UPDATE: A Birthday for Trig and a National Television Debut for this Conservative Girl

UPDATE: MAKE SURE TO TUNE IN TO WHEEL OF FORTUNE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT, APRIL 21, BECAUSE I AM GOING TO BE A CONTESTANT. I TAPED MY EPISODE BACK AT THE END OF JANUARY, AND CONTESTANT COORDINATORS SAID JUST MAKING THE SHOW IS A FETE IN ITSELF. OVER 6 MILLION INDIVIDUALS SUBMIT APPLICATIONS EACH YEAR, GOING THROUGH THE AUDITION PROCESS, AND OF THOSE 6 MILLION, FEWER THAN 600 ARE CHOSEN AS CONTESTANTS EACH YEAR. I AM TRULY BLESSED!!! YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE HERE. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LISTINGS FOR CHANNELS/SHOW TIMES, AND SPREAD THE WORD; THANKS!!!

Just this past Sunday, little Trig Palin turned two years old. This Conservative Girl with a Voice is sure that this precious, little angel had a great birthday enjoying cake, ice cream and opening presents. Trig is such a gift to those around him, and the Palin clan is so lucky to have him in their lives. I wrote a heart-filled post this past summer about Trig and my pro-life stance that I have decided to re-post below:

This entry comes as I am traveling down the road. As a young woman, abortion is a topic that seems to be looked at by many as not much of a phenomenon, which is is very sad given the circumstances of what actually takes place during an abortion. I know it is not very politically correct to voice a personal opinion, but frankly I really don't care :) So this is going to be an entry from the heart, and frankly, I wish the folks in D.C. would speak from the heart on matters that personally effect them.

As a woman who values life, it pains me to think about the endless number of unborn babies who lose their lives to abortion each year. I began taking my pro-life stance seriously when I entered my mid 20s. All life is precious, and a baby deserves the chance to grow up. If given the chance, he or she may grow up to become to become a doctor, teacher, lawyer, or even president. The possibilities for these children are endless.

As you all know, my role model is Sarah Palin. The ultimate reason I respect her so much is because she walks the walk, which is the reason so many fear her. Those who fear her are unable to do so. In choosing life, Sarah welcomed into the world, a precious, perfect baby boy, Trig, who was born with Down Syndrome. Trig is not only the apple of his family's eyes, but of Americans everywhere as he captured the hearts and minds of Americans when we were first introduced to him during the 2008 presidential campaign. There are so many children like Trig all over our great country, and while it is true that children with special needs will face challenges, the joys they will experience will far surpass the challenges that will come their way. It is sad to think that so many children with birth defects are aborted each year; the numbers are staggering. During the 2008 presidential campaign, I remember hearing that an estimated 90% of unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted each year. When I look at beautiful children like Trig, I can't imagine how someone could choose to abort a sweet, innocent child with little fingers and toes, who will one day grow big enough to hold on to his or her mommy or daddy's hand and big enough to sit on daddy's shoulders. It's the everyday little things that matter most.

Life is precious and a woman who chooses life should be commended. In just having the baby and choosing life, she is giving her baby a chance. Yes, it is true that some women are not able to care for their newborns, but there are so many parents out there looking to adopt. If adoption was discussed more, I believe more women would choose life. Women unable to have children and those parents just wanting the chance to adopt would also greatly benefit. I know women who unexpectedly become pregnant are scared and sometimes don't know whom to turn, but those who choose life are heroes in my eyes and deserve our continuous thanks and support. Bristol Palin is a young woman who deserves just that. In choosing life, she welcomed the sweetest, most beautiful baby boy into the world and should be commended for keeping her baby. As she told Fox News' Greta Van Susteran, she can't even begin to imagine life without her sweet baby boy, Tripp. Bristol is a great example of a young woman, who despite her circumstances, persevered and became a stronger woman who is now a great mother;little Tripp is lucky to have her.

In closing, I began writing this entry a couple days ago while traveling to my family's cabin near Lake Tahoe. Since I started writing this entry, I have had the chance to sit amongst the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and reflect upon my pro-life stance and how important it is in my life along with my faith in Jesus Christ. Becoming a mother changes a woman's life, and I can't wait till the day I have children of my own. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding God-given responsibilities, full of a lot of firsts: First word, first step, first haircut, first day of school, first dance and first boyfriend or girlfriend. These are milestones in a child's life; don't all children deserve the opportunity to reach these important milestones? I can't wait to experience all of these firsts with my children. Although being a parent can be tough at times, the joys that comes along with being a parent make it well worth it. Children ARE our future, and ALL children deserve the chance to live out their dreams. Let's let them do that!!!

HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY, TRIG!!! I AM POSITIVE THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE TO INSPIRE AND MAKE AMERICA SMILE!!!

Happy Birthday, Trig - the Places You'll Go!

Trig, the places you've been, and the places you'll go! Since the first time we first saw you as an infant on the national stage until today as you turn two years old, we've watched you grow into a little boy who has touched many hearts along the way. We are so thankful that your Mom chose life and gave us the opportunity to watch such a special little boy grow up!
Our authors at Sarah's Web Brigade and the members of the Sarah Palin Web Brigade wish you a very happy birthday, filled with fun and good things. May you have many more happy birthdays, and may God bestow his blessings upon you each step of the way. Happy birthday, Trig!

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Happy Second Birthday, Trig Palin

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Happy Birthday, Trig Palin!

Governor Palin tweeted the following picture of Trig:

Unfortunately, some people--and I use the term lightly--have decided to post disgusting comments where the governor has posted Trig's picture. How do they live with themselves? Yet some of these same people will whine and complain that we're the ones promoting hate. They will reap what they have sown.

Thank God most people are leaving loving well-wishes for Trig, and I added my own.

The truth is Trig Palin is a blessing and a gift from God. The fact that he is has totally transformed my way of thinking, and I am so glad his parents have shared him with the world. He has been created in the Father's image and covered in His love.

Below is a full post I published in December called "Trig Palin's Testimony." It deserves to be copied and pasted here on his birthday.

(Video H/T Sinistar)

When I see Trig Palin, I smile. When I see him smiling and playing around with his father--as he is in the video--and kissing his mother--as he is in the picture--I smile even more.

Trig is a testimony to the beauty and value of all God's children. I thank God for families, like the Palins, who recognized from the beginning that "every good and every perfect gift" comes from God.

I shake my head when I think about this startling statistic: 90% of Down Syndrome babies are aborted. Look at Trig's smile, hear his giggle, sense how much his father loves him, feel how much he loves his mom--and tell me he's not worthy of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." You can't, because he is, as is every single life.

Thank God for His wisdom; He gave Trig to just the right family.

Happy second birthday, Trig. The best is yet to come!

Governor Palin Takes a Walk (w/ Video)

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

There is no question I have great respect for Governor Palin. Anyone who knows me knows it's true. One reason I hold her in such high esteem is because she's real. I think of issues she has taken a stand on and I say, "This isn't someone who has not been tested. This is someone who has had to put her money where her mouth is." Just look at her pro-life position. Governor Palin became pregnant at a time in her life that might very well be categorized "inconvenient." She then learned this child would be born with Down Syndrome. At a time when 90% of Down Syndrome babies are aborted, the governor put feet to her faith and gave birth to God's incredible blessing--her beautiful baby boy.

She has been tested--and has been found faithful.

Is she perfect? Of course not...but she's real. And that's what decent people want in a leader. We're not looking for perfection; we're looking for character. We're looking for someone who will walk the walk. That's Governor Palin. Why do masses of people gather anywhere she's scheduled to speak when most say that people aren't interested in people talking the talk? Here's the short answer: when people know you're walking the walk, not only don't they mind, but they actually want to hear you talk the talk as well.

On Friday, Governor Palin spoke at the Ohio Right to Life fundraiser and shared some of her personal story about Trig.

Laura A. Bischoff writes:

The mother of five recalled how at 43 she found herself pregnant with a child with Down syndrome and then a short while later learned her teenage daughter was pregnant. Palin said those two experiences gave her more empathy for women with unplanned pregnancies who face difficult decisions. But she added, “There is no accident. Every child has purpose.”

Her commitment to the cause can further be seen in her willingness to actually give to the cause. Palin Derangement Syndrome sufferers are addicted to painting her as a money-hungry opportunist. They doubted her when she said she would not benefit personally from speaking at the Nashville Tea Party last month but that her speaker's fee would go to the cause. I, for one, would not begrudge the governor any payment for her time and services. That's the way we operate in America, and people deserve to be compensated. However, on Friday, she showed herself once again to be invested in the causes in which she believes, for she donated her fee back to the Ohio Right to Life.

Bischoff reveals:

Ohio Right to Life declined to disclose Palin’s speaking fee — reported to be in the neighborhood of $100,000 — but at the end of her 45-minute speech Palin promised to donate it back to the nonprofit.

The $100,000 amount has not been confirmed, as it was not disclosed. Whatever the fee, Governor Palin did not keep it; instead, she returned it to the pro-life work there in Ohio. So much for simply being in it for the money, as the haters would have us believe.

Read Bischoff's full account of the event here.

To my knowledge, there's no full video of Governor Palin's speech, but there is this short clip in which she shares how she was in good company when she wrote on her palm at the Nashville Tea Party. It's priceless. Check it out:

Eddie Burke: Critics and Family Guy think Palins are Hillbillies

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Eddie Burke is the man. He calls it like he sees it. He's not worrying about who will stroke him for what he has to say or fretting the vitriol that liberals will throw his way. He stands up for what he believes.

In case you don't know, Eddie hosts the #1 radio talk show in Alaska, heard on www.kbyr.com, where he discusses all things Alaska and all things conservative. He is also a friend of the Palins and does a good job standing by them and calling out the haters.

I had the honor of meeting Eddie first in Alaska this past summer, and he's been a friend ever since. He's had me on his show many times, the most recent being last week to discuss the tasteless "Family Guy" episode, which showed disrespect to Trig Palin and the Palin family.

Eddie wrote an op-ed this week for Red County about that same "Family Guy" show. Did I say he's the man? He's the man! He rendered what can easily be termed both a smackdown and an analysis of what's behind Palin Derangement Syndrome, as evidenced by the television "joke" and other heartless attacks.

Eddie wrote:

Making fun of Sarah Palin's last born child, Trig, is repulsive! Let's think about it. If you had a Down-Syndrome Child, and you were attending a public sporting event, would anyone in his or her right mind publicly make fun of your child? No way! Then why would a national TV show make fun of this child?

Would they yell out jokes about your oldest teenage daughter? No! Would the broadcaster ask if your daughter wanted to have sex with one of the players? No! Has a Vice-Presidential Candidate's children ever been made fun of and mocked like Sarah Palins have? The answer remains the same: No!

Is it right that a scumbag radio Host, Dan Fagan, in Anchorage would say that Track Palin graduating from Army boot camp is "No big deal?” I don't know about you, but every person raising his or her hand in a time of war IS a big deal to me.

If you mildly agree with what I've written, then, you must be asking yourself, what in the world is going on here? Why are Sarah Palin's children treated differently?

What a good question. If you've asked yourself this question before, good for you. If you never have, ask yourself why not? Now answer honestly.

Eddie does ask the question--and he answers it. It's a sad conclusion he comes to, but I believe he speaks the truth, which is actually what makes it so sad.

Here is the answer: Sarah and Todd Palin are nothing more than a bunch of Hillbillies from Alaska with a Down-Syndrome child. Yes, I know-your drink just went down the wrong pipe. Secondly, if you're supportive of Sarah's policies then you are a dumb hillbilly too. This is what the "left" and most in the media think about the Palins AND us.

You see, people make fun of individuals because they think they deserve it, or some make fun of those who are weak and cannot defend themselves. Also, people are often made fun of because it's the "cool" thing to do. But when has it ever been popular to make fun of a mother's Down-Syndrome child? Never!

[...]

As a small radio "host" I look for material to air and think about how I might address a certain subject. Sometimes I might consult with my producer and get his thoughts too. But my show is unscripted and spontaneous, which leaves me open to say the wrong thing or wish I had said something differently.

Family Guy is a large production with many staff members; it's big time! You may be wondering what point I'm trying to make. They discussed the skit. There is a script. There was opportunity to change their mind. Many people were engaged about the material and how it would be said. It was premeditated. After all that, they still decided it was okay to run down a mother's baby who will never understand or be able to defend what they said about Trig. They just did not care. Getting the laugh justified the means.

Why would they do this? Why is this child a target? Why does this continue? The liberal blogs out there say it's because Sarah has brought "Trig out on stage." She has "exploited Trig." "Sarah has used Trig as a "political prop." Are you kidding me? Because a mother is proud of her child and refuses to hide him, they say she's using him?

Lets flip the coin and say Sarah never was public with Trig? Then, the "left" would say Sarah is hiding Trig, and she must be ashamed of him.

Eddie hit the nail on the head. Regarding Governor Palin, it's a no-win situation with some people--and if you've been anywhere on this planet in the last two years, you know that's true. If the haters weren't saying she's exploiting Trig, they'd be saying she's hiding him. She's doing neither. She's his mom. He's her son. She's simply loving him--just like you love those closest to you.

So, Eddie, what does this come down to?

I was hoping to close this op-ed with some profound answer or a solution to this disgusting situation, but unfortunately there is not much to be said about liberals' behavior and their hypocrisy. Here is one thought that I think is true: The left cannot stand that Sarah is Pro-Life. They are mad that she did not abort Trig; furthermore, they are mad that Sarah and Todd are so proud of Trig and that God chose them to share this child with the world.

Liberals and many in the media cannot stand the fact that millions of us all across this country find a connection with Todd and Sarah Palin. These socialists think the Palins are stupid, ignorant people from some swamp behind a beer brewery. There is a huge hypocrisy and double standard when it comes to the Palins as Fox News Anchor, Greta Van Susteren recently wrote about here.

Keep up the fight, my friends! Never quit and always push back. The enemy appears to be strong, but they are weak at the core. As Sarah Palin has said, "This battle is more important than me." It is about a deep set of differences between what our Founders have written and what these progressives want America to become. Americans have always fought and died for freedom for others, but there will be a time when we must fight for our own freedom! Are you ready?

Ready, Eddie!

UPDATE: If Sarah Palin were Liberal....- A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

As you all are well aware, the sitcom Family Guy recently took a swipe at Sarah Palin and her son Trig. (Read more about it here.) It sickens me that a show would go the lengths it did to make fun of Sarah and her son. As I mentioned in the post above, NO child should be made fun of or belittled. Many may be unaware of the actress who is the voice behind the Down Syndrome character. The actress's name is Andrea Friedman, and like her character, she too has Down Syndrome. While I don't at all agree with Andrea's choice to play a role that mocked Sarah and Trig, this is not what bothers me; instead, it is a letter she has chosen to distribute to the New York Times.

I guarantee that had Sarah member a member of the left, she and her son would NOT have been mocked in this manner. A great example of one such individual is David Axelrod who, like Sarah, has a (grown) child with special needs. Now, before the left becomes unhinged and cries out, "Well, David Axelrod never parades his daughter around" I will tell them that, during the election, Parade Magazine did a piece on Axelrod and his daughter. David Axelrod's daughter has been treated with respect and dignity, which should ALWAYS be the case, but where are the people to speak out when little Trig is attacked? Where is the fairness, justice and respect for him? After learning of Andrea's letter, liberal media outlets like the Daily Kos, Huffington Post and Gawker reporting the letter's (see below) contents.

Andrea's Letter:

My name is Andrea Fay Friedman. I was born with Down Syndrome. I played the role of Ellen on the "Extra Large Medium" episode of Family Guy that was broadcast on Valentine's day. Although they gave me red hair on the show, I am really a blonde. I also wore a red wig for my role in " Smudge" but I was a blonde in "Life Goes On". I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line "I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska" was very funny. I think the word is "sarcasm".

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

This letter should upset you as much as it does me. I usually do not spend my time on trivial issues, but when I learned of what was present in it, I became outraged at just how mean spirited some people could be. How dare Andrea say that Sarah's treats little Trig like a prop and carries him around like a loaf of bread? As someone with Down Syndrome herself, Andrea should know firsthand of the challenges Trig has ahead of him. Didn't it occur to her that little Trig will one day be old enough to learn that someone else in the special needs community called him a prop and equated him to a piece of food? While I commend Andrea for overcoming challenges to become a successful actress, I am disgusted that she would use her platform as an actress and advocate belittling the Palins this way. Sarah is a great mother who loves her family with all her heart. I look up to her so much for the way she includes her family in so many aspects of her life. She is not ashamed of her children; instead, she is very proud of each and every one of them. You can see it in the way she talks about them. You can see it in the way interacts with them. You can see in the way her children have turned out. She and Todd are excellent parents who have taught their kids what matters: God, family and country. I always say that if I turn out to be half the wife and mother Sarah is, I'd be a happy woman!

It is so clear that Andrea has a liberal bias. What I think Andrea fails to understand is that, although she does not see the harm the role she played has caused, not everyone thinks the same way she does as one reader commented over on Gawker. Andrea is a strong woman who has a successful career, so why does she feel the need to attack a woman as gracious and generous as Sarah? A woman who CHOSE to give life to her child. Although Sarah and her family are well-known individuals, they are still considered private citizens. I hate to break it to Andrea, but Trig is not the prop, she is. I say this because just as others individuals like Levi Johnston are being used by the media to tear apart Sarah and her family and to push their liberal agenda forward, so too is Andrea. She may not realize it now, but she will, and it is only a matter of time before the liberal media who swallowed her up spits her out. We can only pray that Andrea realizes this before it happens.

THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE I WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS:
I want to commend Fox News Channels Greta Van Susteren for her tireless advocacy for women in politics. It is no secret that Greta is a great woman herself who believes women should be given the same opportunities and treated with the same fairness as their male counterparts. Today on her Greta Wire Blog, Greta blogged about the absurdity of liberal Washington Post Columnist Sally Quinn:

In July, Sally Quinn, columnist in the Washington Post, defended David Letterman for his comments about Governor Sarah Palin and her daughter. In doing so, she criticized Governor Palin. My "favorite" of her criticisms ? It is in bold blue text below. Read below and then you decide who is putting family first - the mother defending her child from the comments of a talk show host who coincidentally cheats on his wife? or the wife who conveniently schedules a wedding so that her husband can't attend the wedding of a grandchild from a former marriage...and then writes a column to sugar coat it when it hits the gossip circuit in DC.

We report, you decide.

Here are Sally Quinn's comments about Gov Palin...followed by a link to her explanation.

".....Well, clearly, [Governor Sarah Palin] has not put her family first … And these children have, it seems publicly, to have been exploited by her in a, I think, really unfortunate way … She brings them all to the convention, including Trig, the baby. She brings the pregnant daughter with the boyfriend who clearly didn’t want to be there. She then travels around with the children, using them as sort of photo ops … she brings the children up when she needs them to shore up her own image....." [MS/NBC]

Click here to visit Greta Wire and read the rest of Greta's post, including Greta's reaction to Quinn's vile comments; it is a definite MUST READ! Greta is reporting on an issue that so many in the liberal msm are unwilling to do. Just as I and many others have called out the terrible, malicious actions of the sitcom Family Guy, Greta is taking a stand and calling it like she sees it!!! Thank you, Greta, for being a fair, objective journalist AND champion for women!!! As a woman, I thank you!!!

Nothing Wrong With Palins' Sense of Humor; It Just Isn't Funny

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Hotair's Allahpundit took up the "Family Guy" subject today, citing those who have asserted the Palins cannot take a joke. As you'll recall, the episode involved a girl with Down Syndrome who identified herself by saying, "My mother is the former governor of Alaska."

Along with everyone else who understands that enough is enough of this seemingly never-ending Palin harassment, I have denounced the show's tasteless use of Trig in their "comedy" act.

Days ago, Governor Palin issued a statement via Facebook, which included Bristol's sentiments.

Since then, she has simply continued doing what she does: be a voice of common sense conservatism at a time when sound judgment is seriously lacking in the current administration. Following the "Family Guy" episode, this week alone the governor has issued a detailed analysis of the failure of President Obama's stimulus bill one year later, highlighted Sean Duffy's "campaign to unseat the author of the stimulus," and brought more attention to the global warming hoax and the president's unsound economic commitments. The governor has not initiated any further comment about the "Family Guy" episode.

I, however, want to make the point that it's not the Palins' sense of humor that is to be called into question here, so let's not flip the script. It's the tasteless decisions of "Family Guy" that need examination.

Concerning a commitment to laughter, one look at Trig reveals he is full of joy. The Palins are obviously raising him to hold dear the qualities of humor and happiness. All children deserve as much.

What Trig doesn't deserve, however, is to be the butt of jokes on a show that admittedly specializes in being offensive, and neither Trig, nor anyone else, deserves to be the topic of a song designed to insult people with special needs, which was the case in that same "Family Guy" episode.

Here are the words to the song sung on Sunday's show:

You’ve got to look your best tonight, you tubby little parasite
‘Cause there’s a lovely lady and she’s waiting for you.
And though her pretty face may seem
A special person’s wettest dream
Before you get to see it there are things you must do.
We’ll try a tie, and boutonniere of yellow.
A rose that shows that you’re a classy fellow.
With a posh panache of Jefferson at Monticello,
Busting out a mile with style.
I know you just can’t wait to stare
At all that luscious orange hair
But boy before you touch a single curl
You must impress that ultra boomin’,
All-consumin’, poorly groomin’
Down syndrome girl.
On any normal day you reek
As if you’re on a farting streak,
Your fingers up your nose and you are dripping with drool.
But if you want a lady’s love,
You’re better off by smelling of
A gentleman’s cologne instead of sneakers and stool.
A squirt, a spurt of something just for Ellen
And you’ll see that she will find you so compellin’.
And she does because the only smell that she’ll be smellin’
Won’t be comin’ from your bum.
You want to take that little whore
And spin her on the dancing floor
But boy, before you do a single twirl –
You must impress that effervescing,
Self-possessing, no-BS-ing
Down syndrome girl.
Her eyes are emerald portals to a secret land of love
And her smile is like the sweetest summer flower.
Her kiss is so inviting, and her hugs are so delighting.
And what makes them really nice is that they’ve got a little spice
Because they’re tighter than a vice and they go on for an hour.
My boy, between the two of us we’ll get you on that shorty bus.
And then you’re going to take it for a whirl.
Now go impress that super-thrilling,
Wish-fulfilling, Yoo-Hoo-spilling,
Ultra-swinging, boner-bringing,
Daily singing, ding-a-linging
Stupefying, fortifying,
As-of-Monday-shoelace-tying,
Stimulating, titillating,
Kitty-cat impersonating,
Mega-rocking, pillow talking,
Just a little crooked walking,
Poorly pouting, boobies sprouting,
For some reason always shouting,
Fascinating, captivating,
Happiness and joy creating
Down syndrome girl
(H/T C4P)

No, the Palins don't have a problem with humor; they are indeed raising Trig to laugh and be happy. And I like a good joke as much as the next person myself. I just don't find the "Family Guy" episode particularly funny or complimentary.

Targeting the Kindest Among Us: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

When looking at how the Obama children and Palin children are treated by the media and Hollywood, it is clear there is a huge double standard. I don't have to tell you about the countless numbers of attacks that have been aimed at the Palin kids, while the Obama kids are continually praised and left alone. The treatment the Obama kids receive is the same treatment that the Palin kids should be privy to. Remember, you don't have to think that far back to the time when President Obama declared a candidate's children should be "off limits" to attacks. I agree with President Obama for once, but I will take his point one step further. I believe ALL children should be off limits when it comes to personal attacks. Supposedly we live in a time in which tolerance is preached, but isn't it funny that those who preach it, do not seem to practice it themselves?

I don't have to go into detail listing the countless number of attacks the Palin kids have had to endure; you are well aware of many of them, but it is the latest attack that has me sickened with disgust at Hollywood in general. Many of you have probably already heard about the hurtful lengths the FOX Hollywood sitcom Family Guy went to this past Sunday, Valentine's Day. For those of you who are unaware of the controversy at hand, here is what happen: This episode depicted a young woman with Down Syndrome. Not only did they make this woman have a snarky attitude, which is terrible in itself, but it is what was said and whom was referred to that was the most tasteless. When asked by another character to talk a little bit about her family, the young woman replied that her dad was "an accountant" and her mom was "the former governor of Alaska." There it is again- another cut at Sarah and her family. Trig Palin is a child who is not even old enough to tie his shoes, let alone defend himself- He's a small child for goodness sake. Where is the justice? Where is the respect? Where are the special needs advocacy groups to speak out on this injustice? Where is the head of the Special Olympics to speak out about this? After all they recently spoke out against Rahm Emanuel's "retarded" comments. Where are the groups to defend innocent, little Trig Palin?

This is the kind of story that effects all of us personally. Like many of you, I know many individuals who have Down Syndrome. How dare this show make fun of Trig and people like him? I am so disgusted at the tasteless actions of Hollywood, and I sometimes find myself ashamed to even admit that I live in such close proximity to it. Don't get me wrong. I love my state and the great people who live here, but when liberal Hollywood continues to belittle individuals and push a liberal agenda, it does a HUGE disservice not only to others, but to image of California in general. It is wrong to make fun of those with special needs, let alone unfairly portray them as snarky. I have NEVER run across any person with Down Syndrome who has such an attitude. On the contrary, if the Family Guy folks had any common decency, they would have at least portrayed the character in a fair manner, but then again, this is Hollywood, a place where decency seems to have flatlined.

The individuals whom I personally know with Down Syndrome are not snarky or mean in any way; instead, they happen to be the kindest, gentlest, most generous people who walk amongst us. It is no secret that they know they are different than everyone else, yet they have a can-do attitude and are so resilient to those who make it a point to let them know they are different. Why make it harder on them? Why continue to belittle them and treat them as outcast members of our society? I strongly believe that individuals with special needs are what make our country so great. They are so strong and loving that these Family Guy Hollywood types and those like them could learn a thing or two about acceptance and unconditional love. When individuals with special needs are treated differently, they they know it. Trig is a child who will grow up with enough challenges, so why do individuals continue to make it harder for him? It is time for Hollywood to realize that no two individuals are alike. It is time they quite making fun of people and start treat EVERYONE with the respect they deserve.

The attacks the Palin family continues to endure illustrate just how divided our country remains. Remember when Mr. Obama said he was going to bring the country together? I do too. His words sounded great at the time, but the inaction on his part when it comes to this issue speaks volumes especially after he and members of his administration have made hurtful comments about those with special needs in the past. Our country seems more divided than ever. The partisan politics that exist today leave me to wonder if our country will ever heal from its divisive wounds. While many are attacked, it seems as though the attacks aimed at the Palins far outweigh the attacks others receive. When are people going to realize that attacking a child is the most evil attack of all.

My good friend, Camille Friend, who runs the blog The Design Conservative
has written about this issue too. She was nice enough to list the show's sponsors on her site. I encourage you all to read her post here. I also encourage to visit and read this post by Adrienne Ross, another good friend of mine who runs the blog Motivation: Truth.

Family Guy: Equal Opportunity Jerks (UPDATED W/ Fox CEO Contact Info)

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

I do not watch "Family Guy" for one simple reason: I'm not a fan of puking my guts out and, no doubt, the show would create that kind of reaction from me. I've seen enough previews to know that it is the kind of thing I simply would not find humorous. I've seen their mocking of Jesus, for example, and frankly, I don't give place to that in my home.

Therefore, had it not been the subject of many a blog and email yesterday, I would not have known about Sunday's episode that alludes to Governor Palin and her son, Trig.

In the episode, a feisty girl with Down Syndrome has a date with a teenage boy. Forgive me for not knowing the names of any of the show's characters. Like I said, I have an aversion to puking; thus, my ignorance of the culture of "Family Guy."

As I began watching the video clip yesterday, I was scratching my head, for if there is any appeal at all to the show, I am completely oblivious to it. No, let me be honest: there isn't any. What I found was something that both angered and saddened me.

Upon demanding that she be asked about her family, the special needs character identifies her mother as "the former governor of Alaska." Without the use of names, it is an obvious reference to the Palins, as Trig has Down Syndrome and Palin is the former Alaska governor.

Much has been discussed, and even more written, about this episode. Even leftists acknowledge that this is below the belt. You can see the clip for yourself by clicking here. Personally, I cannot figure out why the Palin reference is necessary. I cannot figure out how it adds to the storyline. It certainly doesn't contribute to any humor that a good archaeologist might manage to dig up somewhere in this show.

"Family Guy" has taken a shot at Palin before. During the 2008 campaign, Palin and McCain were portrayed as Nazis. As insulting as that was, there is a major difference between that piece of trash and this one. That one went after adults. Sunday's attack? That attack involved a child. That attack revealed, as Bristol Palin so wisely stated, "that they're heartless jerks."

As far as I'm concerned, personal attacks are just asinine. Nonetheless, we adults have learned to just plow through them. However, when people's children are placed on the chopping block, a line is crossed that simply cannot be tolerated.

Let me remind you: Barack Obama told the media early in his candidacy to leave his children alone. He was right to make such a request/demand--and everyone obeyed. Children of public figures should be off-limits. Governor Palin's children deserve the same respect President Obama's children have been given, which is the same respect every child deserves.

So in the name of decency, "Family Guy"--and everyone else who has declared a never-ending hunting season on her children: "Leave Governor Palin's children alone!"

But what does the show's creator have to say?

The Times asked "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane for an interview regarding the matter. But he opted to send a statement via his publicist: "From its inception, 'Family Guy' has used biting satire as the foundation of its humor. The show is an "equal-opportunity offender."

Really? Well, if he wants to be "an equal opportunity offender," then he deserves "an equal opportunity" response from the people. If this is his only means of getting laughs, perhaps the show needs to find some new people who understand that there's no comedy in demeaning a special needs boy and his mother.

I am calling on all of us to contact the sponsors of Sunday's show to tell them exactly how we feel about the disgusting, heartless sense of humor displayed on "Family Guy" Sunday night.

Governor Palin wrote in her Facebook note that this "felt like another kick in the gut." It's time we kick back. You are consumers; therefore, you are powerful. Use that power.

There will be those who will say contacting sponsors, boycotting companies, and making our voices heard are over the top. To those people I say look at the clip of "Family Guy" mocking Trig--an innocent, precious gift from God who means as much to his family as your children and loved ones mean to you. Now tell me it's over the top!

Family Guy mocks Palin and the special needs community

It's not new news. Ever since Sarah Palin was named the vice presidential candidate in 2008, she's consistently been the target of sketch comedy shows,  but, unfortunately, so have her children. So when is enough, enough?

Just days after Palin lambasted both White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and radio talkmeister Rush Limbaugh for using the word "retard," why did the show, Family Guy, decide to air an episode which clearly takes a shot at Palin and her son with Down syndrome?

In the episode, a main character, Chris, dates a mentally disabled girl. While never mentioning Palin by name, the girl draws a clear comparison to Palin's son, Trig, when she tells Chris, "My dad's an accountant, and my mom's the former governor of Alaska."

This isn't the first time Family Guy has targeted Palin. In a previous episode, show producer Seth McFarlane (who spoke at a rally supporting Sen. Barack Obama during the campaign) loosely compared Republican candidates Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to Nazis. In one scene, characters Brian, Stewie, and neighbor Mort Goldman are transported back to Nazi Germany where they try to blend in by wearing uniforms of the Third Reich, one of which had a McCain/Palin button pinned to the lapel.

Being well known in the media can often times bring about unwanted exposure and ridicule. “When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent," said Bristol Palin in reaction to the episode.  "People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them?," Bristol added.

Remember way back, during the campaign, when both Obama and McCain declared that the candidate's families would be off limits? "Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics." Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case.

"If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed," Bristol said. "All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks."

Leave Governor Palin's Children Alone! (UPDATED with Gov. Palin's Facebook Note)

I do not watch "Family Guy" for one simple reason: I'm not a fan of puking my guts out, and no doubt the show would create that kind of reaction from me. I've seen enough previews to know that it is the kind of thing I simply would not find humorous. I've seen their mocking of Jesus, for example, and frankly, I don't give place to that in my home.

In the episode, a feisty girl with Down Syndrome has a date with a teenage boy. Forgive me for not knowing these characters' names. Like I said, I prefer not puking.

UPDATED with Governor Palin's Facebook note:

Fox Hollywood – What a Disappointment

People are asking me to comment on yesterday’s Fox show that felt like another kick in the gut. Bristol was one who asked what I thought of the show that mocked her baby brother, Trig (and/or others with special needs), in an episode yesterday. Instead of answering, I asked her what she thought. Here is her conscientious reply, which is a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question, “when is enough, enough?”:

“When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them? As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks. - Bristol Palin”

A Dead Fish, Expletives and Discriminatory Language: The Tale of Rahm Emanuel- A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

It is no secret Rahm Emanuel has a very short fuse and is prone to angrily attacking those around him. Remember the dead fish he sent to a political rival? Yep, he is quite a piece of work. It is what he has done recently that has concerned Americans like myself on fire. A gentleman from the great state of Massachusetts alerted Sarah Palin to an incident between Mr. Emanuel and participants in a strategy session. Instead of instructing the group appropriately, he reportedly referred to the participants as "F---ing retarded." Not only did Mr. Emanuel clearly cross the line, but he did so in a way that was both offensive and derogatory. While you and I know that his words were wrong and should be addressed, the media are once again turning a blind eye to the White House. This isn't the first time a member of the White House has unfairly mocked referred to those with special needs in a derogatory way. Just last year, our very own president made fun of his bowling skills, making fun of the Special Olympics in the process. It took a lot of pressing for the media to finally report the story causing president to apologize for words he NEVER should have uttered in the first place.

You think the Obama Administration would think twice before pulling such a stunt again, but, then again, we are talking about an Administration that prides itself on being a media darling. Can you imagine if President Bush had uttered such a statement on The Late Show? What if Karl Rove had pulled a Rahmbo? I know both of these men would NEVER even think to do such a thing, but if they had, you all know the media would be all over the story, as they should. Where are they now? Where are they to speak out on behalf of individuals with special needs and their families? Then again, who needs the biased media when we have amazing individuals like that gentleman in Mass. and Sarah? Thank God we have a woman who is not afraid to do what the media seem so afraid to do. In calling out Mr. Emanuel, she is literally calling out the entire White House for actions they seem to ignore. Adrienne Ross, my good friend over at the blog Motivation: Truth, has written an excellent post about this incident, and I stand with her and Sarah in calling out Mr. Emanuel for his terrible, disgusting use of words. (I encourage you all to read Adrienne's post here.)

Shame on Rahm Emanuel for using such vulgar language and hurtful words. He obviously thinks he is above any criticism because he seems to make a fool of himself on a regular basis; furthermore, he shows a complete disregard for people in general. Just today, it has been reported the Mr. Emanuel did in fact issue an apology to Tim Shriver, the CEO of the Special Olympics. While I applaud Mr. Emanuel's actions, he shouldn't just be apologizing to the Special Olympics, but to every member of the special need community and their families; after all, his terrible comments effect many. It is only right that Mr. Emanuel right his wrongs and apologize to all, for until he does, people will wonder just how sincere his most recent apology was. Actions speak louder than words, Mr. Emanuel.

Like my friend Adrienne, I too work at a school. When I heard that Mr. Emanuel had made uttered this statement, I immediately thought of the high school students I work with. I work with a variety of students from all walks of life. I would NEVER refer to any one of my students as "retarded." All members of our society should feel welcome and accepted. No one deserves to be called a word that so many have rightfully tried to remove from use. If anyone has the right to speak out in outrage, it is Sarah. As the mother of a child with special needs and an advocate for children and adults with special needs, Sarah understands firsthand how much words like "retarded" hurt individuals.

Individuals with special needs deserve the same amount of respect as you and me. They are hard-working individuals who just want to be treated like everyone else, and when individuals like Rahm Emanuel spew hateful words like that, it is insulting and unfair to these amazing individuals. Wake up, Mr. Emanuel! Wake up, Mr. Obama. Wake up, lame stream media! Wake up and see that by letting comments like this go unnoticed, it seems to insinuate that you welcome dialogue that includes terms like "retarded." One can only hope that you all wise up and become as welcoming and loving as those in our special needs community, for they are true examples of people who exhibit unconditional love, for they live their lives with kind hearts and open minds. They truly do make the world a better place, and for this, the least we could do is show them the respect they deserve!

The following is Sarah's note to Mr. Emanuel:
Are You Capable of Decency, Rahm Emanuel?

The newly-released mind-boggling, record-smashing $3,400,000,000,000 federal budget invites plenty of opportunity to debate the merits of incurring more and more debt that will drown the next generation of Americans. Never has it been possible to spend your way out of debt. So... let the debate begin.

Included in the debate process will be opportunities for our president to deliberate internally the wisdom of this debt explosion, along with other economic, military and social issues facing our country. Our president will discuss these important issues with Democrat leaders and those within his inner circle. I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm’s continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.

The Obama Administration’s Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, “F---ing retarded,” according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking.

A patriot in North Andover, Massachusetts, notified me of Rahm’s “retarded” slam. I join this gentleman, who is the father of a beautiful child born with Down Syndrome, in asking why the Special Olympics, National Down Syndrome Society and other groups condemning Rahm’s degrading scolding have been completely ignored by the White House. No comment from his boss, the president?

As my friend in North Andover says, “This isn’t about politics; it’s about decency. I am not speaking as a political figure but as a parent and as an everyday American wanting my child to grow up in a country free from mindless prejudice and discrimination, free from gratuitous insults of people who are ostensibly smart enough to know better... Have you no sense of decency, sir?”

Mr. President, you can do better, and our country deserves better.

- Sarah Palin

UPDATE: Yesterday, I posted a piece about why I am pro-life. I learned this afternoon that phenonmenal blogger, Robert Stacy McCain, was inspired by my post, so he wrote his own post in support of life and mentioned my post. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart. The Other McCain is THE REAL DEAL FOR SURE!!! Read his must-read post here.

Pro-Choice or Anti-Life? A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

As a woman, I consider myself a modern-day feminist who stands on the side of life. As a pro-life woman, I believe every child has the right to live. I have to admit that I did not always feel as strongly about my pro-life views as I do today. While I have always described myself as a pro-lifer, there was a time when I didn’t really have a strong opinion either way. Many of you may be wondering, “What made her change her mind; what made her garner the strong pro-life stance she has today?” My response is simple and can be summed up in four words: Sarah and Trig Palin. Before Sarah stepped to the forefront, I never gave much thought to the whole “abortion” debate. While I knew that I would personally ALWAYS choose life, I never gave it much thought beyond my own personal beliefs. Blame it on society, blame it on the media and pop culture, or blame it on my young, naive self. My entire perspective changed when Sarah illustrated how wonderful giving someone life could be. Little Trig Palin represents how amazing an experience choosing life can be. This little angel has changed my whole perspective on the whole pro-life/ pro-choice debate. This little boy is a reminder that ALL life IS precious.

The love the Palins have for little Trig is clearly evident. Sarah has said on many occasions that she cannot begin to imagine her life without little Trig in it. She has also repeatedly stated how much she has already learned from her special, precious little boy. The images I saw of Sarah and Trig FINALLY awakened me and made me realize that ALL life IS precious. As a young woman, I am so glad to have a role model like Sarah. She is the epitome of a modern-day feminist. My definition of a modern-day feminist is any woman who values God, family, career and LIFE. A woman who has a successful career and a loving family. This is an every woman, a woman who knows what’s important and seeks to make the right decisions even when those decisions may be hard sometimes.

I don’t care what the NOW (National Organization for Women) women think of me or my definition of what a feminist, a REAL feminist is. They can hate me all they want. For me, I view anyone who speaks out against a woman like Sarah and the choice she made as not only hateful, but cowardly as well. They are cowards because these same women who preach choice and equality, are not able to commend a woman like Sarah, Bristol and Pam Tebow for the choice they made in choosing life. They say they are PRO-choice, but from this girl’s point of view, they seem to be against anyone who goes against their ideas and agenda. I’m sorry, but not only is this group and groups like it hateful, but way out of line and out of touch with the reality of the world around them. After all, it is important to note that more people consider themselves pro-life now than in years passed. That’s right, NOW women! It’s called pro-life, not anti-abortion. I’m sure many of you are as disgusted with the media as I am, especially when they refer to us, in the pro-life crowd, as the "anti-abortion" folks. If they are going to refer to us by using this “anti-abortion” rhetoric, I guess we can refer to those in the pro-choice community as “pro-abortion”? Yeah, NOW women, that doesn’t sound so politically correct now, does it?

Although it is not politically correct for me to refer to those in the pro-choice community this way, it is the truth. I'm sorry, but these pro-abortion groups are speaking out against the choice that a very brave woman, Pam Tebow, made. When they speak out, it is almost as if they are speaking out against life- Tim Tebow is that life. I come to this conclusion because these very same groups who are speaking out against this Focus on the Family advertisement are the very same groups who have NOT even seen the advertisement in question; instead, they are resorting to hate-filled tactics in order to spread, what seems to be, an anti-life message. I realize this is harsh, but I have no reason to believe otherwise especially when NOW and other female groups like them have yet to commend Pam Tebow on her decision to CHOOSE life, that's right NOW women, it was her choice, not yours. Get over it!

Just the other day, Sarah posted a Facebook Note in which she discussed the double standard of these so-called feminists. I am so proud of Sarah for speaking out against the double standard of so many groups that claim to be for women. I am so glad Sarah voiced her support for Tim Tebow and his mother's decision to choose life after doctors told her that it would be in her best interest to have an abortion. Just think how easy it would have been for Sarah, Pam and even Bristol to go into a clinic and get an abortion. Instead, they chose life, which illustrates that good can come from even the least of ideal circumstances. This is why I am proud to call myself pro-life.

Sarah, Pam and Bristol are my heroes. Trig, Tim and Tripp are living proof that good can definitely come out of difficult circumstances. These three individuals are living proof of the miracle of life. How dare feminist groups like NOW speak out against an advertisement that celebrates life? After all, where would these women be if their mothers had chosen to have an abortion? They would not be here today to speak out, voice their First-Amendment right and protest against this advertisement. As I stated above, I have yet to hear an argument that speaks out against the ad itself. When these groups attack groups like Focus on the Family, this further illustrates just how threatened they feel by a pro-life message and the groups who speak to the importance of choosing life.

I think these feminist groups could find a better use their time by going after advertisements that REALLY degrade women. I have some suggestions for them- how about going after companies like Go Daddy or PETA, who degrade women regularly. Like you, I love watching the Super Bowl and the advertisements that come with it, and just like in years past, I am sure Go Daddy and PETA will go for that “shock value” as these companies do every year come Super Bowl Sunday. Where are you NOW when women like me could use some real support? Oh yeah, that’s right, you stand silent. You stood silent when Sarah, Bristol and Willow were sexually degraded and personally attacked on a daily basis, and you stand silent now. How dare you call yourselves supporters of women, when it is clear you have a hidden agenda of only standing by those who share your values?

While I do not agree at all with Hillary Clinton politically, I repeatedly posted on my blog and spoke out publicly my anger at those who attacked Hillary and degraded her. Like Sarah, Hillary was put through the ringer and did not deserve to be treated the way she was. Sarah was right when she said that it is harder to be a woman in politics. It is harder because you have feminist groups like NOW who preach tolerance and equality, but show the most hate and intolerance for women who don’t agree with them and their message. I will say that there is a difference between Sarah and Hillary. While feminist groups like NOW stood by Hillary and supported her, they remained silent when Sarah and her daughters were attacked with the vilest attacks imaginable. This is further proof that these women just don’t get it. They may claim to support all women, but we KNOW the truth.

I am so proud to be a pro-life, modern-day feminist, and I will forever be grateful to all women who choose life. It is clear that life will throw you curveballs, but it is all about how you choose to go about hitting those curveballs out of the ballpark. While abortion may seem like the easy way out, it is important to think about that little life you are carrying inside of you. Think about this little life and the contributions this little girl or boy will bring to the world around them. When you think about this, it all is put into perspective, and it all makes sense. Think about all of the babies who are aborted each year and every year. Little angels who didn’t get the choice to live. Don’t they deserve the chance to succeed? Don’t they deserve the chance to grow up and be the valedictorian, the prom queen, the star athlete, the doctor, the lawyer, the veterinarian, or the president? They sure do. They deserve the same opportunities members of so-called feminist groups have been given. I applaud CBS for doing the right thing and agreeing to air the Tebow family advertisement, and like Sarah, I hope they stand firm next to the decision to let it air!

Happy Birthday, Tripp!

The Palin household will be celebrating another birthday today – the first birthday of Bristol’s son Tripp. His first year has been a busy one – filled with the usual childhood events as well as media events and appearances in People and GQ magazines. He and his slightly older Uncle Trig have practically become media stars in their own right. Besides the celebrity status of a certain famous relative, both boys are testaments to the value and sanctity of life. And from all accounts, Bristol is an amazing mother, as is her own mother.

Tripp’s birth was mentioned on the Washington Post’s “This Day in History” (h/tp C4P) this morning. How many one-year-olds do you know that make that list?

On behalf of all of us at Sarah’s Web Brigade and the Sarah Palin Web Brigade, I want to wish Tripp a happy, fun-filled birthday today and many more to come! May your days be filled with good things, and may your future hold many happy moments and successes!

Trig Palin's Testimony

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

Sarah Palin: Detractors have it all wrong

I have been cruising the web, reading the stories, and shaking my head. It doesn't surprise me anymore, the vicious attacks against Sarah Palin and her family, although it does sadden me. With all the media coverage surrounding Sarah's book tour, a new sling of accusations against our former governor have emerged, once again focusing on her as a wife and mother.

I tend not to read the comments posted by readers of online articles, particularly those commenting on articles involving Sarah. There will be comments by supporters, but more often than not there will be comments by those who have nothing good to say, and pick apart those who do. Reading articles I have seen a common thread in recent days, attacking Sarah once again. These comments accuse her of using the kids as props, traveling with the kids, and even a comment about Trig not having shoes on in one video clip, asking "what kind of mother are you?" of Sarah.

Remember Princess Diana? I thought today of an article written years ago after Prince William, her oldest, was born. It said that Princess Diana would spend time playing music in Prince William's nursery, even standing over him with a camera, clicking away so that he could get used to the sound of the cameras that would flash his image and follow him everywhere he went. This is their reality, the reality of someone in the spotlight. Trig, who has Down Syndrome, seems to have adjusted very well to all the attention which might not have been the case had his family not gotten him used to the attention. Supporters are interested in seeing the children, because it is part of who Sarah is - she is a working mother - and many of us admire her for that. Her children are part of who she is, and it would be foolish and impossible to hide them away. I am certain that if she did hide them away, we would again be hearing from detractors, this time accusing her of not spending time with her children and keeping them shuddered.

I live in Wasilla (Sarah's home town) and have spent time with the family and I have to say this - this is one of the most well adjusted families I have seen. The kids are involved in sports, after school activities, and are very social. I've seen them running after school to go sledding, walking pets, and playing with family and friends. When asked how a trip went, often you get a quick "OK" and then a change of topic. They move on. Many, many children of those in politics and celebrity have traveled with their parents. Imagine the opportunities these kids have already had. They have met people and seen parts of the country most of us will never get a chance to see. These children are not hidden away. They are out there for us to see, but are supported, loved, and reminded of how blessed they are to have the opportunities they have. I have never seen any of them take it for granted.

And as far as Trig and his shoes - obviously this comment was not written by the mother of a young child. To that commentor I say this: When you invent a way to keep socks on little feet, let the rest of us know, ok?

New Feminism: A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

What an eventful day yesterday. As you all know, Sarah Palin was scheduled to be a guest on #1 Alaska Radio Show Host Eddie Burke's show. Right before his show aired, he informed me that Sarah would be appearing on Wednesday's show instead. (Eddie's show airs from 3-6 PST. Click here to listen.) He asked me to come on the show at 3:30 PST, so I called Rishi, Eddie's producer before 3:30, and Rishi was nice enough to tell me that he would call me when Eddie was ready. See, isn't he a nice liberal? Rishi ended up calling me back about 15 minutes later, and I was put on to be interviewed by Eddie. I hope you all had the chance to listen to Eddie's show yesterday because you saw how great of a host Eddie is. While talking with Eddie, I was struck with just how great the people of Alaska are. I cannot wait to visit the state in May and meet the great folks who live there.

It was during my conversation with Eddie that I discovered what I would write about today. During our conversation, Eddie and I talked about a variety of Sarah-related issues, but it was our discussion of feminism that really fired me up. To many, including myself, Sarah is a modern-day feminist. She is a strong, intelligent woman who is happily married, loves being a mom and grandma and cherishes her career as well. The fact is that she stands for EVERYTHING self-described feminists have fought so hard against. She is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-marriage, pro-traditional family values and to top it all off, not afraid to dress feminine; she is comfortable in her own skin. Sarah is definitely the kind of woman these hateful so-called feminists warned us all about. The very fact that she chose life for her baby, precious little Trig, is further proof that she is not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. It infuriates these self-described feminist women every time she holds her baby, cares for her baby, loves her baby. It infuriates these women because they know that, unlike Sarah, they WOULD NOT have the courage to give birth to a child with special needs. That is why they hate her and loathe her; furthermore, Trig is evidence of just how precious and beautiful choosing life can be, which further sets these feminists tongues ablaze.

These so-called feminists preach equality and women's rights, while shunning the very fact that they are women themselves. They claim to want justice for women, yet they carry themselves like men. Instead of being proud proud of their feminine qualities, they wear pantsuits, flats and masculine haircuts. What happened to being proud of being a woman? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with a classy black pantsuit, but I am talking about the self-described feminists who wear them. They hate Sarah because she is not afraid to wear a classy pencil skirt, blazer and heels. She is not afraid to wear her hair below her shoulders, put on some great makeup and flaunt her beautifully high cheek bones. When did it become wrong to want to appear beautiful both inside and out? When did it become so wrong for a woman to actually dress like a woman? While this seems like common sense to you and me, the NOW women, Planned Parenthood women and other liberal feminists out there do not believe in this type of woman. They do not believe a woman can be both intelligent and attractive.

Liberal, self-described feminists look down on Sarah for this very reason; it's as simple as that. They look down at her, as well as conservative women like her, because of the values she holds and the issues she believes in. Every time I watch feminists give interviews, I notice a common theme. These women all come across as being full of anger and resentment. I have been thinking long and hard about this. There is no doubt these women have successful careers and live comfortably, which is important, but something clearly seems to be missing from their lives. I fully believe this unhappiness results from the fact that they have found they are leading unfulfilled lives in which they seek to attain power, but lose out at experiencing any joys. Sarah Palin is an every woman in the sense that she has it all. The self-described feminists of today are clearly jealous of her for the life she leads. The extreme vitriol and hateful way in which they discuss her on television is proof of the fear they have of her, which speaks volumes in terms of the power she holds as a woman.

The very mention of Sarah's name has the power to destroy everything feminists have worked so hard for. More and more women are viewing Sarah as a strong, brilliant woman. The women of NOW and Planned Parenthood realize this, which is the cause of the ramped up attacks we have see occurring in recent days. Average-day American women are comparing these spiteful feminists to Sarah Palin, and they are asking themselves: "Do I want to be hateful, or do I want to be happy? What's so wrong with being proud to be a woman while holding a position of power?" Sarah is a happy, modern woman while her feminist counterparts are unhappily leading their lives as if it were still the Seventies. These same feminists who attack here and say she is a step backward for women are the same women who sit back and continue to watch as she is unfairly attacked. Where are these women to speak out on the sexist Newsweek cover that clearly takes Sarah out of context? Had that been a liberal woman on the cover, you know these groups would be out in full-force.

Where were these feminist groups when the AP put 11 fact-checkers to work on Sarah's book, clearly trying to discredit her? It is clear these woman do not care about rights for all women; moreover, they only seem to care about the rights of liberal women. My good friend, Adrienne Ross, of the blog Motivation: Truth gives an excellent reason for why organizations like the AP are doing everything in their power to bring Sarah down (courtesy of foxnews.com):

They're obsessed with trying to discredit her.... Because she's a conservative woman, they make fun of her accent, comment about her looks. She doesn't come in the package they want her to come in."

Well said, Adrienne. I believe what Adrienne said goes for the liberal-feminists who attack her as well. In attempting to bring her down, they are clearly illustrating the fear they have in the power this one woman holds. Sarah doesn't come in the plain, strictly wrapped feminist package- thank goodness for that; instead, she comes in a beautifully wrapped box, full of bold colors and topped off with a phenomenal red bow.

Sarah IS proof of how the times have clearly changed. She IS a modern-day feminist who is close to shattering the glass ceiling for women like me all over America. She is a successful woman who has a wonderful husband, five fantastic kids and an adorable grandson. It must really anger these women that Todd steps in and helps Sarah too. They are two equals, and for these liberal feminists who preach equality, one would think Sarah and Todd would be the poster couple for what a great marriage looks like. Yet, we are talking about women who loath traditional family values. We are talking about women who say they are pro-choice, but spew hate and judgment on a woman who CHOSE life. Sarah and modern-day medical technology ARE the reasons why people are choosing life. Women are seeing that little life in front of them on those ultra sound machines, and they are realizing that little being IS a living, breathing life.

When Sarah goes around the country with her family in the coming days, there is no doubt in my mind that the feminists who hate her will attempt to gain favor by speaking out against her just as they did when she held precious Trig on the campaign trail a little over a year ago. Let them try. Let them try to discredit her as an example of step back for women. Just remember this: We KNOW the truth. We KNOW what Sarah really is: She is a wife. She is a mother. She is a grandmother. She is a classy modern-day feminist who is not afraid to tell it like it is, doing it all in a classy skirt and high-heels. Yep, she is a woman of my time, a TRUE modern-day woman who will lead our country out of the wilderness and onward to that shining city on a hill.
