David Letterman Is Finding Out That Statutory Rape Is No Joke

Outrage continues over David Letterman's misogynist jokes about Sarah Palin and her 14-year-old daughter Willow. The late-night comedian tried to backpedal with a statement that he mistook Willow for her 18-year-old sister Bristol. No one is buying that - least of all, Sarah Palin. Even if he had been referring to Bristol, the jokes would still have been inappropriate and distasteful.

It is a well-known fact that David Letterman despises Sarah Palin, and this is not his first attack on the Palin family. However, this time he has crossed the line. And his despicable comments may well have unleashed a sleeping giant in the moral conscience of this nation.

Among those who have spoken out against David Letterman’s perverted verbal attack on Sarah Palin’s underage daughter is former running mate John McCain, who
said, "I hope that remarks like that are out of bounds. She is a 14-year-old girl and to be referred to in that fashion is highly inappropriate.” He also told Reuters, "I don't understand why Letterman would say that about a young woman. (The Palins) deserve some kind of protection from being the butt of late-night hosts."

RNC Chairman Michael Steele suggested a boycott of Letterman's television show. In a statement to The Hill, Steele said, "Letterman's joke about Sarah and Todd Palin's daughter was thoughtless and tacky. I saw his explanation for the joke, but sometimes the easiest thing to do is simply say 'I'm sorry.'"

In a letter to CBS CEOLes Moonves, New York State Assemblyman Brian Kolb called for the firing of David Letterman. In a subsequent written statement, Kolb said, “As the proud father of a daughter, and as a husband, I wanted Mr. Moonves to hear from me directly about Mr. Letterman’s disparaging remarks….Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees — even an established media figure like Mr. Letterman — making demeaning and degrading comments about women.”

Michelle Malkin wrote David Letterman a letter of her own and started out with this question, “Will you teach your son to talk about women and girls the way you talk about Sarah Palin and her daughters?”

Greta van Susteren, who was also appalled by Letterman’s remarks,
posted the video of Sarah Palin’s remarks to Matt Bauer on the Today Show on GretaWire. She opened a thread for bloggers to comment on Letterman's remarks and has posted an online poll, where, at last count, 79 % of respondents have recommended firing David Letterman.

Wendy Wright, president of the women’s advocacy group, Concerned Women for America, said this to FOXnews.com: "There's a saying that out of the heart, the mouth speaks, and Letterman's statement reveals a pretty ugly reflection of who Letterman may be.”

In a statement on their website, the National Organization of Women (NRO)
said, “The sexualization of girls and women in the media is reaching new lows these days -- it is exploitative and has a negative effect on how all women and girls are perceived and how they view themselves. Letterman also joked about what he called Palin's "slutty flight attendant look" -- yet another example of how the media love to focus on a woman politician's appearance, especially as it relates to her sexual appeal to men."

Team Sarah is urging its members to contact CBS about the Letterman remarks and has provided a link to the online feedback form for CBS:
http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.php and a link for filing a formal complaint with the FCC: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm.

HillBuzz had this to say: “… if we keep up the pressure on Letterman’s advertisers and succeed in getting three big names like The Olive Garden, MARS Candy, and Kelloggs to drop sponsorhip of the Late Show, that we can seriously decrease the prices CBS is able to charge for advertising on his show, making Letterman much, much less of a cash cow for the network.”

Conservative bloggers across the Internet are blasting David Letterman for his sexual verbal attack on Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter However, most of the liberal media have dismissed Letterman’s crude remarks as “just another joke”

How has the conscience of the radical left been so seared that they condone this type of behavior? Only their hatred and fear of a woman who represents the conservative values that made this nation strong and against which they are rebelling, can explain this attitude.

Apparently, it raises their ire to see a beautiful, successful woman who has worked hard and “walked the walk” achieve what most women only dream of. And beneath it all, I believe, is an anger generated by the awakening of a conscience that has been suppressed in rebellion against the morals and values our forefathers held as they founded a Christian nation.

Several major efforts are underway to demand censure for David Letterman’s unconscionable actions:

1. Media Research Center founder, Brent Bozell, denounced Letterman’s attack during an interview on Fox News. A
