; the numbers are staggering. During the 2008 presidential campaign, I remember hearing that an estimated 90% of unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted each year. When I look at beautiful children like Trig, I can't imagine how someone could choose to abort a sweet, innocent child with little fingers and toes, who will one day grow big enough to hold on to his or her mommy or daddy's hand and big enough to sit on daddy's shoulders. It's the everyday little things that matter most.
Life is precious and a woman who chooses life should be commended. In just having the baby and choosing life, she is giving her baby a chance. Yes, it is true that some women are not able to care for their newborns, but there are so many parents out there looking to adopt. If adoption was discussed more, I believe more women would choose life. Women unable to have children and those parents just wanting the chance to adopt would also greatly benefit. I know women who unexpectedly become pregnant are scared and sometimes don't know whom to turn, but those who choose life are heroes in my eyes and deserve our continuous thanks and support. Bristol Palin is a young woman who deserves just that. In choosing life, she welcomed the sweetest, most beautiful baby boy into the world and should be commended for keeping her baby. As she told Fox News' Greta Van Susteran, she can't even begin to imagine life without her sweet baby boy, Tripp. Bristol is a great example of a young woman, who despite her circumstances, persevered and became a stronger woman who is now a great mother;little Tripp is lucky to have her.
In closing, I began writing this entry a couple days ago while traveling to my family's cabin near Lake Tahoe. Since I started writing this entry, I have had the chance to sit amongst the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and reflect upon my pro-life stance and how important it is in my life along with my faith in Jesus Christ. Becoming a mother changes a woman's life, and I can't wait till the day I have children of my own. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding God-given responsibilities, full of a lot of firsts: First word, first step, first haircut, first day of school, first dance and first boyfriend or girlfriend. These are milestones in a child's life; don't all children deserve the opportunity to reach these important milestones? I can't wait to experience all of these firsts with my children. Although being a parent can be tough at times, the joys that comes along with being a parent make it well worth it. Children ARE our future, and ALL children deserve the chance to live out their dreams. Let's let them do that!!!
HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY, TRIG!!! I AM POSITIVE THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE TO INSPIRE AND MAKE AMERICA SMILE!!!

Beautiful post. My daughter is five years old and the light of my life. She was also born with Down syndrome. Through her, my life has been expanded into some really beautiful experiences, and I have the privilege of being a part of a very cool club. Moms of kids with Ds are really neat and I made a very pro-life positive video that showcases alot of their children. Please take the time to view it. It is very fun and uplifting all set to the ELO tune from xanadu "I'm Alive."
