In a Barbara Walters special, "Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People," set to air on December 9th at 10 p.m., Governor Palin discusses considering a run for the presidency. When asked if she felt she could defeat President Obama, the Governor didn't hesitate. Mary Bruce reports:
Sarah Palin says she is seriously considering a run for the White House, and she believes she could beat President Obama in 2012, the former Alaska governor told ABC News' Barbara Walters.
"I'm looking at the lay of the land now, and ... trying to figure that out, if it's a good thing for the country, for the discourse, for my family, if it's a good thing," Palin said in an interview scheduled to air in full Dec. 9 on ABC as part of Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People" of 2010.
Asked Walters: "If you ran for president, could you beat Barack Obama?"
When Barack Obama stepped on the scene, those who believed the hype praised him for his intellect, his IQ, and how his massive brain power was going to lead America somewhere we had never been before. I've yet to see the evidence of this uncommon intelligence he supposedly possesses, but that's what the Kool Aid drinkers told us. On the contrary, Governor Palin was depicted as unread and unintelligent, a lie as large as the state from which she hails. J.D. Gordon of The Washington Times offers this:
While most pundits and late-night comedians place President Obama far ahead of Sarah Palin in terms of intellect, perhaps Public Enemy's best-known hit - "Don't Believe the Hype" - is a fitting tribute to this myth.
Propped up by the mainstream media as the intellectual version of Superman, Mr. Obama with his eloquent, if not robotic, public appearances has fed into the perception that he is one of the most brilliant people in world history - a political Albert Einstein, worthy of the Nobel Prize.
Mrs. Palin meanwhile, has been mercilessly attacked by most in the media and chronically lampooned on late-night TV to the point where some believe she said things that actually were said by comedians.

In fact, given Mr. Obama's track record in comparing his 2008 presidential campaign to the results of his presidency thus far and contrasting it with Mrs. Palin's steadfast leadership of the Tea Party movement, which is changing the political landscape of the country, I would argue that she is actually smarter than Mr. Obama.
First, Mrs. Palin understands that lofty campaign promises don't equate to good governance. Mr. Obama's presidential campaign, centered around "hope and change," has led to runaway spending in a roughly $800 billion stimulus bill, dramatically increased unemployment to roughly 10 percent - twice the rate of George W. Bush's administration - and ushered in Obamacare, which the majority of Americans oppose.
Mr. Obama's No. 1 priority, closing the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, as he mandated within hours of being sworn into office, went nowhere, as did outreach to Iran and now the Taliban fighting our troops in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, unilateral missile-defense cuts and world tours of apologies, complete with bowing to foreign leaders, have made the country less safe.
Given such factors, it should not be surprising that Mr. Obama's approval rating has plummeted from 68 percent at inauguration to a mere 44 percent less than 2 years later. Mrs. Palin campaigned in 2008 for balancing the budget, creating jobs, promoting energy independence and supporting the troops, issues that have remained crucial over the past two years.
Unlike Mr. Obama, Mrs. Palin can relate to Main Street. While the Obama family jetted to Martha's Vineyard, Maine and the Spanish Mediterranean coast last summer alone, the Palins have been connecting with the American public throughout the United States in dozens of speaking venues and other appearances, including "Dancing With the Stars." In a recent California speech, Mrs. Palin pointed to the plight of Central Valley farmers who can't get water for their crops while 37,000 jobs have been lost in the process - all to save a 2-inch fish (the delta smelt) which was rescued through an environmentalist lawsuit. "In Alaska, we call a 2-inch fish bait," she said wryly.
Last but not least, mainstream media and late night-comedy portrayals are deeply flawed when it comes to Mrs. Palin. It is easy to look smart when surrounded by teleprompters like Mr. Obama. In those rare instances when Mr. Obama strays from the script, we end up with comments like "the Cambridge police acted stupidly" that precipitated the infamous White House beer summit with his friend professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. of Harvard and Cambridge, Mass., Police Sgt. James Crowley. In contrast, Mrs. Palin relies heavily on speech notes during her public appearances and often speaks extemporaneously. Her folksy ways and plainspoken language are simply part of her charm and a reflection of her genuine character, not any indication of her intellectual capacity.

Though the mainstream media and comedians can say what they will, Americans will have their say at the ballot box. When voters scratch below the surface of myths that have been constructed carefully around Mr. Obama and Mrs. Palin and compare the myths to the track records over the past two years, they just might reconsider who is smarter.
Last night, after President Obama chose to voice his support of the controversial too-close-to-Ground Zero-mosque during a White House Ramadan dinner, I posted an article. In that piece, I mentioned some questions that need to be asked. I wondered why President Obama wasn't asking the same important questions.
Well, perhaps the President doesn't see that we need answers, but Governor Palin certainly does, which is just another reason she's considered to be a leader among possible presidential contenders. She writes the following in her recent Facebook note called, "Legitimate Questions for the President":
Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

Governor Palin's obvious disappointment (understatement, I'm sure) in the President's "unshakable" support of this slap in the face of the 911 victims' families, New Yorkers, and Americans--the majority of whom do not want the mosque there--is understandable. In fact, I simply cannot comprehend those who do not see why this is the wrong position for the President of the United States to take, why it's the wrong position period.
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Friday forcefully endorsed building a mosque near ground zero, saying the country's founding principles demanded no less.
"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York and the nation.
"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."
This isn't about religious freedom. It's about common decency. It's about the pain of 911 that is still so raw. It's about the fact that the majority of New Yorkers do not want the mosque there. They are not saying people don't have a right to worship. They're saying why there on such sacred ground? This is what Governor Palin was talking about in her Facebook post, "An Intolerable Mistake on Hallowed Ground."
People are also asking other tough questions, like what is the deal with this imam? Where is the money coming from? Why won't he condemn hamas as a terrorist organization? We'd better ask these questions. Our security depends on it. Why isn't our President asking them?
So President Obama, who turned his back on any public celebration of the National Day of Prayer his first year in office, decided to announce his support of the mosque as he celebrates Islamic Holy Month tonight at the White House. Interesting.
I respect the diversity of America, the freedom people have to worship as they see fit. What I have a problem with, however, is the failure of the President of the United States to comprehend how the victims' families, New Yorkers, and each American citizen deserve to be heard, our pain respected, and common decency to prevail. But once again, he appears to be completely disconnected from the people he's been hired to serve. Perhaps he'll reconsider his position as he heads out to yet another vacation.
Well, Governor Palin, you asked.

Governor Palin issues another Facebook note calling out President Obama and his non-plan:
A $3.8 trillion tax increase is coming down the pike, folks. America’s tax cuts which can incentivize small businesses to expand and hire more people (thus fulfilling the mission to grow more private sector jobs), or even just to keep our doors open, will expire in four months. That expiration equates to an increase on your tax bill, starting at midnight, December 31.
I’ll keep calling out President Obama and the Democrats until they tell the American people what the plan is to save the incentives – to not allow the mom and pops’ tax cuts to expire. Granted, liberals (including stubborn “fact-checkers” who claim I’m lying about the soon-to-be tax cut expiration) are trying to clobber me for holding them accountable and prodding them toward revealing their intentions (because they’ve had 18 months to publicly propose a plan to stave off the $3.8 trillion tax increase that will soon slam us, but have revealed no plan). If they have a bill to extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, let’s see it. Time for them to put up or shut up.
But you don’t have to take my word for it. Take the word of the “fact-checkers” at PolitiFact, who, before moving the goal posts in their second dissembling “fact-check” on the Democrats’ tax hikes, wrote in their original “fact-check”:
There are no formal congressional proposals yet to keep the Bush tax cuts in place, so we don’t have precise estimates from official sources like the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Still, there’s a good bit of consensus on what the tax increases would look like, both if lower rates expired only for high earners and also for all incomes.
And there’s a big problem with this argument, which is that “consensus” means nothing without passing a bill, and especially not without proposing one first. Thanks to Democrats in 2001 and 2003, those bills cutting the tax rates have hard-and-fast sunset provisions that create an expiration date absent of any other action. We are now less than four months away from that expiration date after seven years of seeing it coming, after more than 3 years of Democratic control of Congress, and after eighteen months of the Obama administration. Democrats don’t even have a proposal on the table yet, and the legislative calendar is rapidly shrinking to take action before the expiration date hits. Without action, we will see a $3.8 trillion tax hike across the entire spectrum of earners.
So much for “consensus” without action. PolitiFact is curiously stating that in his 2011 budget, the President mentioned some “plan” to do something about not raising taxes on all Americans. Um, don’t know about you, but I don’t find this general, vague promise of some “plan” all that reassuring. The Left also “plans” to do something about our out of control deficits and high unemployment, and the President “planned” for his nearly trillion dollar stimulus to keep unemployment under 8%. We’ve seen how successful that “plan” worked out. The President’s budget “plan” hasn’t worked out so well either. As the economist Bruce Bartlett explained at the time, the President’s budget – including the tax promise – was never much more than a vague statement of intent. Practically speaking, it was dead on arrival. Even Bartlett couldn’t have known how dead, though, because in the end Congress didn’t even succeed in passing a budget, let alone in taking a decision on the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.
Bottom line: until we see a formal proposal – an actual bill before Congress – then get ready for that $3.8 trillion hit.
(By the way, the Left sure gets wee-wee’d up when they’re called on something like this, eh? And here I am, thousands of miles away from DC out on a commercial fishing boat, working my butt off for my own business, merely asking the Democrat politicos and their liberal friends in the media: “What’s the plan, man?”, and they seem to feel threatened by my question. So, I’ll go back to setting my hooks and watching the halibut take the bait, and when I come back into the boat’s cabin in a few hours, I’ll log back on here to read their reply. I’ll have succeeded if they’re forced to finally reveal to Americans how they plan to increase taxes, and what they intend to do with our money. In the meantime, I’m catching fish.)
Another smackdown by Governor Palin via Facebook. While the Left radicals will stop at nothing to paint her as uninformed, Governor Palin continues to show herself to have a better understanding of the economy and the facts than apparently President Obama and the people intent on defending him.
I must admit that what I like best is that she writes that she looks forward to a debate with President Obama where "we'll" take on his fiscal insanity. Personally, I just look forward to her debating him--and 2012 would be soon enough for me!
Yesterday, PolitiFact.com fact-checked my statement about the coming $3.8 trillion Obama tax hike – the largest tax increase in history. They did such a bad job of it, however, that I feel compelled to fact-check the fact-checkers.
First of all, they claim that there are Democrat proposals which would “keep the tax cuts for individuals who make less than $200,000 and couples who make less than $250,000.”
Unfortunately for PolitiFact, no such proposal exists. They admit as much, by the way, when they state that “There are no formal congressional proposals yet to keep the Bush tax cuts in place, so we don’t have precise estimates from official sources like the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.” That doesn’t stop them, though, from claiming I “confuse the issue” by “using numbers that assume all the tax cuts are going away. That is not the Democratic plan nor is it President Obama’s plan.”
Plan? What plan? There is no plan. All we have is smoke and mirrors based on an old Obama campaign pledge that if elected, he would exempt families making less than $250,000 a year from “any form of tax increases.” But this pledge was already watered down before he was even elected. First vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden lowered it to $150,000. Then campaign surrogate Gov. Bill Richardson lowered it even further to $120,000.
A few months after the inauguration, even that last promise disappeared in a puff of smoke. When asked to reaffirm the White House’s commitment to the campaign promise of no tax increases for families earning less than $250,000, Obama’s spin doctor David Axelrod declared the President had “no interest in drawing lines in the sand.”
The truth is that as of today, Democrats haven’t taken any action to extend any part of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for any income group – and in this case doing nothing equals hitting American taxpayers with a massive $3.8 trillion tax increase.
What we do know for certain is that the White House is more than willing to raise taxes on families with incomes of less than $250,000. Democrat Senator Max Baucus admitted as much during the debate about Obamacare when he stated that “One other point that I think it’s very important to make is that it is true that in certain cases, the taxes will go up for some Americans who might be making less than $200,000.”
PolitiFact doesn’t dispute the $3.8 trillion estimate of the cost of repeal of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. It admits that “Palin’s estimate of $3.8 trillion over 10 years is within a reasonable range, if you’re talking about all taxpayers.” And yet somehow it continues to argue that I’m wrong, based on a proposal it admits doesn’t exist which in turn is based on a phantom campaign pledge which Democrats have already broken anyway. I call that a “Pants on Fire” statement.
To prevent PolitiFact from making similar mistakes in future, it would be helpful if the White House and the Democratic Congressional leadership finally mustered the courage to table their plans to let the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts expire. Mr. President, publish your proposals, and we’ll duke it out. You can argue in favor of a multi-trillion dollar tax hike in an age of economic uncertainty and mass unemployment, and we’ll argue for fiscal sanity combined with serious spending cuts. I for one look forward to such a debate.
In the meantime I suggest the St. Petersburg Times hires a few extra staff to fact-check its fact-checkers. It might help it prevent being caught with its “pants on fire” again in the future.
Governor Palin was totally fired up tonight in her response to President Obama's Oval Office speech. As Bill O'Reilly points out in the interview, there is no governor in these United States who has the energy expertise that she has; therefore, hearing from her on this oil spill is simply an exercise in wisdom and common sense.
I can't help but think if there were a President Palin rather than a President Obama, a certain Mexican President Calderon would not ever feel at ease stepping foot on our American soil, standing up on our White House South Lawn, and speaking out in a joint meeting of Congress to insult our laws.
Who is Calderon to come here and give his opinion on how we choose to protect our country? Why in the world would we listen to what he has to say? Perhaps he can work on the issues in his own country, which just might be helpful in our quest to stop illegal immigration in ours.
It is appalling to see members of Congress standing and applauding his rebuke of Arizona's immigration law. Has he even read it? And even if he has, what gives him the right to comment on it?
He felt quite comfortable insulting the American people, the majority of whom are in favor of this Arizona legislation. I chalk that up to the fact that he has seen our own president travel abroad and insult us. It would stand to reason, I suppose, that the next natural progression is for others to come here and do the same. This is the end result of the apology tour President Obama has been on. Hey, if the President of the United States has that type of attitude toward America, why should any other president be expected to behave any differently?
I don't purport to know what she will do, but I dare say a President Palin administration would not likely elicit such arrogant audacity on our land. And if it ever snuck its way in, it would be swiftly denounced. Her love for this nation and belief in protecting her and all her rights, freedoms, and greatness are well-known. Her conviction that the federal government has the responsibility to secure her borders and guard her interests are without question. She would engage in no laughing it up in a desire to make a funny about the danger posed by unsecured borders--or the lives lost. There would be no Spanish-speaking race baiting as was performed by Obama. Instead, with a President Palin there would be an urgency to get to the heart of the problem--and eliminate it.
In fact, it seems to me that a President Palin would do exactly what Concerned Citizen Palin is already doing: making her voice heard and fighting to protect America.
And while these representatives of our country complain about something they haven't taken the time to read, Governor Palin gave some really simple advice to their boss. Via Facebook, without mincing words, as is her modus operandi, she demands, “Mr. President, do your job. Secure our border.” The majority of Americans are asking for the same responsible behavior from our Commander-in-Chief. What will be his response? Will he render up more winking at apologies to China? More applauding of foreign leaders who have been made to feel that insulting and lecturing us on our own turf is laudable? More mocking laughter at the seriousness of the situation?
Governor Palin, unlike President Obama, means business, as she should. National security is no laughing matter. Somebody ought to tell our current president.
Governor Palin leaves no room for a foreign president to come here and insult our right to protect ourselves and uphold our laws. Her respect for the gravity of the situation inspires the same response in others. And again, under a Palin administration, Calderon would know there is no apology for America forthcoming, and no such insults acceptable.
What do last night's poll results tell us? As a conservative blogger, there are three fascinating points that I take away from last night's results:
1) A Sarah Palin Endorsement is Gold: When Sarah endorsed Rand Paul in Kentucky, over the other candidates, many were left speechless. I know several individuals who said Rand Paul essentially had no chance of winning the Republican Primary. Boy, were these individuals wrong. Not only did Rand Paul win last night, but he won big. He managed to capture over 50 percent of the vote and energize a state and country in the process. Is Rand Paul the perfect conservative candidate? No, but I believe there is no such thing as the "perfect candidate." Each and every candidate has his or her own beliefs regarding what classifies them as a Republican or Democrat. It baffles my mind the way in which so many people seem to get their panties in a bunch whenever Sarah does not endorse the candidate of their choice. In the recent weeks, I have seen some very strong, offensive language directed at Sarah by members of her own party. When she endorsed Rand Paul and even Carly Fiorina out here in my home state of California, she did so after strong consideration for what would be best for the people of Kentucky and California. It is fine for individuals to disagree with Sarah's endorsements, but instead of attacking her online and calling her vile names, take your anger to the ballot box. Your vote is the greatest endorsement there is.
I am left wondering one thing: Since when did it become law that Sarah has to please everyone? Having met and talked with her, I KNOW FOR A FACT, Sarah is her own woman and makes her own decisions. She never makes any decision without first researching and doing some soul searching. This is one of the reasons I admire her so much. She makes her own path. With her endorsement of Rand Paul, Sarah proved that she is her own woman and as far from a Washington insider as you can get.
Rand Paul's victory last night overwhelmingly proves that the good people of Kentucky agree with Sarah's judgment. The good people of Kentucky are tired of the politics as usual and just want someone who will go to Washington to work for them, putting their best interests to heart. Thank you, Sarah, for stepping up and for being your independent self. You continue to energize and rejuvenate America!!!
2) The Tea Party Movement Continues to Move Full Steam Ahead: Rand Paul's victory last night can also be heavily attributed to the tea party movement. Don't let the lamestream/mainstream media try to tell you this movement is fading or splitting up the Republican Party. On the contrary, this movement is growing, and if last night is any indication, the movement will continue to grow and have a huge impact on upcoming elections. This is what the media fear. Just as their attacks on Sarah illustrate the fear they have in her, their dismissal of the tea party movement as being a serious movement is another sign of fear. The last thing the media want to happen is for average-day Americans to have a say and let their voices be heard. As soon as this happens, the media know they have lost in selling their president. We all know the msm are in the tank for President Obama, and the more the tea party movement grows and expands, the less of an impact the msm will have in selling false advertising. All I have to say to all of this is: "Rock on, Tea Party Movement! Keep fighting the good fight and taking the commonsense conservative message all the way to Washington DC."
3) If You're a Democrat, Stay Away from an Obama Endorsement: It is crystal clear, from what we saw last night, that an endorsement from Obama is an epic fail. There is only so much glitz and glamour an individual can take before they realize they've been conned. The American people are fed up with what is occurring in Washington. Americans are seeing the wasteful spending that is occurring, and instead of sitting back, they have decided to do something about it. Just like the tea party movement is taking the country by storm, so too is the anti-Obama mood. There isn't too much more to say about this other than to kick the bums out and, in the process, kick the antics of the Obama Administration to the curb. (I'm a Conservative Girl with a Voice!!! As a basketball enthusiast, there's a special appreciation in my heart for Governor Palin's most recent Facebook note. I believe in sports, I've played them all my life, and I know how much work it takes to excel. I played soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball. My favorite, even to this day, is basketball. It's the sport where I've always felt the most at home. For me, it's where creativity flourishes, hard work pays off, and games are won--and I'm all about winning.
As an adult player and coach, I still herald the values of the game. Having coached girls high school varsity basketball for years, I understand how hard girls work--and often without the accolades of their male counterparts. They play for the sheer love of the game most of the time.
My last two regular seasons coaching yielded great rewards for my student-athletes. We set records, beat everybody in our conference and beyond who stepped on the court, and earned both the respect and fear of our opponents. My second to last season, we won our conference championship--the first time in the history of the school, and we did it again the next year.
We didn't get to that point accidentally. Our team was made up of a core group of girls who worked hard for years, our team practiced six days a week, and we made it our goal to be the best conditioned team on the floor. The result? Victory.
And after all that hard work, talent, and passion, I cannot imagine anyone--for some political reason--having told my girls they couldn't go to a tournament, especially when the boycott is based on a twisting of the actual law. Let's leave our warped perspectives out of our kids' sports opportunities. They deserve better than that. I agree with Governor Palin: our girls need to do their job and play ball, and our president needs to do his job and secure the border. If President Obama would just do what he's supposed to do, our girls could do what they worked so hard to do, and they wouldn't be caught up in this political madness.
This has-been ball player/Wasilla Warrior would like to send a shout out of support to the Highland Park High School Giants Girls Basketball Team in Illinois. These girls have been working, having bake sales, and saving money for months in order play in a hoop tournament in Arizona. They’ve won their school’s first conference title in 26 years, but now because a school bureaucrat – an assistant superintendent – wants to play politics, they’re not allowed to play ball.
Keeping girls off the court for political reasons? As I said last night in Illinois: “Them’s fightin’ words.”
The assistant superintendent claims that a trip to Arizona “would not be aligned with our beliefs and values.” But apparently the school has no problem sending kids on trips to China, which has a population control policy that is anti-girl in practice – contributing to female infanticide and abandonment and sex-selective abortions. So, is China – with its many serious human rights violations (too many to list here) – “aligned” with the “values and beliefs” of the school? But our sister-state of Arizona is not? Really? This is ridiculous and totally unfair to the girls who just want to play ball. Going to Arizona to play in a tournament will not endanger them, and the ban sure doesn’t solve the problem of unsecured borders.
These boycotts of Arizona will not help the state or lead to positive change. Economic and political boycotts of our nation’s 48th state will hurt all Arizonans – including all members of the Hispanic community. If people really want to help, they should tell President Obama to do his job: secure the border. If he were to do his job, the good people of Arizona, who have been overwhelmed by violence on their border, would not feel compelled to do it for him.

We can count on some basic things in this life: you know, rain showers in April, the New York Knicks losing basketball games, and...Liberals playing the race card. Some things never change. True to form, it's April and we've been getting quite a bit of rain. It's NBA playoff time and the Knicks are already on vacation. And it's another day--any day--and Liberals are using race to advance their agenda.
Yes, it is common for the Left to create, capitalize off of, and then feign concern over issues of race. So nothing has changed there. But I have to admit that it threw me to see our so-called post-racial president so comfortable playing that card for all the world to see. Just pulled it out and threw it on the table--no big deal, right?

If you're like me, when you first heard this, you stopped in your tracks, wondering if President Obama had actually said what you thought he said. I was preparing for work with "Fox and Friends" on in the background. I couldn't believe Obama so bluntly stated that in order to win in November of 2010,
"It will be up to each of you to make sure that the young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again."
So the Democrats' November game plan is to gather certain groups and get them to the polls, for once there, you can expect them to vote your way; after all, that's what they do.
His comments, indicative of his hubris and the Left's political slave master mentality, reveal Democrats' long-standing belief that certain people will vote for certain other people no matter what--no matter the issues, no matter his record. So his rally cry is simple. In part, it is: "Calling all Blacks! Calling all Latinos! Let's unite!"
Now, lest you be tempted to think that's okay, just flip the president's script for a moment. Can you imagine the outrage if Governor Palin had penned on Facebook, "It will be up to each of you to make sure that white people stand together once again"? Can you imagine what would happen if any Conservative made such a comment? A Conservative cannot even peacefully demonstrate against President Obama's policies or target certain Democrats who need to be ousted without being accused of racism and inciting violence. Governor Palin wrote:
We’re paying particular attention to those House members who voted in favor of Obamacare and represent districts that Senator John McCain and I carried during the 2008 election.
All hell broke loose after that Facebook note as the Left went into selective outrage and stupidity mode. But the president can target certain groups that he expects to line up, be counted, and do his bidding.
How are his comments acceptable?
They're not. They're offensive. His tactics are not new for the Left, but they certainly are beneath the office of the president, who was elected to be the leader of all Americans, not just the pockets of people he feels he has in his back pockets.
Furthermore, as one of those Black Americans, I am insulted at the thought that anyone would expect me to take my place and do as I have done. The president ought to be familiar with the phrase, "You're gonna have to come correct"--and he's going to have to do just that if he wants to retain those seats come November.
Now, I'm just a teacher from the state of New York, but I have a novel idea for President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the rest of those puppet masters in Washington. How about you offer all American people something to vote for? How about you embrace policies that will not put our children and their children in debt before they take their first breath? After all, perhaps more than all others, we "African-Americans and Latinos" are further hampered when we enter the world with that type of burden already upon our shoulders, and since you're so familiar with race, you should be well-aware of that.
I have another idea. How about you stop supporting the massacre of our children in the womb and calling it choice? Abortion is wiping out the Black and Latino populations more than any other. But of course, sir, you would know that, as you are a staunch advocate of Planned Parenthood, which purposely sets up shop in these communities. Margaret Sanger would be proud. That was her plan. How about that, Mr. President?
As an educator, Mr. Obama, I ask you to figure out a way to improve the educational success of the people you want to come out in droves for you in November. You can start in D.C. Then make your way to New York. Come to my school district, sir, where they will be cutting almost 50 jobs at the end of this school year. And we know the impact that will have on all, particularly the children of those "African-Americans and Latinos" you want to do you some favors at the poll. How about that?
One last idea. President Obama, how about you surround yourself with people who will stop telling these same groups of people that we're victims, and will start telling us the truth--that we can be victors not over-reliant on "the man"--you know, the government?
Yes, I'm outraged at the president's audacity of arrogance as he sits in front of his video camera and rallies the troops by pushing his same politics-as-usual nonsense that is detrimental to the very groups of people he's singling out and duping into submission. Give people something to work with, President, and maybe you won't have to resort to the same old, same old race games, because more and more of us are not moved by your race. We want results. So come correct or don't come at all.
Now, let's contrast President Obama's approach with that of Governor Palin. When she rallies Americans to remain encouraged and focus on November, she addresses all Americans. We all have a stake in the elections, as we all have been affected by the policies of the current administration.
This is just the beginning of our efforts to take back our country. Consider yesterday’s vote a clarion call and a spur to action. We will not let America sink into further debt without a fight. We will not abandon the American dream to government dependency, fewer freedoms and less opportunity. Change is made at the ballot box. If we work together, we can renew our optimistic pioneering spirit, revive our economy, and restore constitutional limits.
Stand tall, America. November is coming!
Governor Palin asks for all to take a stand by voting in November to undo some of this promised change the president is unfortunately delivering. She neither exempted nor exploited Blacks, Latinos, or even women. She spoke to people as people who care about their country.
While I'm sure that there are people who are inspired by Governor Palin because they relate to her as a woman, a wife, and mother, who find delight in perhaps casting their vote for one who may be the first female President of the United States, these same people often voice a desire to join with other Americans from all walks of life to move forward toward common sense solutions. She calls on them for that reason alone; they are Americans. And while I do find wisdom in reaching out to articulate our message to different communities, I do believe in coming correct to those people. And coming correct is not being presumptuous that you've got my vote in the bag. Coming correct is coming with a message of real hope and change, which is a message of uniting with all so that together we can move forward and better understand how each of us benefits from these solutions. Thus my support of Governor Palin; she comes correct.
In mid-March, before the vote that passed this government takeover of healthcare, Governor Palin wrote:
We know we’ll beat them at the ballot box, but we have to kill this bill before November. This is the final push. We must stand up and stand together one last time to insist on true market-oriented, patient-centered health care reform that reflects America’s values and the will of the people.
As I read these comments, I once again see a citizen leader who understands the necessity of all Americans to go to the ballot. While the president is asking certain groups to "stand together once again," to ride the wave of 2008, which is proving to be a washout to any one paying even a little attention, Governor Palin understands that we all have a stake in the direction of the country; therefore we all must "stand together."
Futhermore, the day after Scott Brown was elected in the Massachusetts' special election, Governor Palin wrote:
The special election yesterday in Massachusetts was truly amazing. It is a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work. The commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility are on the rise, and that's why I'm going out and campaigning as hard as I can to make a difference. I can't wait to join all of you in supporting these great candidates and many more over the coming months.
Governor Palin's message in that note was clear: every one of us will benefit from the wave of common sense conservatism. Every person matters. Notice the words she consistently uses: "we all," "stand together," "all of you."
Governor Palin's focus is preserving America's values, her work ethic, and her future. She has set her gaze on 2010 and the support of candidates who will progress this nation. We're all in this. She doesn't take for granted that she owns certain groups of people, and she doesn't exclude anyone. She appeals to Americans--period--which is exactly the way conservatives and Tea Party activists always conduct themselves.
People like Governor Palin and Tea Partiers, who have never separated people into categories based on race, are accused of masking their prejudice by using coded language for "white America." Nonsense. Meanwhile, the President of the United States can come right out and say people need to basically bus Blacks and Latinos to the polls. Somehow that game plan is okay to Liberal loons because...well, that's what far Left Liberal racebaiters do. But Conservatives have a race problem?
Excuse the pun, but if that's not the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is.
Tomorrow will bring a health care bill vote, and Nancy Pelosi continues to show her true pro-abortion colors. She continues to reveal that she has no interest in the will of the people who have overwhelmingly indicated that we do not want government between us and our doctors. Today she rejected the Stupak abortion solution. Pelosi has no respect for pro-life anybody--not the unborn, not the American people, and not even the colleagues in her own party.
And we already know where President Obama stands on the issue of life. He believes the "when does life begin?" question is "above [his] pay grade." He didn't even vote to provide health care to babies born alive after a botched abortion. Sick! If he can't do right by a defenseless newborn, what in the world do you expect he'll do with you?
These are the people we want in charge of our health care?! God, help us.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Saturday rejected an offer to hold a separate vote on abortion provisions in the sweeping health-care legislation, setting the stage for the final talks with the last Democratic holdouts.
Pelosi told reporters that she rejected the solution offered by Rep. Bart Stupak (Mich.), the leading antiabortion Democrat who proposed passing separate, strict language that would clarify that no federal funds in the proposed legislation could go toward abortion coverage.
Asked if a vote was coming, Pelosi declared no extra votes would be held to appease antiabortion Democrats or liberals still hopeful for adding their favored causes. "Not on abortion, not on public option, not on single payer, not on anything," Pelosi said. She later added, "The bill is the bill."
Democrats are close to securing the 216 votes needed for a majority when the vote is held Sunday evening, but the last bloc of holdouts are antiabortion Democrats.
Governor Palin has been fighting on behalf of the American people, imploring us to get involved and do everything we can to stop a government takeover of health care.

Your vote isn't the only one that counts. November is coming and you can't hide from the voters. Corrupt backroom deals are driving a government takeover of our health care, and I don't like it. If you vote YES on the health care bill, I will vote NO on you in the next election.
Why is the President of the United States suddenly getting publicly involved in Alaska politics? It seems curious and timely that all of the sudden Obama decides to make a complete 180 degree turnaround and is so very interested in becoming directly involved in the same Alaskan Pipeline project that Sarah Palin has for years has been working on and had finally secured funding for.
President Obama has just announced he is getting the White House to oversee the Alaska Pipeline project and is sending an envoy to Alaska to work with and oversee the project with the state legislators. So now, we have the White House controlling state business. And that's really funny because Governor Sarah Palin had already secured this project already along with then Lt.Governor Sean Parnell. Do you think the President wants to take over the project and take the credit away from Sarah Palin? Perhaps he has an interest in hurting Sarah Palin by destroying her project altogether and preventing it from going through? Maybe he is so angry at her that he is using the White House to get back at her? Does he want to hurt Sean Parnell's chances of re-election? Could the President be abusing the privilege of his executive power? Hmm? I don't know, but if he is, then this is a scandal. I'll just call it "Pipelinegate".
There are two reasons for this, I think.
Alaska Governor Sean Parnell, who took over Sarah Palin's job last year is up for re-election. He is way ahead in all the polls to get the Republican nomination. The general election will be held in November. Parnell has been working very hard on the Alaska Pipeline project along with Sarah Palin when she was governor, and the project has been on track to receive the funding it needed from Alaskan legislators (at least up until this week when it was announced the President is taking over). http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2010/03/alaska-rep-mike-hawker-still-opposing.html
But why would the President use his executive power to hurt Sarah Palin? Could she be a possible threat to his re-election campaign in 2012? Could it be that he is a little bit angry that she is running around the country going to bat for conservatives to unseat legislators in Washington who are not doing their job, mostly Democrats? Sarah is a patriot and she is doing it for her country so it can get back on the right track. If conservatives (mostly Republicans) win the elections, then the Republicans might have enough seats in the House and Senate to take over a majority and gain control of Congress. If this happens, the President will be in a weaker position than he is today. Do you think he is angry about that? Or maybe he is angry because Sarah Palin saw some major flaws in his healthcare legislation which he desperately wants to pass, and she gave the public the heads up?
Gosh! Is it really worth it Mr. President to scandalize yourself and abuse your White House privileges because of your anger? This could hurt your chances in 2012 for re-election. Why do you take the chance? Have you already decided you will not run for a second term?
This is only the beginning, folks. I think "Pipelinegate" will become huge and the President will be caught in an even bigger scandal than Nixon was a part of. He is using his power of the executive office to hurt the other side politically. He is manipulating Alaska's state business for revenge instead of doing his job as Commander-in-Chief leading our country into prosperity and peace at a time in which our country needs a leader.

As the entire nation knows, Governor Palin has been a voice for energy independence for years. She has worked relentlessly to see a natural gas pipeline built that would flow resources from Alaska to the Lower 48.
After all of the governor's hard work and unprecedented success in moving forward in this effort that would not only provide jobs and boost the economy, but would aid in national security--freeing America to rely on the resources God has given us, rather than foreign regimes that don't like us--it seems President Obama has suddenly become interested in energy.
The president wants to take this effort to tap into Alaska's resources to the next level, making it a White House executive office matter.
According to Juneau Empire, Mark Begich, the Democrat senator from Alaska, has "nominated legislative aide Larry Persily for the Obama appointment as federal coordinator. Persily has support from Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, as well."
This begs the question: Has President Obama suddenly seen the light--or is he trying to snuff it out?
Unfortunately, I believe you’d be wrong, and I believe my colleague is, as well. I don’t think Obama is trying to steal credit for this deal, I think he is trying to kill it.
Frankly, when has Obama done anything to support energy development in America? On the contrary, Obama and his minions have openly worked to thwart any and all domestic development of natural resources.
So what’s the deal?
First of all, let’s face it, that’s how these Chicago thugs work, period. We see it every single day. They strong arm and attack their own people if the don’t tow the line. Ask New York Governor David Patterson how Obama’s gangster tactics work.

I am sure I don't have to preach to you about the hypocrisy of the left. You see and hear it everywhere, right? In this age of Obama, it seems as if everyone is open to criticism EXCEPT the Democrats. In today's random thought post, I wanted to write about a recent episode of hypocrisy from the liberal left. It is no secret the Democrats are attempting to push through a heath care bill that, if passed, would be disastrous to America and everything she stands for. I am all for health care reform, and I believe there are many aspects that need to be fixed, but putting our health solely into the hands of the government is NOT the answer.
Just this past weekend, President Obama underwent his first physical since becoming commander in chief. While his doctor informed the public that Mr. Obama is in good health and "fit for duty," I found some of the doctor's findings interesting. Mr. Obama and his wife repeatedly push the need for "preventative care." While Mr. Obama and his wife push for this, Americans learned this weekend that our president had not had a physical since 2007- three years ago. As a strict constitutionalist, I believe people should be left alone as much as possible, but I also believe it is fair to call someone out when the person preaches the need to take a certain action, but fails to perform the action himself. President Obama: "Isn't the whole idea of this preventative care notion that you talk about mean that you need to see a doctor regularly? I'm just saying..." Usually, I do not care about when a president last went to the doctor if he is doing his job adequately. Although I feel this way, I do believe I have a right as an American to call out an individual who seems intent the wanting the government to run our lives for us. So, Mr. President, shouldn't you take some advice from Sarah Palin. She has no problem talking the talk and walking the walk. Maybe it's time you do the same. Remember during the campaign when the media repeatedly called for Sarah to release her health records? Brian Williams even asked Sarah about it during an interview. This same media that felt privy to call Sarah out now sits silent, but what else do you expect from a media that gets tingles up their legs and hot flashes on a regular basis.
Then, again, this is the Obama Administration we are talking about. An administration that sees itself as standing tall above all of us mere mortals. The hypocrisy of this situation doesn't end here. Michelle Obama's mission to end childhood obesity seems like a saintly cause, but once again illustrates the administration's attempt to control Americans. I believe Sarah said it best when she recently wrote that the administration could save a lot of money if it would just let parents BE parents. It is none of government's business what we feed our children. Parents know best what is good for their children. Sane individuals know best how to effectively live their lives. When the government intervenes and comes in between parents and children, this is crossing the line and opening the door to more government control. Once the government crosses the threshold of the home, where is the line drawn?
Throughout the entire 2008 Presidential Campaign, liberals pundits and members of the so-called media elite repeatedly questioned John McCain's health and Sarah's readiness should McCain win and become president, but get ill or die during his presidency. While they looked at McCain's age as a factor, it was his history of skin cancer that drew the most red flags from liberals. I still remember all of the ridiculous reports that I heard and read time and time again. There was no doubt that John McCain had the drive, enthusiasm and health do an adequate job as president. I have to wonder where these same pundits were this past weekend. While President Obama has not yet reached the age of 50 and is in good health, his cholesterol is high, and he continues to struggle with smoking. You all know that had this been President Bush's health report, the media and left would be jumping frantically up and down, voicing their concerns, but not with Mr. Obama. FOX News Channel did air a story and a live report about Obama's physical, but MSNBC did not even air so much as a mention of it. Forgetfulness or an error in judgment? I'll let you decide.
I really don't care if my president's cholesterol is a tad-bit high and he smokes because, frankly, it is none of my business, but it is unfortunate that the left does not see it this way. I applaud Sarah and individuals like her for calling out the democrats and their epic fail of a health care bill. It does not take a rocket scientist to tell us that we should eat healthy and exercise. Before the government attempts to come into our homes and tell us how we should live our lives, I suggest they stop and look at their own lives and lifestyle habits because the last thing Americans need is someone telling them to quit doing something they themselves continue to do. Americans deserve better.
Question: Do we have a White House administration, or do we have a kindergarten class? Robert Gibbs, the president's press secretary, found it necessary to mock Sarah Palin, a private citizen? This is so pathetic that even people who support the Obama administation have stated that such behavior is unacceptable and not becoming of the president's staff. Major Garrett summed it up when he said the Obama White House continues to be obsessed with Governor Palin. I am absolutely appalled by Robert Gibbs' writing his "grocery list" on his hand.
The sad thing for them is they've missed something they need to catch. Governor Palin jotted down a few words--something no one who has ever had to speak in front of a crowd should find strange. President Obama, on the other hand (excuse the pun), relied on a teleprompter for a word-for-word script of a speech to a group of elementary school children. Governor Palin made note of some points she wanted to be sure to highlight. President Obama once repeated what he already said at the beginning of a speech when he lost his way with his teleprompter--and it took him some time to realize he was restating his opening acknowledgements.
“In addition to John – sorry, the – I just noticed I jumped the gun here,” Obama said. He then paused for a couple of minutes, looking at the telemprompter. “Go ahead. Move it up. I had already introduced all you guys.”
Does the Obama administration really want to get into this kind of battle with Governor Palin? Let me give them a piece of advice from a famous Rocky IV line: "You can't win!"
By the way, instead of making fun of the fact that Governor Palin wrote the word "budget" on her hand and then crossed it out, Robert Gibbs should have written "uh" on his hand and then crossed that out, reminding himself not to say it! He racked up the "uhs" even while reading his palm! Even with notes on his hand, he is as painful to listen to as President Obama is without his teleprompter.
If I were the president or his staff, I would stay away from trying to mock Palin. It only makes them look like they sit around watching tape of her, like coaches studying the plays of a rival coach. And frankly, mocking a private citizen really is beneath the highest office in the land.
In an article for Real Clear Politics, Tom Bevan points out something that seems to have gone unnoticed by most. He calls it "Obama's Stunning Admission."
Bevan quotes the president during his appearance at the House Republican retreat:
The last thing I will say, though -- let me say this about health care and the health care debate, because I think it also bears on a whole lot of other issues. If you look at the package that we've presented -- and there's some stray cats and dogs that got in there that we were eliminating, we were in the process of eliminating. For example, we said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people if you can have your -- if you want to keep the health insurance you got, you can keep it, that you're not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge. [emphasis added]
Well, isn't that interesting? Beval distills this for us to mean:
If we take this statement at face value, President Obama is admitting the the health care bills passed by either the House or Senate (or both) contained provisions which were "snuck in" - presumably by Democratic members and perhaps on behalf of certain lobbyists - that would have in fact prevented people from keeping their current insurance and/or choosing the doctor they want.
All this time later, after calling Republicans out--after calling Governor Palin out--is President Obama quietly admitting that those who were calling him out were right all along?
In her Facebook note, "Troubling Questions Remain About Obama's Health Care Plan," Governor Palin wrote:
The president is busy assuring us that we can keep our private insurance plans, but common sense (and basic economics) tells us otherwise.
In Governor Palin's "Response to the White House," she stated:
I'm pleased that the White House is finally responding to Republican health care ideas instead of pretending they don't exist.[1] But in doing so President Obama should follow his own sound advice and avoid making "wild misrepresentations".[2] Medicare vouchers would give everyone on Medicare the chance to decide for themselves which health plan to use, rather than leave that decision to government bureaucrats. Such proposals are the kind of health care reform that Republicans stand for: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven.
You'll recall that Speaker Nancy Pelosi argued in September:
Health insurance reform opponents continue to spread myths about components of America’s Affordable Health Choices Act. Their efforts to scare seniors have spared no myth, no method and no misrepresentation. It has gotten so bad, the Chicago Tribune’s The Swamp blog wrote, “In political circles, there is a term for the tactic” Republicans are using to frighten seniors about the effects of health insurance reform: "Medi-scare.'' According to The Swamp, Republicans are “capitalizing on fears that Medicare will be undermined… and that the government will force ‘end-of-life' decisions… It's one rhetorical stop short of warning of the "death panels'' that Republican Sarah Palin has spoken of....''

Myth: Health care reform is a government takeover.
Fact: Under this bill, there is no government takeover of health care. Every American will still be able to choose your own doctor and health insurance plan— and make care decisions with that doctor. The House bill builds on the current system of private health insurance. Indeed, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, private insurance coverage will expand by 16 million under the House reform bill. CBO projects that only a total of about 11 million – or 3 percent of Americans – would choose to enroll in a newly-formed public health insurance plan.
So it wasn't a myth after all, Speaker?
You'll also recall Pelosi rushing through the House a late-night health care vote, to which the governor wrote:
Despite Americans’ decisive message last Tuesday that they reject the troubling path this country has been taking, Speaker Pelosi has broken her own promises of transparency to ram a health “care” bill through the House of Representatives just before midnight. Why did she push the 2,000 page bill this weekend? Was she perhaps afraid to give her peers and the constituents for whom she works the chance to actually read this monstrous bill carefully, if at all? Was she concerned that Americans might really digest the details of a bill that the Wall Street Journal has called “the worst piece of post-New Deal legislation ever introduced”?
This out-of-control bureaucratic mess will be disastrous for our economy, our small businesses, and our personal liberty. It will slam businesses at a time when we are at double-digit unemployment rates – the highest we’ve seen in a quarter of a century. This massive new bureaucracy will cost us and our children money we don’t have. It will rob Americans of more of our freedom and further hamper the free market.
Make no mistake: we’re on course to have government commandeer one-sixth of our economy. The people who gave us Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac now want to run our health care. Think about that.
So after all the warnings Governor Palin gave, and all the denying, name-calling, and arrogance of the Obama administration, President Obama makes the stunning admission that they had, in fact, "snuck in" some of the same things they so passionately refuted?
As a sports' fanatic and former athlete myself, I always turn to sports analogies when I want to get an important point across. Last night, Sarah came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth and knocked in the winning run. Just as fans would, no doubt, uncontrollably cheer at the star player who knocked in the winning run, so too did Americans across the country. SARAH IS BACK!!! As my regular readers know, I studied journalism in college and have repeatedly written and spoken out regarding my disappointment in the media's reporting. Although the majority of the media are in-the-dunk-tank for President Obama and his administration, there are honest forms of media out there that are reporting the truth in an an objective, fair manner. One such news source is the Fox News Channel. I couldn't be more thrilled and excited with the addition of Sarah Palin to this network. With her, Sarah not only brings vast political knowledge, but the experience of being a journalist. Last night, Sarah wowed the world and undoubtedly shut up a few critics too. Not only did Bill O'Reilly treat her fairly, as he is known to be fair to his guests and commentators, but he seemed to really appreciate her insight.
While I am so excited for Sarah to be back in the the forefront, speaking out on important issues and giving her much-needed political, common-sense advice, there are some skeptics out there- you know it, and I know it. I don't have to tell you about the liberal pundits, I'm talking about individuals who adore Sarah and support her, but are weary of her latest decision. I want to address those individuals. Remember, what Sarah's dad said directly following the election? He said "Let Sarah be Sarah." This is exactly what she is doing now. Sarah is no longer tied up and being given specific talking points to discuss. Last night, we saw Sarah, the real Sarah. Gone was the Sarah whom the McCain camp attempted to change. Gone was the Sarah who was unable to speak out on issues she really cared about. Last night, we saw the Sarah Alaska has come to know and love. Not only did Sarah know the issues, but she spoke with a common sense tone. This is a woman who knows the media firsthand. This is a woman who knows how to use certain aspects of the media to get her message out there. This is a woman who can write a Facebook note, hit the "post" button, and her message is immediately out there for the world to see. Now, she has an even bigger platform in which to speak. As a regular contributor to FNC, she will not only widen her base, but has the platform to stand up and speak out. No wonder the liberal left is so baffled and upset by her decision to join the FNC team.
No one knows Sarah better than Sarah herself, and we need to trust her most recent decision. We all know how successful she has been in the decisions she has made in the past. While many individuals are fearful that her taking on this job with the FNC may mean she doesn't plan on running for president, I see her taking on this job as an important step in a favorable direction to a presidential run. Americans will now be able to get to know the Sarah we already know. This will not only widen her base, but allow moderates and independents to see just how amazing an individual she is. Perhaps my favorite reason for why I am so excited by Sarah's decision is because it has already caused the liberal left's heads to spin, and I couldn't be more thrilled. The liberal left could not escape her when she turned to Twitter, and then Facebook. If their heads were ready to explode then, I can't wait to see what happens with them now. There is no doubt in my mind that their attacks against her will increase, but something tells me, Sarah already knows this and is prepared and ready, just as she was last night. Sarah's latest decision not only illustrates her political savvy, but the continued successful political future I'm sure she will no doubt have. I hate a fly. Yes, hate is a strong word...my dad said so. But truly, I do. I hate a fly.
That fact was reiterated to me as I was reading Dickens this week. I know now that my dislike for a fly is not just due to the fact that they aggravate me. It's deeper. They are stupid.
Charles Dickens in A Tale of Two Cities sets up a scene in the wine-shop as so...
There were a few customers, drinking or not drinking, standing or seated, sprinkled about. The day was very hot, and heaps of flies, who were extending their inquisitive and adventurous perquisitions into all the glutinous little glasses near madame, fell dead at the bottom. Their decease made no impression on the other flies out promenading, who looked at them in the coolest manner (as if they themselves were elephants, or something as far removed), until they met the same fate. Curious to consider how heedless flies are!
Yeppers. I surmise the heedless flies that are currently in office do not see their impending fate in 2010. They only remember that President Obama can swat them and brag about it as he did during his famous fly killah interview. Keep him happy by circling the Hill and landing on all carrion placed before them, and everything will be fine. Veer off course by rejecting the offerings and be called into the Flight Controller's office for a flight plan adjustment.
I perceive they are told to ignore the other flies that just met their doom this past November.
Are our elected officials so very sure they can continue to promenade in defiance of the majority of Americans with no recourse in view? Do they truly see a bright future ahead for them? As they are lured into the spider's web of presidential deceit, is there a chance, a very minute chance, they feel any fear?
Gov. Sarah Palin, in a recent SarahPAC missive, stated:
"After all our travels, it's even more obvious to me that the winds of change are blowing strong. At every stop people talked about the need to take our country back. So let's do it! 2010 is just around the corner and with it will come one of the most critical elections of our lifetime. With important House and Senate races across our nation and dozens of gubernatorial races we have the chance to make a positive difference throughout our country."
Drink up, flies, to your hearts' content, but just as the maggots you derived from, you will once again be bottom dwellers...this time in the dregs of the wine glass you once embraced, in a drunken stupor, as life giving.
As we revved our engines up for the busy workweek today, I hope you returned back to work refreshed and relaxed from the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving is a great time to just sit back, reflect and give thanks for everything we hold dear as Americans. I am so thankful for the freedom I have as an American. I am so proud of our brave military men and women who risk their lives for each and every one of us day in and day out. As an American, I want my military men and women to be given the best. While I believe we should listen to General McChrystal and those in charge on ground, it seems our president is not ready to do so. President Obama is going to address this very issue of troop numbers tomorrow in an address to Americans.
General McChrystal has repeatedly said an additional 40,000 troops would be needed in order to succeed in Afghanistan, so why has it been so hard for our president to make what should be an easy, necessary decision? Send the troops, Mr. President. Yet, in an all-too-common occurrence with this administration, our president is once again back peddling. And now when he is finally ready to make a decision, he is going to compromise on the number of brave men and women to send to Afghanistan? Give me a break. This is not only outrageous, but deeply disturbing. We are not talking about compromising on the number of side dishes to prepare for Christmas dinner; instead, we are talking about the lives of our Military men and women. Obama is expected to announce, tomorrow, that 30,000 additional troops will go to Afghanistan. This is an important number because this number is 10,000 less than General Stanley McChrystal originally requested weeks ago (McChrystal requested 40,000). I am outraged that President Obama is choosing to compromise when we are talking about the lives of so many. While this is very upsetting, it is also unfortunate that Obama is not sending the entire 30,000 troops right away. Instead, he is expected to send 9,000 Marines to southern Afghanistan first with others to eventually follow. I fully agree with why senators like Jon Kyl of Arizona are so worried about this. According to Fox News:
"The speed of deployment worries Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., who said Sunday that a phased deployment will not force rapid change as the surge in Iraq did and will create more problems, as Vietnam demonstrated: "You need to put in everybody you can as quickly as you can and deliver a knockout punch to the enemy," Kyl told "Fox News Sunday."
Kyl is right in his assessment. The surge was successful, so why wouldn't we repeat this action again? Obama is playing with fire if he really thinks compromising will bring us victory in Afghanistan. I have to wonder if Obama knows the full implications of the decision he is about to make. I have to wonder if Obama really wants to win the war in Afghanistan. I never thought I would have these of fears, but I seem to have cause to be alarmed.
I know I am not alone in my reasoning, for I know many of you agree with me. Sarah Palin is also speaking out on President Obama's scheduled announcement regarding Afghanistan troop levels. As a former governor, Sarah knows what it's like to oversee our troops. While she was governor, she was the commander-in-chief of Alaska's National Guard. Sarah also knows firsthand what the families of our awesome men and women in uniform go through every time they have to say goodbye to a family member. As you all know, Sarah's oldest child, Track, serves in the Army. President Obama may be ready to compromise the lives of our brave men and women in an attempt to appease to his liberal base, which by the way, I guarantee would be upset if even one troop member was sent off to war, but Sarah knows better. She knows the generals on the ground know what's best. Why can't Obama listen to his generals and Sarah for once? Until our president and his administration begin to listen to those who know best, he is walking a very fine line. For goodness sake, this is an important decision that will either result in success or failure. Our troops deserve better. I stand with Sarah as she stands solidly beside our good men and women in uniform. Thank you, Sarah, for speaking out on this very important issue and always supporting our troops and putting them first, and thank you to our brave men and women in uniform for their tireless service to our country.

As Thanksgiving festivities wind down we contemplate all we have to be thankful for as free Americans! We head into the Christmas season wishing for leadership in Washington that reflects our commitment to the values and ideals that have built the freest and most prosperous and generous nation on earth.
Heading into December and Tuesday's announcement of our nation's strategy in Afghanistan, I ask the President to reassure us that the administration is in this War on Terror to win.
And I'll pass along the following from Harold B. Estes, a 95-year-old member of the Greatest Generation: "I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out."
Thank you, Mr. President. Please tell us on Tuesday that America is in it to win.
