My Phenomenal Trip to Alaska: Part 3- A Post by Conservative Girl with a Voice

Since my last post, I have gotten back into the swing of things and back to my normal routine. My trip to Alaska was a very memorable, and I cannot wait to go back to the “Last Frontier.” Before I begin this blog entry, I just want to send a HUGE shout-out to phenomenal common-sense Conservative Talk Radio Host and Blogger Extraordinaire Tammy Bruce. For those of you who know Tammy, you know she is a valuable, no-nonsense voice to the common sense conservative movement. Not only can you count on her to tell it like it is and always report the facts, but she is a great defender of Sarah Palin. I have had the honor of getting to know Tammy via Twitter. Yesterday, Tammy was nice enough to retweet my latest blog entry, and later I was added to her blog roll. For those of you who do not know what a blog roll is, it’s a list of websites that blogger finds to be interesting or worth reading. What an honor! I just wanted to thank Tammy for taking the time to read my blog and for seeing my blog as worthy of being listed on her excellent site. Now, on to Alaska…

I left off part two of my blog with a description of my time at Ericka Burke’s fun-filled wedding. There is so much of my trip that I want to share with you. The wedding wasn’t the only fun event we attended that weekend. On Sunday morning, we attended church at the Wasilla Bible Church, which is the home church of Sarah and her family. What a great service and awesome bunch of people. We had fun singing country-themed hymns and listening to the pastor’s sermon. It was a great service, and the people were so welcoming and friendly. Later that day, we headed over to have dinner with Tracey Porreca (my awesome friend and photographer who provided many of the photos I posted in my last entry) and her husband, Tony. What a dinner we had. Tony and Tracey spoiled us with a great home-cooked meal. We feasted on chicken and beef shish kabobs, home-made pasta salad and iced tea. If that was not enough, we were surprised with moose burgers too. Now, let me tell you. I am a big lover of all things protein, and I was excited to finally be able to try a meat that Alaskans get to enjoy daily. During the campaign, I became a bit envious of Sarah when she talked about moose burgers and moose chili, but I never thought I would one day get to try it. Well, folks, I got to try moose, and I must say, it was sooo good!!! Not only was the moose juicy, but it did not have the typical “game” after taste that so many forms of protein like venison so often have. I also loved the fact that it was so much healthier than standard beef. Tony cooked the burger to perfection, and I ate my burger up sans the bun just because I loved the flavor of the meat so much. Am I making you jealous yet? If so I’m sorry. If for anything, go to Alaska just for the moose- you will not be sorry!!!

As the beginning of my last week in Alaska began, I started to look forward to seeing my friend, Camille. As my regular readers know, Camille and I co-host a radio show entitled The People’s Post Live. She also has an awesome blog and is helping out Eddie Burke’s run for Alaska’s lieutenant governor. Camille and I have become great friends because of these areas we share, and I could not wait to get together with her in Alaska and catch up. Since we wanted to save some of our sightseeing for when Camille arrived, we decided to rent a canoe and paddle around Lake Lucille where we were staying at the Lake Lucille B&B. (Note to the wise: A stay at this bed and breakfast is a must. Not only is it located on a beautiful lake-front location, but the owner, Carol, is so sweet and she has decorated the B&B beautifully. She also cooked us the most delicious breakfasts everyday during our stay.) Since we were staying on the same lake where the Palin house is located, I knew I couldn’t pass up the chance to see the house in person. I also knew that I couldn't pass up the chance to see the jerk (Joe McGinniss or Joe McCreepy, as the Palin kids appropriately call him) if I got the chance.

As we paddled around on the lake, it made me think of my time spent every summer at my family’s cabin near Lake Tahoe. The beauty and serenity was a much-welcome change from the hustle and bustle of my hometown of San Diego. The birds were chirping, the ducks were bobbing their heads into and out of the water, and I even had the opportunity to see a muskrat swim to the side of the canoe as he made his way back to his home on the shoreline. We almost had the lake to ourselves, and I was reminded how lucky I was to be in Alaska. As we passed the houses, many of which had boat docks and planes equipped with floats so they could take off and land in the water, it was fun to see the many ceramic owls that were strategically placed on edge of each of the docks. As we got closer to the Palin house, I could see why Todd and Sarah picked Lake Lucille as the place in which to build their home. The peaceful lake was a spectacular, crystal blue and the people who occupy the houses on it were nice, normal everyday people. The Palin family is too. Sure, the family is a household name, but to their neighbors and the rest of Wasilla, they are just the Palins, and I know this is how they want to be recognized. Sarah’s house looked just like many of the other houses on the lake. Sure, it was newer than most and had construction of a garage addition going on next door, but if one did not know what the Palin house looked like, they would think this house were just an ordinary, beautiful house. Their house is gorgeous. My favorite part was the many floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the lake. As I paddled by, I could imagine how much fun Willow, Piper and Trig must have just looking outside those windows in the wintertime at the huge, white snowflakes and making snowmen and snow angels in front of the frozen lake they call their backyard.

After paddling past the Palin house, we came to McCreepy’s rented lair, and wouldn’t you know it, “shame on you, Joe” was sitting on his deck and looking right at us. I immediately thought to myself, “Hadn’t he seen canoers before?” Ha ha- Did we look that out of place?” After he saw us and watched us for a minute, he hurried inside of his home. This guy really is a piece of work. After all, you must really be a nut job when you leave your home to travel to Alaska to move next door to the former governor of Alaska to write a tell-all about her and her family. What a loser. I can name plenty of other ways this guy could be spending his time. How about traveling to flood-ravaged Tennessee or the oil-ridden gulf and helping with relief efforts? Has he ever thought of taking up a cooking class or better yet, a class on manners? As I looked at Joe’s house, I couldn’t help but notice the American and Alaskan flags hanging from the decks. The Alaska flag especially caught my eye. Doesn’t he know that the majority of Alaska thinks he is creepy for setting up camp to spy on the gov? It seemed to me that the flag was his way of saying, “I don’t care what you all think. Suck it, Alaska because I am here to stay.” I was tempted to take a picture of Joe sitting on his deck, but I withheld from doing so. Even though I easily could have, something inside of me said that I shouldn’t stoop to his level, so I substituted the picture for a snarky glare that I hope he saw. Hear that, Joe? It is scary to think this guy in such close proximity to the Palins. His house is literally a few hundred feet, if that, away from the Palin’s house. Thank God for Todd and that fence. It’s unfortunate, though, that the Palins can’t just be themselves and trust all of their neighbors. A house should be one’s castle- one’s place to feel safe and secure in. What this creep has done is taken this right away. Joe McGinniss has invaded the lives of the Palins, and he has the nerve to say he feels like he is being harassed and bothered? He has the nerve to call the good people of Wasilla, Alaska, Nazis? Shame on him!!! The good people of Wasilla did nothing, but welcome me with open arms into their city- whether it be at a gas station, coffee shop, restaurant or on a street corner.

In the end, I am glad I didn’t resort to McGinniss’ level. I may be a talkative girl, but at least my parents raised me to always value honesty and integrity. I hope you have been enjoying my Alaska adventures. Americans Angry About Lying Media

How do you win the argument and convince people to elect conservatives again after the movement was on the ropes following the 2008 presidential election? When this blogger wrote the Fight for the Right page and Rebuilding the Republican Party, the answer was simple: convince them that the media lies. Once they realize the media lied to them, they will become angry and realize that we were right all along.

You'll never shove your candidate or your ideology down someone's throat because they will always protect their ego - unless they find out that they can blame someone else for causing them to be incorrect. "If I only knew" or "I didn't have that information" is the best opening line for any mea culpa. It is also the moment of revelation that angers a person when they realize that they have been misled. For many Obama voters with buyers remorse or Palin skeptics who were unsure of her, it's not their fault. They were lied to.

Right after the 2008 election was over and as Barack Obama was moving into the White House, I made it the staple of my diet to convince people that the media lies. We all went into the 2008 election with a "business as usual" approach. Many of us worked long hours to keep our heads above water during a period of economic contraction and crisis. While we expected the candidates to bash each other and put out lies and spin to further their campaigns, we never realized that the stuff that was spewing from the so called "objective media" was probably more effective propaganda than any ad the Obama campaign or George Soros released during that time. To make it worse, we busy Americans didn't have the time to research it. So voters took it at face value and believed that Barack Obama was the "messiah" and Sarah Palin was the dunce.

On the surface, the battle is with liberalism. But in reality, the nuts and bolts of the battle is with the media. Everything that Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity told us about Barack Obama and his agenda turned out to be true. In fact, Hannity will tell you he underestimated how radical Obama would be. The media slammed the right for the tactic of making an issue of Obama's associations with William Ayers, Reverend Wright and Father Pfleger. Yet, the tingles up their legs distracted them from scrutinizing the campaign tactics of the left like the DNC in Alaska which employed mostly unprofessional bloggers to slander Sarah Palin, the labor unions who were using members' union dues to campaign for Obama and ACORN whose workers who were lying and luring people into registering to vote as Democrats.

How was that possible? While ACORN was registering the "Donald Ducks" of the world as Democrats and handing out cigarettes to the bums they needed to pad their voter registration numbers, the media preferred to focus on Troopergate and Palin's clothes, which was a hullabaloo about nothing. While ACORN was committing financial and voter fraud, no one was there to investigate because they were all up in Alaska digging through Sarah Palin's garbage cans to see if they could find the pregnancy test she used for Trig or maybe the ashes of a burned book that had not been published yet.

What had become the Obama-mania media is the same media that honed the skills it would need to smear Palin by destroying George W. Bush before she hit the scene and which let John Edwards skirt by during the 2004 campaign. Had the media scrutinized Edwards the way they did Palin, you could bet every moose in Alaska his affair would have been exposed back then. This time, the media was AWOL, spending most of its time in Alaska and leaving the rest of the lower 48 in the hands of the Chris Matthews', Charlie Gibsons and Katie Courics of the world.

The Los Angeles Times gave Troopergate live play by play, but happened to neglect releasing a film of Obama at a dinner with Ayers where they were laughing at anti-Semetic jokes. Given the questions that are being asked about Obama's relationship with Israel today, that film is proving to be way more newsworthy than a family dispute between a governor and her brother-in-law. The Ayers film should have been shown.

Palin was massively criticized by the media for her "palling around with terrorists" comments, but no one had a problem with Obama sitting on boards with a man who admittedly blew up buildings. Nor did the media make any real connection about Obama's "57 states" gaffe with the 57 Islamic states. It took things like personal emails to each other to get this point out. Pamela Geller recently reported that Barack Obama told the Egyptian foreign minister that he is a muslim and "he would show the Moslem world what he would do with Israel." Another chicken the mainstream media missed has come home to roost.

We never fully recognized the scope of it during the election. I communicated then by email. I didn't have a blog. There was no Palin army presence online yet. I simply emailed my thoughts to friends and thought I was doing my part. When I realized that the media lied to us, I started my blog knowing that we needed a bigger presence and platform out there. It was with joy that I watched the web blossom with conservative and pro-Palin sites all through 2009. I knew people knew it. Today, the winds of change are blowing full force with Barack Obama now at 41% approval according to the latest Rasmussen poll.

Nothing the liberal media tells us now is believable. They can't save Barack Obama now.

And if it isn't a "I told you so" moment to beat all "I told you so" moments, than it is still a great moment. Brent Bozell III (the Founder and President of the Media Research Center), Andrew Breitbart, John Ziegler, Bernard Goldberg and Sarah Palin all worked tirelessly to hold the media accountable and to point out the blatant bias. The cat is out of the bag now. Bozell wrote "Americans have spoken and they are livid with the media." We have been lied to and we're pissed.

A new Rasmussen poll found an astonishing two thirds of American voters are at least somewhat angry at the media, including an entire one third who said they are ‘very angry.’ That’s disturbing but unfortunately, not surprising. The liberal media lost touch with the public and fair reporting long ago, and Americans are sick of their lavish praise for a President that is leading our country and economy into a disastrous state. The American people are abandoning the old media by the millions because they are simply fed up.

How does this play into the strategy of taking America back? It's the key component of it. The media was the wall between Americans and real information. Destroy the wall and take the castle.

Both Governor Palin and Star Parker are role models who inspire others to greatness. The Governor grew up hunting and fishing in the "Last Frontier." Star Parker had a more troubled upbringing and became a woman dependent on the government--until she saw the light. In spite of being from two different worlds, so to speak, today they both share an incredible love for America, a deep appreciation for hard work, and a commitment to common sense solutions. They're both willing to serve to see this nation return to both fiscal and personal responsibility. I wrote more about Star Parker in March here.

Palin: The Nature of Those Tough, Self-Sufficient Bears

Governor Palin endorsed three mama grizzlies for Congress this day, June 17, 2010, via Facebook post:

Last summer I stood on the grassy bank of an Alaskan waterway that was teeming with salmon to watch part of Alaska’s brown bear population forage, fight, feed, and fend off enemies to survive. I joined Fish and Game biologists to observe 42 of these majestic wild animals all within eyesight, all at once. Even though I’ve lived all my life in the “Last Frontier,” I still find days like that absolutely fascinating! And I swear the hardest workers on the water were those “mama bears.”

Obviously not waiting for another bear to do the work for them, the mama bears not only foraged for themselves to prepare for winter, but they worked twice as hard to slay salmon for their cubs, too, making sure the future of the population was ready for the season ahead. She would instinctively rear up on hind legs when her cubs were threatened – you don’t mess with her cubs. And most importantly, just as the well known modern proverb expresses, she didn’t just hand over a free fish for the day – she taught young ones how to fish for a lifetime. (There’s no shortage of life lessons learned while scanning our great outdoors!)

Bristol and Levi: Getting Along as Parents, Not Partners

Ron Devito covered this story here, and I will simply add my two cents:

News has emerged that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are moving forward and working together. That's all the talking heads need to hear and then they take off running with it--and get the information wrong.

Everyone wants something juicy to report. For example, "Good Morning America" and "The Early Show" quote a so-called source who said Bristol and Levi are spending a lot of time together and are a couple again. As usual, these outlets can't seem to discern fact from fiction. So let's set the record straight.

Radar Online got it right when they reported (emphasis added):

Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol, and their one-time outspoken nemesis Levi Johnston are back together—but just as co-parents to son Tripp, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

19-year-old Bristol Palin told RadarOnline.com, "Levi and me are co-parents of Tripp and we are actively working on being good parents together."

What this means is two people who brought a beautiful baby boy into the world are doing what's best for their son. Of course, Bristol has been taking care of Tripp all along, and has done so under difficult circumstances. Levi, on the other hand, was bad-mouthing his son's family, particularly Tripp's grandmother, and he was dodging his financial responsibilities. I wrote then about Levi's "triflin'" ways here and expressed hope that he would take a turn for the better:

I believe there's hope for Levi; I really do. And I hope he grabs ahold of it soon because he's treading on very thin Alaska ice.

Now, as late in the game as it is, he appears to have seen the error of his ways and wants to do right by his son. For Tripp's sake, that makes me extremely glad. In the spirit of wiping the slate clean, however, I hope he will make a pubic apology to the Palins. That, of course, would be a true lesson in repentance and humility, a lesson that would mean quite a bit to his son in the years to come.

Perhaps young men could learn something from this experience and choose to "man up" right from the start. Levi's actions were detrimental to his family, and right now he seems to want to turn that around. What everyone should be doing is wishing him and Bristol well as parents who want what's best for their son, not being gossipmongers who twist a sound parental decision into something romantic, which it is not.

US Weekly Lies about Bristol Palin's Relationship

A rumor started by US Weekly alleges that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are "spending nights together" at her new condo in Anchorage. An anonymous source told the rumor to US Weekly. Subsequently, other major media outlets picked up the story, without fact-checking and the story spread like wild fire.

Responsibility to Children Continues After Relationship Breaks

When a couple has children, even if the romantic union dissolves, each partner has certain responsibilities to the children they've brought into this world. Bristol has been doing a fantastic job in this regard, as reported by Elisa Lipsky-Karasz in a Harper's Bazaar article "Bristol Palin's Tea Party."



Caring for Tripp - and swaddling him - punctuates every aspect of Bristol's life. She has been Tripp's, sole provider and caretaker for the past two years. She changed the diapers, fed, cared for, comforted and provided her love. Bristol was and is fulfilling her responsibilities. She is a medical assistant in a dermatologist's office working full-time 8 AM till 5 PM. She advocates against teenage pregnancy for the Candies Foundation, owns her own condominium which "she is fiercely proud of," for she bought and paid for everything with her own money.



Johnston is taking more of an interest in his son and being more of a father - two years late, but hopefully this will continue on for at least the next sixteen years. Johnston squandered a fair amount of time being an absent father, and making poor decisions, such as: trashing Tripp's grandmother in various media, lying about the Palins, using his infant son for his own publicity, and pursuing a soft-core porn career. We're glad he is finally starting to behave as a father should. He owes the Palins a very public apology for all that he's done these past two years. Leaving soft-core porn entirely, getting a real job, rebuilding his education and his life would also be steps in the right direction.

According to the ABC News report, Gov. Palin expressed hope last year that Levi would "come back on the right road of wanting to be part of the family and Tripp's life." We concur.

Journalism 101

US Weekly ran a story entirely based on statements given by an anonymous source. True to form, the lamestream media cannot adhere to the basic tenets of Journalism 101 and fact check. Instead, they rely on dodgy anonymous sources, who always tend to either have a beef with the Palins or not even know them at all. Just because an anonymous person said Bristol and Levi are back together does not make it so. Media professionals could not see that this anonymous person's account does not compute?

It seems that US Weekly never bothered to contact Bristol or Levi to confirm or deny the source's statement, which is very basic journalism: get all sides of the story. Various media sources then re-ran the US Weekly story without any corroboration giving it much bigger play. Then they wonder why we call them "lamestream."

The Bottom Line:

Bristol has been a great mother for two years and is supported by a great family. It's about time Levi , started coming around. Co-parenting, albeit the right decision does not make them a couple because an anonymous source said so. The media has a responsibility to get all sides of the story. Integrity should trump ratings and sensationalism.

Palin will deliver speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial

Sarah Palin will join Glenn Beck on August 28th in Washington, D.C. on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial for the Restoring Honor rally.

The mission of the rally is to recognize our First Amendment rights and honor the service members who fight to protect those freedoms.

Those attending will see a miniconcert by Jo Dee Messina, who won the CMA Horizon Award. Also lined up for the event are Gary Sinise, Marcus Luttrell, David Barton, Ted Nugent, and the largest collection of medal of honor winners that have ever been assembled.

"And to bring on the medal of honor winners, along with Gary Sinise, will be somebody that I selected... not for political reasons at all, but because I think she understands duty and honor, I think she understands...the first people that we have to point out before we go into the badge of merit are the people that have done remarkable things in wartime. She has a son who is serving currently. Sarah Palin will also be joining," Beck announced on his radio show.

Palin appeared on the Glenn Beck show and thanked Beck for the invitation. "I think it's going to be the most inspiring and for me personally the most humbling experience, could be of my lifetime, and I hope we have a million people there to honor our troops. I'm just so absolutely thrilled that you invited me and I wouldn't miss it for the world," Palin said.
