The day after former VP candidate Sarah Palin encouraged her Facebook friends to “print pink slips” for members of Congress who voted for President Obama’s “disasterous” healthcare package, including 5th District Representative Tom Perriello, Politico reports that the FBI is investigating a cut gas line at the Charlottesville home of Perriello’s brother—who is married and has two small children—which County spokesperson Lee Catlin is calling a “suspicious incident.”

Hmmm, I thought, I suppose they are trying to somehow make a connection...a very loose connection...sort of like the one the plumber made under my sink which led to a flooded kitchen floor last week. Ah well, I figured, what's one dumb author?

Unfortunately, the unfounded connection didn't end there. Later today I found out the Anchorage Daily News had published an article entitled "Palin's firearms-themed rhetoric called dangerous". Well, again, I thought, they've never been a cheerleader for her, even though she's provided them more income in the last few years than they would have ever had alone, so what would one expect?

Most likely, you can tell where I'm headed with this story. The search engines easily bring up the insane and completely baseless logic that Gov. Palin is making a literal call to arms, effectively ordering the heads of Democrats be brought to her on a platter. In a desperate attempt to draw the attention away from the health care fiasco that even the president's own party is just now discovering the entrails of, the media and their "bring down Palin at all costs" blogger buddies have launched a Can You Believe She Ordered Democrats Killed? campaign.

Let me remind you these are the same people that went bonkers when that nutjob started shooting up the Pentagon last month. "He was a right wing extremist and 9-11 truther!" they published everywhere. Not surprisingly, they shut up real quick when it came out the guy was a long time registered Democrat. Whoops.

The ADN had one thing right in their article title though..."firearms-themed." Yes, her words and chart had a theme as such to them...she is after all an avid hunter and gun owner advocate. Be aware though that Gov. Palin isn't the only politician or author to ever use such terms. Here's a few, just from a quick Google search, emphasis mine. You could get the idea from them that the Dems are just targeting and bombing away! And if you search the key phrase "Democrats take aim", you will get a looooong list.

Even after those examples, some critics will point to the rumored threats that were hurled at House reps this past weekend as proof that we on the right are violent. I've seen no proof of those threats, but I will tell you that the violence that was done to the American people and our Constitution during this past week has been life threatening in more ways than one. People are mad to say the least. For Democrat lawmakers to feign ignorance and not understand that point is pure malarky.
 

But let ME be clear...to accuse Gov. Sarah Palin of purposely encouraging and inciting physical trauma toward those spineless Democrats responsible for the health care fiasco is extreme, slanderous, and without merit.

No more than the Democrats as a whole are at fault for the Pentagon shooter or the whackos that threw eggs and tomatoes in Gov. Palin's direction during her book tour or the Black Panthers that in 2008 stood outside the PA polling place with a nightstick, than is Gov. Palin at fault for those that do illegal acts of cutting gas lines or throwing bricks.

Stop making things up, media and left wing bloggers. Pictured below are the real people you should be concerned about...worry about them. Stop them. Prevent them from hurting America.

Hypocrisy in America! A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

I am sure I don't have to preach to you about the hypocrisy of the left. You see and hear it everywhere, right? In this age of Obama, it seems as if everyone is open to criticism EXCEPT the Democrats. In today's random thought post, I wanted to write about a recent episode of hypocrisy from the liberal left. It is no secret the Democrats are attempting to push through a heath care bill that, if passed, would be disastrous to America and everything she stands for. I am all for health care reform, and I believe there are many aspects that need to be fixed, but putting our health solely into the hands of the government is NOT the answer.

Just this past weekend, President Obama underwent his first physical since becoming commander in chief. While his doctor informed the public that Mr. Obama is in good health and "fit for duty," I found some of the doctor's findings interesting. Mr. Obama and his wife repeatedly push the need for "preventative care." While Mr. Obama and his wife push for this, Americans learned this weekend that our president had not had a physical since 2007- three years ago. As a strict constitutionalist, I believe people should be left alone as much as possible, but I also believe it is fair to call someone out when the person preaches the need to take a certain action, but fails to perform the action himself. President Obama: "Isn't the whole idea of this preventative care notion that you talk about mean that you need to see a doctor regularly? I'm just saying..." Usually, I do not care about when a president last went to the doctor if he is doing his job adequately. Although I feel this way, I do believe I have a right as an American to call out an individual who seems intent the wanting the government to run our lives for us. So, Mr. President, shouldn't you take some advice from Sarah Palin. She has no problem talking the talk and walking the walk. Maybe it's time you do the same. Remember during the campaign when the media repeatedly called for Sarah to release her health records? Brian Williams even asked Sarah about it during an interview. This same media that felt privy to call Sarah out now sits silent, but what else do you expect from a media that gets tingles up their legs and hot flashes on a regular basis.

Then, again, this is the Obama Administration we are talking about. An administration that sees itself as standing tall above all of us mere mortals. The hypocrisy of this situation doesn't end here. Michelle Obama's mission to end childhood obesity seems like a saintly cause, but once again illustrates the administration's attempt to control Americans. I believe Sarah said it best when she recently wrote that the administration could save a lot of money if it would just let parents BE parents. It is none of government's business what we feed our children. Parents know best what is good for their children. Sane individuals know best how to effectively live their lives. When the government intervenes and comes in between parents and children, this is crossing the line and opening the door to more government control. Once the government crosses the threshold of the home, where is the line drawn?

Throughout the entire 2008 Presidential Campaign, liberals pundits and members of the so-called media elite repeatedly questioned John McCain's health and Sarah's readiness should McCain win and become president, but get ill or die during his presidency. While they looked at McCain's age as a factor, it was his history of skin cancer that drew the most red flags from liberals. I still remember all of the ridiculous reports that I heard and read time and time again. There was no doubt that John McCain had the drive, enthusiasm and health do an adequate job as president. I have to wonder where these same pundits were this past weekend. While President Obama has not yet reached the age of 50 and is in good health, his cholesterol is high, and he continues to struggle with smoking. You all know that had this been President Bush's health report, the media and left would be jumping frantically up and down, voicing their concerns, but not with Mr. Obama. FOX News Channel did air a story and a live report about Obama's physical, but MSNBC did not even air so much as a mention of it. Forgetfulness or an error in judgment? I'll let you decide.

I really don't care if my president's cholesterol is a tad-bit high and he smokes because, frankly, it is none of my business, but it is unfortunate that the left does not see it this way. I applaud Sarah and individuals like her for calling out the democrats and their epic fail of a health care bill. It does not take a rocket scientist to tell us that we should eat healthy and exercise. Before the government attempts to come into our homes and tell us how we should live our lives, I suggest they stop and look at their own lives and lifestyle habits because the last thing Americans need is someone telling them to quit doing something they themselves continue to do. Americans deserve better.

Sarah Palin’s Death Panels: In BOTH Reid & Pelsoi’s Health Care Bills (Pages Provided)

Dingy Harry Reid slipped in a provision into the health care legislation prohibiting future Congresses from changing any regulations imposed on Americans by the Independent Medical Advisory Boards, which are commonly called the Death Panels. It is section 3403 from pages 1,000 to 1,0007 of the Reid substitute. 

There is established an independent board to be known as the ‘Independent Medicare Advisory Board:  

PURPOSE.—It is the purpose of this section to, in accordance with the following provisions of this section, reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending.

• By requiring the Chief Actuary of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to determine in each year to which this section applies the projected per capita growth rate under Medicare for the second year following the determination year.

• If the projection for the implementation year exceeds the target growth rate for that year, by requiring the Board to develop and submit during the first year following the determination year this a proposal containing recommendations to reduce the Medicare per capita growth rate to the extent required by this section by requiring the Secretary to implement such proposals unless Congress enacts legislation pursuant to this section.

Funny how the liberals at Politifact (Death Panels: Lie of the Year) or the St. Petersburg Times are so blinded by their 

liberalism they actually do no fact checking.  On top of that they miss the underlining characteristics of all government 

agencies and the services they provide.  All governments are incredibly inefficient, wasteful and always provide lower quality 

compared to the private sector faced with competition.  To lower costs they are incapable of becoming efficient and will 

always resort to reducing services.  Government health care is no different but our lives are directly affected. Death Panels 

have been in every health care bill which includes dozens of advisory boards, panels and committees with the responsibility 

of reducing costs at our expense. 

But what can you say, like any gullible fool who thought for even a milli-second that Obama is qualified or worthy to be 

president has severe judgement problems.  So when those that voted for and supported the disaster Obama speak of Sarah 

Palin all we need to do is simply apply the opposite.

Sarah Palin: Cancer Screenings: Rational Advice or Rationed Care?

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook post on cancer screenings, why cancers specific to women receive sub-standard attention, and the relation of screenings to the current health care debate:

It was a breath of fresh air to finally hear the Democrats admit to their health care bill as “a lot of show and tell and razzmatazz,” (see Democrat talking points, in reference to my book). At least now we’re all on the same page when discussing the problems with their monstrous government health care “reform” plan (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

Now, tonight, more disconcerting news – the New York Times reports of new guidelines to scale back cervical cancer screenings. The recommendation from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists comes on the heels of another recommendation to limit breast cancer screenings with mammograms. There are many questions unanswered for me, but one which immediately comes to mind is whether costs have anything to do with these recommendations. The current health care debate elicits great concern because of its introduction of socialized medicine in America and the inevitable rationed care. We need to carefully watch this debate as it coincides with Capitol Hill’s debate and determine whether we are witnessing the early stages of that rationed care before the Senate bill is rushed through as well (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

Another question is why these women-focused cancers are seemingly receiving substandard attention at a time when proactive health and fitness should be the message. Every woman should encourage rigorous debate to ensure that our collective voices are heard. We are paying attention to Washington’s health care proposals, and we want to hear what helps patients the most (Palin, 2009, ¶3).

We need answers: Is early screening not saving lives? Why do doctors’ groups disagree? Did costs play any role in these decisions to change the recommendations on breast and cervical cancer screenings? We need assurances that everything we’ve heard this week about fewer tests for women’s cancers is a result of patient-focused research and providing the best care for the right reasons, and not because of bureaucratic pressure to control costs (Palin, 2009, ¶4).

Obviously the first thought that comes to mind when hearing of these new recommendations from bureaucratic panels is “rationed care.” It’s fair – and healthy – to ask if that’s what Washington has in mind with a government-controlled takeover of a health care system (Palin, 2009, ¶5).

Sarah Palin: Pelosi "Health Plan" Should Be DOA

We need to be vigilant in investigating the ramifications of the Pelosi Health Care Bill. Some provisions sound so outrageous as to be considered impossible to fathom, but they’re right there in the bill in black and white. For instance, page 297 of the bill explains the punishment for not purchasing government mandated health insurance. If you don’t buy what the government considers “acceptable health care coverage,” you’re going to be hit with a tax of at least 2.5% of your income. And if you don’t pay that new tax, you could be fined as much as $250,000 and sentenced to up to five years in prison.

But here’s the thing: they have to make the penalty for opting out very harsh in order to force us to buy coverage. The only way to keep this government run health care plan afloat is for everyone to buy into it – especially young and healthy people. That means that they will have to penalize citizens if we choose not to buy a plan that will cost a minimum of about $15,000 per family per year.

The bill that came out of the Senate last month – the Baucus Bill – does just the opposite. It calls for a much lighter penalty ($750 maximum) for people who don’t buy government approved health coverage, making it cheaper to pay the fine than to pay for the coverage. (And with a recession on, who can blame families for not wanting to pay $15,000 for a government mandated health care plan?)

But here’s the kicker: the bill also forces insurance companies to cover everyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions. Think about what that means. A lot of people – especially young and healthy people – will just pay the penalty instead of purchasing coverage because they’ll figure that it’ll always be there if they get sick, as government has promised. That’s what will happen, and when it does it will totally undermine the very concept of “insurance” – which is basically a group of people pooling their resources over time to cover themselves for a rainy day, paying while they’re healthy so that they’re covered when they’re sick. Those who are healthy now pay for those who are sick. If your insurance pool only contains sick people, it’s a bust. And that’s what this government plan will be. Without all of those young and healthy people paying into the pool and defraying the costs, the government will have to pony up more and more money, and who knows how long the whole crazy plan will last before it goes broke – and our country with it!

That’s where we are with this bureaucratic mess: either the government penalizes people so harshly that they could be hit with huge taxes and even possible jail time, or the government makes the penalty a slap on the wrist and undermines the plan from the get-go. Forcing individuals to buy health insurance seems unconstitutional, yet Congress wants to foist it on us anyway. Proponents of government controlled health care will say, “But we’re made to buy car insurance and home insurance, what’s the difference with health insurance?” It’s apples and oranges. Auto insurance is a state law requirement, and people can always choose not to drive. Banks might require you to have home owner’s insurance, but again, you choose to own a home, just as you choose to drive. You have no choice at all when it comes to this federal government health care insurance mandate.

There are other ways to reform health care without violating our Constitution and our personal liberties. Let’s get back to discussing market-driven, patient-centered, result-driven solutions, like, for example, allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines, tackling existing government waste and fraud, and reforming medical malpractice laws (tort reform) to stop unwarranted lawsuits that force doctors to order unnecessary procedures just to cover themselves.

Please let your Senators know that the Pelosi Bill should be dead on arrival. Once we go down this big government path, it will be virtually impossible to reverse course. Let’s fight for the reform that makes sense for Americans before it’s too late.

Healthcare Lotto, Anyone?

I was amazed to read that the health care bill just passed in the House is deficit free. That's right. No worries. It's all paid for. Impressive, dontcha think?

I set out to find out how this miracle transpired. I mean, the statement released by President Obama shortly thereafter the successful vote was clear. (emphasis mine)

The Affordable Health Care for America Act is a piece of legislation that will provide stability and security for Americans who have insurance; quality affordable options for those who don’t; and bring down the cost of health care for families, businesses, and the government while strengthening the financial health of Medicare. And it is legislation that is fully paid for and will reduce our long-term federal deficit.

Get out! Fully paid for?!

So, how did that happen? Well, first off, you kind of have to change around the grammatical tense of it all...because it isn't actually fully paid for yet. That's just a really, really big fat assumption. But more about that later.

The Congressional Budget Office, a self-proclaimed non-partisan organization that delves into financial issues surrounding bills that float around “the hill”, wrote a letter to Representative John D. Dingell (D-Michigan, dean of House) to give him the lowdown on the cost of H.R. 3962. It's posted online, and the White House administration is flaunting similar info found in the letter. Well, parts of it.

By the way, according to the NY Times, Rep. Dingell said yesterday,

“Today’s may be a tough vote, but it was in 1935 when we passed Social Security.”

Wow...now there's an awesome long term success story to compare this with.

Anyway, here's where some of the excitement comes in. The White House requests that you PAY NO ATTENTION to the last line. (sarc and emphasis mine)

According to CBO and JCT’s assessment, enacting H.R. 3962 would result in a net reduction in federal budget deficits of $109 billion over the 2010–2019 period. In the subsequent decade, the collective effect of its provisions would probably be slight reductions in federal budget deficits. Those estimates are all subject to substantial uncertainty.

Gee. It all seems so simple. What could lead to “substantial uncertainty”?

Now, I'm not a statistician, but chances are, somewhere among those 2000 Pelosian pages, there lies a bit of...I don't know...Healthcare Lotto? Maybe we'll win...maybe we won't!

In that same letter, the CBO lays out where the expenses lie.

Grand total over the ten years of 2010-2019 is $1,058 billion:

$1,052 billion in subsidies provided through the exchanges (and related spending),
increased net outlays for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP),
and tax credits for small employers

$6 billion in other effects on revenues and outlays associated with the coverage provisions

Starting the plan and financing it those ten years will be through “spending changes” (not specified), $167 billion in collections of penalties paid by individuals and employers (calculated punishments?), income tax surcharge on high-income individuals, plan premiums, and “other provisions” (not specified).

Keep in mind that the CBO also has pointed out that not every expense can be accounted for...there will be additional costs that other federal agencies will incur to handle the new program. The IRS and HHS will all need additional funds to function.

CBO has not completed a comprehensive estimate of the discretionary costs that would be associated with H.R. 3962, incorporating the manager’s amendment. Total costs would include those arising from the effects of H.R. 3962 on a variety of federal programs and agencies, as well as from a number of new and existing programs subject to future appropriations.

But really. We have nothing to worry about. It is “fully paid”. Whew. Oh, and don't worry about the years after 2019...that's when those "slight reductions", albeit substantially uncertain reductions, in the federal deficit kick in, and also...

The legislation would require that the premiums for the public plan be set to fully fund expenditures for medical claims, administrative costs, and a contingency reserve.

Hmmm. It does sound like it could get pricey later on.

But your state will help out...

New requirements in the Medicaid program also would result in an increase in state spending.

I am reminded of Gov. Sarah Palin refusing certain stimulus funds offered to Alaska because of the far reaching (into the pockets) consequences of those programs started with said funds. Looking to the future, she saw our children furrowing their brow and swinging the hammer, not to build a home for themselves, but to pay off the debt being loaded onto their shoulders today.

She knew better. Our elected leaders should know better.

Our first president knew better. In his Farewell Address to our nation on September 19, 1796, President George Washington wrote words of encouragement and admonition. And ever since 1896, the longest standing annual Senate tradition of reading it out loud occurs around his birthday. I wish the Senators would pay attention. Consider this timely advice.

“...avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt, not only by shunning occasions of expense, but by vigorous exertions in time of peace to discharge the debts which unavoidable wars may have occasioned, not ungenerously throwing upon posterity the burden which we ourselves ought to bear.”

Ungenerously. Plain selfishness, in other words. My husband explains often in his sermons that the opposite of love is not hate. It is selfishness. Every immoral and unethical act can be anted up to selfishness.

Another excerpt from Washington's address gives every hint to me that what we are seeing among our elected leaders is selfishness.

It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration to confine themselves within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of the powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism.

They do not care what “We the People” want. They are creating a ridiculous number of positions for unelected czars, thereby erasing checks and balances; buying out private markets; and bowing at the feet of intimidation...thinking all of that will boost their own significance and ensure their future careers.

But as Gov. Palin remarked just today, “Sunday's coming.”

How ironic that on the site of the White House Office of Management and Budget, a quote from President Obama is highlighted today,

“A budget is more than simply numbers on a page. It is a measure of how well we are living up to our obligations to ourselves and one another."

And yesterday? FromABCnews.com,

Obama reportedly told his fellow Democrats in that meeting that he knew they might face opposition from their constituents for this vote.

"It's tempting to say, 'I'm tired, it's hard, I'm getting beat up back in the district, it's just not worth it,'" Obama said, according to a source in the meeting. "If we do not get it done this year, we will not get it done anytime soon."

Huh! Just doesn't sound very obligatory, does it? Maybe that's why the House bill title page says, "...and for other purposes." Hmmm.

Sarah Palin: Good Intentions Aren't Enough with Health Care Reform

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin's Facebook October 17, 2009 statement on health care:

Now that the Senate Finance Committee has approved its health care bill, it’s a good time to step back and take a look at the long term consequences should its provisions be enacted into law (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

The bill prohibits insurance companies from refusing coverage to people with pre-existing conditions and from charging sick people higher premiums. [1] It attempts to offset the costs this will impose on insurance companies by requiring everyone to purchase coverage, which in theory would expand the pool of paying policy holders (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

However, the maximum fine for those who refuse to purchase health insurance is $750. [2] Even factoring in government subsidies, the cost of purchasing a plan is much more than $750. The result: many people, especially the young and healthy, will simply not buy coverage, choosing to pay the fine instead. They’ll wait until they’re sick to buy health insurance, confident in the knowledge that insurance companies can’t deny them coverage. Such a scenario is a perfect storm for increasing the cost of health care and creating an unsustainable mandate program (Palin, 2009, ¶3).

Those driving this plan no doubt have good intentions, but good intentions aren’t enough. There were good intentions behind the drive to increase home ownership for lower-income Americans, but forcing financial institutions to give loans to people who couldn’t afford them had terrible unintended consequences. We all felt those consequences during the financial collapse last year. Unintended consequences always result from top-down big government plans like the current health care proposals, and we can’t afford to ignore that fact again (Palin, 2009, ¶4).

Supposedly the Senate Finance bill will be paid for by cutting Medicare by nearly half a trillion dollars and by taxing the so-called “Cadillac” health care plans enjoyed by many union members. The plan will also impose heavy taxes on insurers, pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies, and clinical labs. [3] The result of all of these taxes is clear. As Douglas Holtz-Eakin noted in the Wall Street Journal, these new taxes “will be passed on to consumers by either directly raising insurance premiums, or by fueling higher health-care costs that inevitably lead to higher premiums.” [4] Unfortunately, it will lead to lower wages too, as employees will have to sacrifice a greater percentage of their paychecks to cover these higher premiums. [5] In other words, if the Democrats succeed in overhauling health care, we’ll all bear the costs. The Senate Finance bill is effectively a middle class tax increase, and as Holtz-Eakin points out, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation those making less than $200,000 will be hit hardest. With our country’s debt and deficits growing at an alarming rate, many of us can’t help but wonder how we can afford a new trillion dollar entitlement program. The president has promised that he won’t sign a health care bill if it “adds even one dime to our deficit over the next decade.” [7] But his administration also promised that his nearly trillion dollar stimulus plan would keep the unemployment rate below 8%. [8] Last month, our employment rate was 9.8%, the highest it’s been in 26 years. [9] At first the current administration promised that the stimulus would save or create 3 to 4 million jobs. [10] Then they declared that it created 1 million jobs, but the stimulus reports released this week showed that a mere 30,083 jobs have been created, while nearly 3.4 million jobs have been lost since the stimulus was passed. [11] Should we believe the administration’s claims about health care when their promises have proven so unreliable about the stimulus (Palin, 2009, ¶6)?

In January 2008, presidential candidate Obama promised not to negotiate behind closed doors with health care lobbyists. In fact, he committed to “broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are. Because part of what we have to do is enlist the American people in this process. And overcoming the special interests and the lobbyists...” [12] However, last February, after serving only a few weeks in office, President Obama met privately at the White House with health care industry executives and lobbyists. [13] Yesterday, POLITICO reported that aides to President Obama and Democrat Senator Max Baucus met with corporate lobbyists in April to help “set in motion a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, primarily financed by industry groups, that has played a key role in bolstering public support for health care reform.” [14] Needless to say, their negotiations were not broadcast on C-SPAN for the American people to see (Palin, 2009, ¶7).

Presidential candidate Obama also promised that he would not “sign any nonemergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House Web site for five days.” [15] PolitiFact reports that this promise has already been broken three times by the current administration. [16] We can only hope that it won’t be broken again with health care reform (Palin, 2009, ¶8).

All of this certainly gives the appearance of politics-as-usual in Washington with no change in sight (Palin, 2009, ¶9).

Americans want health care reform because we want affordable health care. We don’t need subsidies or a public option. We don’t need a nationalized health care industry. We need to reduce health care costs. But the Senate Finance plan will dramatically increase those costs, all the while ignoring common sense cost-saving measures like tort reform. Though a Congressional Budget Office report confirmed that reforming medical malpractice and liability laws could save as much as $54 billion over the next ten years, tort reform is nowhere to be found in the Senate Finance bill. [17] (Palin, 2009, ¶10)

Here’s a novel idea. Instead of working contrary to the free market, let’s embrace the free market. Instead of going to war with certain private sector companies, let’s embrace real private-sector competition and allow consumers to purchase plans across state lines. Instead of taxing the so-called “Cadillac” plans that people get through their employers, let’s give individuals who purchase their own health care the same tax benefits we currently give employer-provided health care recipients. Instead of crippling Medicare, let’s reform it by providing recipients with vouchers so that they can purchase their own coverage (Palin, 2009, ¶11).

Now is the time to make your voices heard before it’s too late. If we don’t fight for the market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven reform plan that we deserve, we’ll be left with the disastrous unintended consequences of the plans currently being cooked up in Washington (Palin, 2009, ¶12).

Commentary:

Governor Palin astutely described the Law of Unintended Consequences as it applies to health care. "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" may be hackneyed, but it is apropos in this instance. She delineates precisely how in paragraphs three and four, in discussing all the negative consequences of "Obama-care," in particular and top-down, big-government, micro-managed programs in general.

In paragraph 11, Governor Palin advances two free market solutions intended to work in concert with one another: permit consumers to buy health insurance across state lines, and provide tax vouchers for those who buy their own health insurance. Though not mentioned in this posting, Governor Palin has in the prior postings advocated for medical malpractice liability reforms.

Ronald Reagan would be very proud of his successor if he were alive today....

September 25, 2009 Synopsis of Governor Palin's Accomplishments

Governor Palin just returned from her first commercial speaking engagement in Hong Kong, delivering a 90-minute address that wowed friends and enemies alike. The speech covered government intervention in the economy, health care, China, terrorism, foreign policy, and investment in Alaska.

Governor Palin exclusively retained the elite Washington Speakers Bureau to manage her speaking engagements.

Governor Palin donated a dinner with herself to Ride 2 Recovery, which will be using 100% of the proceeds to benefit wounded warriors. Defense contractor Cathy Maples won the dinner with a $63,500 bid. Ms. Maples wants to see Governor Palin be President in 2012.

Her son, Track returned home from a year-long deployment in Iraq.

Governor Palin continued defining the health care debate with her Facebook postings on the subject. Obama's health care bill does not enjoy popular support and she has him on the defensive.

Another significant Facebook posting addressed the Associated Press' use of a slain soldier's image in news coverage against the grieving family's wishes.

In yet another significant Facebook posting, Governor Palin expressed her support of Glenn Beck and secured major viewership of his series on the Obama administration.

Though not physically present at the September 12 Tea Parties, Governor Palin's image and likeness dominated the events, and a 12-year-old girl inspired by her spoke at one of these gatherings.

An ethics complaint against Governor Palin's former communications director was dismissed.

Sarah Speaks Out: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

Last night Sarah wowed Hong Kong as she spoke from the heart. Like many of you, I anticipated this speech at the conference sponsored by the investment firm CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, and I prayed that God would guide her as she addressed the crowd. While the speech was closed to reporters (which is not uncommon), the AP was lucky enough to get a copy of the speech from an attendee who videotaped it. Although the speech was closed to the press, a few attendees were nice enough to tweet as Sarah spoke (without a teleprompter I might add). What an amazing technological world we live in. It was so fun to be able to read the tweets of those lucky enough to get a seat to the event. A couple of individuals who tweeted from the event were Cameron Sinclair (@casinclair) and @cellomonkey. Since the speech aired at 9:30 p.m. Pacific time, it was nice that I got to share this great experience with so many of my twitter friends and followers. While so many look down upon social network sites like Twitter and Facebook, the power and influence these websites hold are undeniable. Sarah even mentioned how much she loves Twitter and Facebook at the close of her appearance.




As I read each tweet, the two individuals tweeted, I saw the Sarah so many of us have come to know and love. According to an article from The Wall Street Journal, Sarah cited two former leaders, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, as guides for how to get out of the current economic situation we find ourselves in. As she spoke, she held firm to the common sense ideals that are so desperately needed during these turbulent political times. In doing so, Sarah discussed important issues like health care and the current budget deficit; she also spoke of China. While speaking, Sarah remained vigilant in her belief that the Obama Administration is spending too much and growing the size of government:

"We got into this mess because of government interference in the first place.... We're not interested in government fixes, we're interested in freedom (The Wall Street Journal)."




In discussing health care, Sarah defended her previous statements about the "death panels" and blasted the government for thinking it can be successful when it has shown that it hasn't been in the past:

"It's just common sense that government attempts to solve problems like [the] health care problem will just create new problems (The Wall Street Journal)."




She also discussed the way in which real health care reform can be achieved by calling for "market friendly" reform in the form of tax breaks to individuals so that they can go out and purchase their own plans. In the past, she has also argued that individuals should be able to buy health insurance outside state lines, which in turn would drive down health care costs.




In terms of foreign policy, Sarah reiterated her message that we must continue the global fight against the war on terror, and according to The Wall Street Journal:

"Her speech marks an effort to reach out to an international audience and define her political identity since resigning from office earlier this year. Ms. Palin is among a handful of high-profile Republicans seeking a path back to power for a party that lost control of both houses of Congress and White House in last year's U.S. elections"




While this is true, it is also important to note that Sarah didn't place sole blame on the Democratic Party. She blamed both parties for the budget deficit and excessive spending. Sarah also blasted the Federal Reserve as The Wall Street Journal reports:

"Ms. Palin blamed the U.S. Federal Reserve's low interest-rate policy of previous years for setting the stage for last year's global financial crisis. She opposed appointing the Fed as the chief overseer of systemic risk in the U.S. financial system. 'The words fox and henhouse come to mind. The Fed's decisions have created the bubble.'"




Well said, Sarah. In bailing out banks and auto makers, the United State's government is walking down a slippery slope of full-on government control, which suggests Progressivism and opens the door to socialism.




Perhaps my favorite part of the speech was when she spoke of two greats: Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. These two individuals are big heroes in my book because they illustrate the phenomenal traits of what it is to be successful leaders. According to The Wall Street Journal:

"She described her political philosophy as a 'common-sense conservatism,' and said the free-market policies of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher should be guides for how to get out of the current economic situation. 'Liberalism holds that there is no human problem that government can't fix if only the right people are put in charge,' she said"




When the government begins to have greater control over our lives, where is the stopping point? One does not have to look far to see that the government seems to mess up every industry it comes into contact with. Examples include the Post Office, car industry and banks. Sarah is not afraid to say it like it is, which is so refreshing during a time in which it is hard to believe any politician. It seems that as soon as politicians arrive in Washington, they forget about those whom they were elected to serve, as Sarah would put it, us folks on "Mainstreet U.S.A."




Overall, the reports by the msm have been favorable toward the job Sarah did in giving the speech. Sarah not only proved that she is not going anywhere, but that she is in it for the long haul. Furthermore, she is going to continue to dominate the 24-hour news cycle whenever she she speaks out on issues that concern us "Mainstreet U.S.A." folks. As I read and let my Twitter friends and followers know about @casinclair and @cellomonkey"s tweets, I was lucky enough to receive the following tweet from Cameron Sinclair (@casinclair), who is also scheduled to speak at the conference:

Like many, I view her speech as more than "OK," but I do agree with the point Sinclair made regarding Sarah attacking Republicans more than she did Democrats. I tweeted Mr. Sinclair back the following tweet:

@casinclair Thanks so much 4 tweeting us updates-I know that took a lot of fast-thinking :) I really admire Palin's independent streak.




Sarah is not afraid to speak out. She could care less about party because she cares more about speaking the truth and keeping our elected officials honest. Just because politicians have a "D" or "R" after their names, does not mean that they are right or wrong 100% of the time. It is important that we care less about what party someone belongs to and more about what they are actually say and believe. While Sinclair personally tweeted me last night, The New York Times published a story about Sarah's speech in which they said:

"Cameron Sinclair, another speaker at the event, said Mrs. Palin emphasized the need for a grassroots rebirth of the Republican Party driven by party leaders outside Washington."




While it is true Sinclair said this, he didn't say it to The New York Times, as he tweeted earlier today; instead, Sinclair posted the above comment over on his Facebook page. Isn't The New York Times sneaky? While I can say that I did directly hear from Sinclair himself, The New York Times did not. How awesome is that? I guess this paper did not or could not get into contact with Sinclair, so they took took it upon themselves to get the information directly from his Facebook page. I find it pretty cool that a normal everyday blogger like myself personally communicated with Sinclair, while a major newspaper could not. Man, oh man, how I love the power of Twitter.




In closing, I have to say how proud I am of Sarah and how honored I am to be one of her many supporters. Once again, Sarah spoke from the heart her valuable common sense message. She reiterated what we already know: Sarah is a woman who does not walk with the Washington herd. She is a true maverick who is saying and doing great things. Even though many do not always agree with her, it is clear they take notice whenever she speaks. In speaking on the same day as President Obama, she gave me hope, while the president did not. Sarah actually gave some remedies as to how we can heal our nation, while President Obama seemed to imply a one-world order in which we will all be on the same playing field, which is a scary thought given the power America holds. We are a country that is based of capitalism, the engine that drives our economy. We should be proud of our country. Why should we sacrifice any of this?




Many countries are oppressed and do not have the freedoms we, in America, have. What is so wrong with saying we are a great, strong country? What is so wrong with being proud? What is so wrong with supporting other countries such as Israel? While Obama apologizes for the actions of America, Sarah has always been proud to be an American and proud of what America stands for. This is so apparent in the way in which she speaks time and time again about America and those of us who live here. This is the kind of leader I want. This is the kind of leader I want speaking out for me. Sarah is a woman who is not afraid to speak of the love she has for her country. She is also not afraid to speak out on how American policy can be improved. Sarah's straight- shooting style is a refreshing change of pace from the ever-growing politics-as-usual mindset.

The White House Tries to Dance with Sarah Palin

Yeah, so, you'll have to read those tweets below in reverse order if you want the complete context. I'm not turning them around for you. Don't whine. I've got four kids. I can take it.

OK, just to fill you in with a little background...that Twitter user below, WestWingReport, is with the press at the White House..or in the press...or pressing...I don't know. How about embedded?

Anyway, WWR tweets updates on what the president is doing and gives White House tidbits now and then...unbiased for the most part that I can tell so far. But I'm keeping my eye on him...or her...just to make sure. Today WWR has been tweeting a few statements by a "Senior Administration Official" on the upcoming healthcare speech tonight by President Obama.

It's all been predictable to an extent, since we know that the president will try to push the public option...in a hurry. But what I found interesting is that tweet #5; the "official" throws a little, "Hey! The GOP and Palin agree! We have healthcare problems!", as if that point makes taking whatever President Obama throws in the ring completely acceptable. What??

I don't need to rehash what Gov. Palin has already outlined concerning what needs to be done to get healthcare on the right track; just read the latest Facebook postings. But I do want to point out that she doesn't "...need a title to make a difference, to help people," to quote her.

And since the White House is now just getting that fact, they are doing a little song and dance to combat it. So heads up! Be vigilant to the new attack the White House is attempting to snooker the masses with...that Sarah Palin is on their side.
