Joe Miller: THE only conservative choice for Alaska

The following letter from US Senate candidate Joe Miller delineates the stark differences between Lisa Murkowski and Miller, both of whom are running on the GOP ticket. Governor Palin endorsed Joe Miller, because he is a true Reagan Conservative. US for Palin followed suit and endorsed Joe Miller's campaign.

Lisa Murkowski is a RINO. This letter, provided courtesy of Tracey Porreca explains why in great detail.
June 27, 2010

Dear Fellow Republicans:

Recently the Murkowski campaign circulated an email through the Alaska Republican Party asserting that “political operatives are mischaracterizing Lisa’s record [and] some of these claims are outright lies.” We wanted to assure Party members, and the Murkowski camp, that our campaign has not engaged in such behavior. We decided to look into the charges, and here is what we found. It turns out that they were responding to emails being circulated by concerned citizens acting of their own accord. They were not being directed to do anything by Joe Miller for US Senate. Some of the material being circulated may have originated with us, but we were unable to decipher what material may have come from us, and what did not, since the specifics of what the Murkowski campaign was responding to is still somewhat in doubt.

However, we would like to take this opportunity to set the record straight as to what it is that we are saying. It is clear to us that by any objective measure, Senator Murkowski is not a conservative and her record will bear that out. Her campaign has insisted that “Lisa is well known for her conservative voting record.” Rather than engage in a “he said – she said” moment, let's take a look at what the conservatives inside the beltway have concluded, based upon her voting record and their observation.

The American Conservative Union (Lifetime) – 70.19%
Freedom Works – 50%
Human Events – Top Five RINO's in the United States Senate
National Taxpayer's Union (Lifetime) – 63%
Citizens Against Government Waste (Lifetime) – 54%
Senate Conservatives Fund (2008) – 50%
Eagle Forum – 63%
American Family Association – 33%
Family Research Council – 55%

The aforementioned letter states, “She [Murkowski] recently led efforts to stop the massive power-grab by the EPA which President Obama threatened to Veto.” The Senator's EPA Amendment is well-rehearsed and we applaud her for her attempt to stop this naked power grab, but we should be clear about what the Amendment would, and would not, have done. Following is Senator Murkowski's own statement about her EPA Amendment delivered to The Council on Competitiveness' National Energy Summit and International Dialogue on September 23, 2009:
"Since my amendment has stirred a bit of controversy, I want to take a second to 'clear the air'. My amendment would not stop this process forever - it would simply give Congress a year to debate climate policies and determine the best approach for reducing emissions. Given that no climate bill would take effect before 2012, my amendment would not slow down or detract from the overall process. And given that almost everyone involved in the climate debate prefers legislation to regulation, I'm hopeful that it will draw enough votes to pass. I am equally hopeful that the climate debate, without the cloud of economically harmful EPA regulations hanging over it, can move forwards toward a bill that can pass the Senate. I want my colleagues and constituents to know that I'm serious about climate change . . .”
Further, it has been asserted that “[Senator Murkowski] has an A+ rating from the NRA.” We would point out that the Senator has demonstrated marked improvement in this area, considering her D rating with the NRA while in the Alaska State House, but she is still labeled a “pro-gun compromiser” by Gun Owners of America.

As to the Senator's opposition to tax increases, we would not deny that she has opposed some tax increases, but has certainly not opposed them across the board. She voted against the 2008 Bush Tax Rebates, against multiple points of order requiring a super-majority to raise taxes, voted in favor of tobacco tax increases, and is currently entertaining the possibility of a new carbon tax on emissions.

It has also been asserted that the Senator has voted to fully repeal, and “unequivocally supports the repeal of Obama Care.” But it should be pointed out that the “repeal” vote took place before the reconciliation bill actually passed. Five days after the reconciliation bill passed, the Senator said “repealing [Obamacare] is not the answer in my opinion . . .” You can view, or read it, here: (Feds overreaching on health care, energy, Murkowski says). It should not be difficult to see why we are somewhat confused as to where she really stands on the issue.

As to the claim that “Senator Lisa Murkowski opposes Big Government, Government Spending, Government Bailouts, Government Takeover, and Deficit Spending,” we can only refer you to the record.

Voting for the largest new entitlement program in a generation (Medicare, Part D), in addition to unwarranted federal health care expansions (SCHIP/CHIPRA) that even the big-spending President George W. Bush vetoed on the grounds that it was “a move toward socialized medicine,” is hardly an effective way to prove your opposition to Big Government.

Voting against the majority of your Republican colleagues on six excessive Appropriations packages just in the last year is not a convincing argument against Government Spending.

Voting for TARP (Big Bank and Wall Street) bailouts, voting to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and voting to protect the Obama Administration's plan for a $108B slush fund for International bailouts does not make a persuasive case for opposition to Government Bailouts. It should also be also be pointed out that the Senator's campaign operatives would have us applaud her for attempting to clean up her own mess (TARP). One might say, 'she actually voted for it . . . before she voted against it.' Does she really get credit for a failed attempt to fix what she broke herself? Really?

Without even going further, which could be done at some length, the aforementioned votes prove conclusively that the Senator is not serious about curbing deficit spending.

On the illegal immigration front, it is an ineluctable fact that the Senator voted for Amnesty in 2006, and against a border security amendment taken in December of 2009 that would have required the southern border fence (physical barrier, not a virtual fence that is virtually porous) to be finished by December 2010. If the Senator is such an advocate for the conservative position on illegal immigration, why did she vote for the amnesty bill in 2006 and vote to take up the bill again in 2007? Why did she have to be strong-armed into voting no on cloture in 2007? Why has US Border Control only given her a 33% score for her stance on border issues?

And finally, “as Alaska’s US Senator, Lisa Murkowski opposes the use of federal funds for abortions.” While we accuse nobody of lying, this statement simply does not accord with her record. We need go no further than the Anchorage Daily News last week, where it was reported that 662 abortions were funded through Denali Kid Care: (KidCare funded 664 'medically necessary' abortions in '09). That is the Senator's CHIPRA vote at work.

She has voted no less than four times for repeal, or against reinstatement, of the “Mexico City Policy” put in place by President Reagan to bar Federal dollars from foreign non-governmental organizations that provide or promote abortions.

I would also point to Senator Murkowski's unequivocal statement in voting for a sense of the Senate Amendment that reads as follows:

“It is the sense of the Senate that--

the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade

was appropriate and secures an important constitutional right;

and such decision should not be overturned.”

The Senator has been named a Wish List Star. The Wish List is a pro-choice organization whose mission is stated as follows: “The WISH List raises funds to identify, support and elect pro-choice Republican women.” You can visit the website here: The WISH List.

While one can argue about votes, we would encourage inquiring minds to consult our website where there are links to many of Senator Murkowski's votes. Feel free to contact the campaign; we would be happy to assist you with information you might need to make an informed decision on this crucial race.

While we understand that tensions are high in an election cycle, it is incumbent upon us all to take a deep breath and look at the facts. This is not finally about personalities, it is about the future of the greatest nation on earth. We are committed to running a clean campaign. We invite the Senator to debate the issues, and we will do our part to keep it civil.

All the Best,

Memories of the Fourth of July

-from Patrick's World USA

Last Fourth of July reminded me of being at a barbecue at my uncle's house in 1980. It was the final year of the Jimmy Carter years and my first real recollection of having a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach about the state of my country. I was 16 going on 17 at the time. Charlie Daniels had a song out, America. I had been headed toward conservatism in the years leading up to this time, but I mark this song as the first time I officially considered myself "a patriot no matter what."

I still get chills when I listen to the song, especially now that it captures the same feeling today during the Obama years as it did during the Carter years. My country is a strong and proud nation. It has done great things. It has survived the Civil War, Pearl Harbor and WW II, the Cold War and 9/11. It has also come through some rough political times as well such as the late 1960's, the late 1970's and now the late 2000's. We have this uncanny ability to fall asleep at the wheel yet wake up just in time to keep the car from crashing into the guard rail. I know we can do it again.

In 1980, I shot my fireworks off at make believe Soviet divisions in Afghanistan. And despite my disgust at the Carter administration, I believed in the American people. I believed we would get the bum out of office. And we did. Five years later, it was morning in America. I graduated college and went wide-eyed into a world with unlimited potential. The economy was cranking, the job market was great and we were militarily strong. The Soviet Union was on the brink of collapse. What happened to that? Where did that go?

I cry about now, but  I know we have it in us to make it that way again.

In 1986, I was outside with friends shooting off fireworks. I had to go to the bathroom so I went in my house. Ronald Reagan just started giving his "Statue of Liberty" speech. I sat with my parents for entire speech, hiding the tears that started streaming down my cheeks as I beamed with pride and joy over my great nation and the great man who now led it. All was well with the world. God that felt great.

The Fourth of July following 9/11 was a defiant one. I was on my in-law's at the time boat and we were on the lake as the fireworks display started. I felt good because I knew we were taking action in Afghanistan and that George W. Bush had America's back. I knew we would not falter and we would not fail. I still felt good about America. I was not a Bill Clinton fan by far, but I thanked my lucky stars that he listened to Newt Gingrich and signed off on the Contract For America.

Last year was the roughest Fourth of Julys I can ever remember.  I had my Palin shirt, my Gadsden flag and a cooler full of cold beer and good food all ready. Even though it was the beginning of the Obama years, I wasn't going to let his America - a lackluster apologetic weak excuse of a nation - interfere with my celebration of my America - the shining city on a hill. It was going to be my way of declaring Sarah Palin as my real leader and the successor in my heart to Ronald Reagan. I was at Virginia Beach when a friend of mine called me on the beach to tell me that Sarah Palin had resigned.

When I went up to the deck, Stuart Varney replayed Sarah Palin's speech on Fox News. I watched stunned as the pundits talked about a possible FBI investigation and how the frivolous ethics violations had cost her and the state of Alaska a fortune. I was alone in the wilderness. Obama was leading my country off a cliff and my leader just stepped down from her position of power. I felt like I wanted to throw up.

There was a 5 minute period during the entire time I was at my friend's condo when his son was not on the laptop, so I read everything I could about her resignation the next morning which was July 4, 2009.

Sarah Palin called her minions in off the ledge with a tweet (link no longer available - emphasis is mine): "Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr in office to not run again...." On her Facebook page, she wrote (emphasis is again mine):
I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!
She put her resignation speech on her Facebook page underneath the headline which included these words: "it is good, stay tuned." I read the speech and this line jumped out at me (emphasis not mine - Sarah capitalized the word TRUST):
I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision; all I can ask is that you TRUST me with this decision - but it's no more "politics as usual".
I'm a political science guy who was taught from the textbook in college. It would have been easy to draw a conclusion that she was done. A friend told me it was her "Checkers" speech. It would have been just as easy to get off the emotional rollercoaster of being a Sarah Palin fan at that point. But she said the right words when she was talking to her fans. She was talking to us. She was talking to me. She was asking me to hang in, join her, TRUST her. And like I did before when the media lies were going un-debunked before the Palinista presence we have on the web today, I decided to listen to her.

I wrote:
Take a deep breath. There are 3 1/2 years left until the 2012 presidential election. A lot can happen. Sarah Palin holds the answer. Whether it works or not is totally up to her now. With more freedom to control her brand, her future will no longer be in the hands of an unchecked hostile media that spreads lies about her.

We will be participants in a future political science lesson that has yet to reveal its answer to us.
I deferred the future to Sarah, knowing that the only way to explain the resignation could not be done until after the fact. Now that it is after the fact, I can explain it. I also know that I was right to trust her.

I put on my Sarah Palin shirt last Fourth of July and flew that Gadsden flag that day. When someone commented on my shirt "looks like your girl's in trouble," I hid my concern and simply told him, "nah, she's just getting ready to run in 2012."

Now that the emotion and the uncertainty of last year's Fourth of July is over. Let's do this again right this time. I'm wearing the shirt again this year and this time I'm really going to enjoy it.

It's a year since Sarah resigned. Since then she has made over $12 million dollars and her PAC has donated tens of thousands to political campaigns across the country. She is a best selling author, Fox News contributor, professional speaker and a documentarian. Did I mention she's in the top tier of contenders for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012? Resignation, smesignation.

In 2010, I will shoot off my fireworks off at make believe Taliban and al Qaeda strongholds in Afghanistan. And despite my disgust at the Obama administration, I believe in the American people. I believe we will get the bum out of office. Five years from now, it will be morning in America. And kids who weren't alive when Reagan was president will be able to graduate college and go wide-eyed into a world with unlimited potential. The economy will be cranking, the job market will be great and we will be militarily strong. The terrorists will be on the brink of collapse.

It will be morning in America again. Sarah Palin will give her "Statue of Liberty" speech and we will beam with pride and joy over our great nation and the great woman who will be leading it.

Conservative New Media Further Exposes Palin Protesters

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

After last night's post contrasting the light of pro-Palin patriots with the anger of anti-Palin protesters in California when the Governor visited to help raise money for CSU Stanislaus, I was contacted by Paul Villarreal of Conservative New Media who did the video that you see in the post. He read the article on C4P and wanted to shed further light. Without the need to overtly call out the protesters' foolishness, the interviewer certainly captured it, and easily captured, also, the civility and patriotism of Governor Palin's supporters who were well-able to articulate the reasons they stand so vehemently in her corner.

I will let Paul speak for himself. He wrote:

Hi, this is Paul F. Villarreal of Conservative New Media (CNM) and I asked Adrienne Ross if I could add a few words to her excellent write-up here of what took place on the campus of CSU Stanislaus during Sarah's Palin's very successful visit. Adrienne graciously accepted and so I want to share with the C4P readers a bit more alleged information that came to our attention following the shooting of the video posted here as well as some thoughts on the tactics being used by the anti-Palin protesters at Stanislaus and where we have seen such methods previously and how to spot and counteract them.

On the Tuesday following Sarah's visit, John co-hosted the Dave Diamond radio program on KFIV 1360 in Modesto, California (very close to Turlock, where Sarah spoke). During this stint, John was told by both the third man in the booth as well as a caller who had attended the Palin speech and also interviewed the Palin protesters that at least one group among those who had gathered to spew their vitriol toward Sarah were members of a presumably local Teamsters union.

I cannot verify this information independently at this time. The caller who interviewed the protesters himself said that the supposed Teamsters told him this information directly, and that the alleged Teamster members were let out of work early on Friday with the explicit understanding that they were to head down straight from work and protest Palin.

For the purposes of the rest of my comments, I will assume that this information is true, and that a core chunk of those who seemingly mindlessly ranted against Sarah, "the rich" and other strawmen at Stanislaus on Friday were, indeed, union members.

The Teamsters are a notoriously corrupt outfit with deep historical ties to disgraced criminal Jimmy Hoffa as well as the ethically-compromised city of Chicago.

What stuck out most, though, in watching the footage were the tactics of what I will presume are the young men who are union members some time around the middle of the video. Their aggressiveness -- at first appearing illogical but then seeming to fit the profile of the strategic Saul Alinsky disciple -- reminded both John and I, and probably many C4P readers, of other Obama-friendly hatchet men from the 2008 campaign.

For several years now, CNM has come under sustained assault from Obama-friendly astroturfers and left-wing flaks. We are thoroughly familiar with their methods, including those of the "goon squad" groups which seemed to constitute a core of the anti-Palin protesters.

In my opinion, the methods being used by the presumed young Teamster union men in the video fit a very specific profile of agitators and bullies. These are the kinds of people and tactics, I feel, which were employed when Kenneth Gladney was beaten up in Missouri by apparent SEIU members. These are the kinds of methods which were used against average Americans who opposed ObamaCare and voiced their concerns at town hall meetings, and finally, these are the kinds of people and means which have marked the left's hysterical campaign attempting to marginalize Sarah Palin and make her permanently "off limits" to most Americans.

The hallmark of these agitators is their rabid, almost incoherent, chanting and demeanor. The goal is to elicit an emotional response both from fellow protesters and from the opponent, in this case the pro-Palin crowd outside the Stanislaus event.

To this end, initiating mindless chants such as "Eat the rich!" is not the work of unsophisticated protesters but is, instead, a very targeted tactic intended to draw out the anger and hatred of the anti-Palin side and also seek to provoke a kind-of fear response in the pro-Palin protesters. It is the supposed lack of coherence of the chant, that is, which is designed to make the pro-Palin crowd come to a kind of helpless psychological response along the lines of "Wow, these people are so angry and full of rage that even though they are rambling idiotic phrases, I guess they really feel passionately about hating Sarah Palin and I definitely don't want to mess with them. Maybe I should just kind of back off here and kind of accept this Palin hate. I don't want any kind of confrontation."

This technique is often referred to as the "Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt" method. CNM actually made a simple video about this some time ago which you can watch here and you can read more about the FUD approach towards engagement and interpersonal dynamics here.

In watching and re-watching the footage, I am convinced that the young men at the heart of the anti-Palin vitriol are, in fact, union members and I am also fairly certain that the tactics which they used fit into the Saul Alinsky/FUD playbook.

You will never see these kinds of hate purveyors of the left featured in traditional LSM outlets. Sad to say, many media personalities, I feel, secretly appreciate these goon squads because their tactics, as the young pro-Palin woman in the video mentions, work. The many members of the media who detest Palin and support Obama, I believe, appreciate the "clearing out" function which shady outfits like the Teamsters provide because that makes the enactment of the left's radical agenda that much easier to achieve.

For those who support Palin, however, and even just for non-ideological Americans who want to see politics rise above the sum total of advertising methods and partisan pop-psychology hackery such as the FUD method being used by Saul Alinsky types, it is essential to know who your adversary is and just what kind of tactics are being employed. The would-be bully standing across from you at a Palin rally might look and sound like a naive Neanderthal, but it is our experience that they are often anything but, and their methods have to be countered.

I believe that the men in the video which Adrienne posted are a good representation of what Sarah and her supporters will face from now until Sarah is potentially elected President, should she run, in 2012. The left knows they must not allow Sarah any room to breathe, so to speak, and so they will continue to mobilize their most-extreme elements in a desperate scorched-earth campaign to take down Sarah at any cost.

It is our responsibility, as Palin supporters and patriots, to meet such people out on the political battlefield--and to defeat them as often and as widely as we can, in peaceful and concerted ways.

Thank you again, Adrienne and C4P, for allowing me to share my thoughts on this footage and event, and I hope everyone here has a terrific Independence Day Weekend.

Paul F. Villarreal
Conservative New Media

We're in a battle against an enemy that wants to annihilate. The only way to win is to know what we're dealing with and expose those tactics time and time again. Governor Palin's supporters will not be ignorant of the despicable devices used against her. I thank Mr. Villarreal and CNM for being among the good guys who stand for truth.

Sarah Palin Lays Out Her Aggressive Agenda For National Security, Liberty, Freedom, And The American Way .... Video Included

By Gary P Jackson

Speaking at Freedom Fest in Norfolk, Virginia Sarah Palin laid out her very aggressive agenda for the nation. This is a powerful indictment of the Obama regime, and the corrupt "lamestream media" as well.

Fresh from her speech at California State University, at Stanislaus, where she spoke of American exceptionalism, and the need to get back to the basics in education, and raised more money for the university than any other speaker in history, Sarah came to Virginia ready to take on the big issues that we face.

With every passing speech, every new appearance, Sarah Palin looks more powerful, more in control, and more presidential. This is a compelling speech, where she implores the American people not to settle for second best. She tells us not to allow Barack Obama and his minions get away with saying America’s finest hours are behind us, and that we are just another nation among nations. Don’t let Obama and the rest of the Marxist-democrats tell you America is not the greatest force for good the world has ever known.

Sarah implores us not to just say "no," to the Obama agenda, but "Hell No!"

Here’s video of the speech:

Below is a partial transcript Sarah released today via her Facebook blog:

Peace Through Strength and American Pride vs. "Enemy-Centric" Policy

Earlier this week, I spoke at the Freedom Fest in Norfolk, Virginia; and, evidently, the media was asked to leave – not by me, that’s for sure. I want my message out, so despite reporters making up a story about "Palin people kicking us out" (uh, the "Palin people" entourage would consist of one person – my 15-year-old daughter, Willow – and I have no doubt she could take on any reporter, but I know for certain she didn’t "kick ‘em out" of the event). Anyway, here are some of the key issues I spoke about.

DEFENSE SPENDING

It takes a lot of resources to maintain the best fighting force in the world – especially at a time when we face financial uncertainty and a mountain of debt that threatens all of our futures.

We have a federal government that is spending trillions, and that has nationalized whole sections of our economy: the auto industry, the insurance industry, health care, student loans, the list goes on – all of it at enormous cost to the tax payer. The cost of Obamacare alone is likely to exceed $2.5 trillion dollars.

As a result of all these trillion dollar spending bills, America’s going bust in a hurry. By 2020 we may reach debt levels of $20 trillion – twice the debt that we have today! It reminds me of that joke I read the other day: "Please don’t tell Obama what comes after a trillion!"

Something has to be done urgently to stop the out of control Obama-Reid-Pelosi spending machine, and no government agency should be immune from budget scrutiny. We must make sure, however, that we do nothing to undermine the effectiveness of our military. If we lose wars, if we lose the ability to deter adversaries, if we lose the ability to provide security for ourselves and for our allies, we risk losing all that makes America great! That is a price we cannot afford to pay.

This may be obvious to you and me, but I am not sure the Obama Administration gets it. There isn’t a single progressive pet cause which they haven’t been willing to throw billions at. But when it comes to defense spending, all of a sudden they start preaching a message of "fiscal restraint." Our Defense Secretary recently stated the "gusher" of defense spending was over and that it was time for the Department of Defense to tighten its belt. There’s a gusher of spending alright, but it’s not on defense. Did you know the US actually only ranks 25th worldwide on defense spending as a percentage of GDP? We spend three times more on entitlements and debt services than we do on defense.

Now don’t get me wrong: there’s nothing wrong with preaching fiscal conservatism. I want the federal government to balance its budget right now! And not the Washington way – which is raising your taxes to pay for their irresponsible spending habits. I want it done the American way: by cutting spending, reducing the size of government, and letting people keep more of their hard-earned cash.

But the Obama administration doesn’t practice what it preaches. This is an administration that won’t produce a budget for fear that we discover how reckless they’ve been as fiscal managers. At the same time, it threatens to veto a defense bill because of an extra jet engine!

This administration may be willing to cut defense spending, but it’s increasing it everywhere else. I think we should do it the other way round: cut spending in other departments – apart from defense. We should not be cutting corners on our national security.

THE U.S. NAVY

Secretary Gates recently spoke about the future of the US Navy. He said we have to "ask whether the nation can really afford a Navy that relies on $3 to $6 billion destroyers, $7 billion submarines, and $11 billion carriers." He went on to ask, "Do we really need... more strike groups for another 30 years when no other country has more than one?"

Well, my answer is pretty simple: Yes, we can and, yes, we do because we must. Our Navy has global responsibilities. It patrols sea lanes and safeguards the freedoms of our allies – and ourselves. The Navy right now only has 286 ships, and that number may decrease. That will limit our options, extend tours for Navy personnel, lessen our ability to secure our allies and deter our adversaries. The Obama administration seems strangely unconcerned about this prospect.

OBAMA’S FOREIGN POLICY INHERITANCE

When George W. Bush came into office, he inherited a military that had been cut deeply, an al Qaeda that had been unchallenged, and an approach to terrorism that focused on bringing court cases rather than destroying those who sought to destroy us. We saw the result of some of that on 9/11.

When President Obama came into office, he inherited a military that was winning in Iraq. He inherited loyal allies and strong alliances. And thanks to the lamestream media pawing and purring over him, he had the benefit of unparalleled global popularity. What an advantage! So their basic foreign policy outlines should have been clear. Commit to the War on Terror. Commit to winning – not ending, but winning the war in Afghanistan. Commit to the fight against violent Islamic extremism wherever it finds sanctuary. Work with our allies. Be resolute with our adversaries. Promote liberty, not least because it enhances our security. Unfortunately, these basic principles seem to have been discarded by Washington.

THE WAR ON TERROR

His administration has banned the phrase "war on terror," preferring instead politically correct nonsense like "overseas contingency operations." His Homeland Security Secretary calls acts of terrorism "man-caused disasters." His reckless plan to close Guantanamo (because there’s no place to go after it’s closed) faces bipartisan opposition now.

The Attorney General just announced that a decision about where to try terrorists like 9/11 master mind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would not be announced until after the mid-term elections. Is there something he’s afraid to tell us?

The President’s new National Security Strategy does not even use the word "Islamic" when referring to violent extremism. Does he think the ideology of those who seek to kill Americans is irrelevant? How can we seek to defeat an enemy if we don’t acknowledge what motivates them and what their ultimate goals are? President Obama may think he is being politically correct by dropping the term, but it flies in the face of reality. As Senator Joe Lieberman noted, refusing to use the word Islamic when describing the nature of the threat we face is "Orwellian and counterproductive."

AFGHANISTAN

In Afghanistan, it is true that President Obama approved deploying additional forces to the conflict – most, but not all the troops requested by commanders on the ground. But it took months of indecision to get to that point, and it came at a very high price – a July 2011 date to begin withdrawal.

This date was arbitrary! It bears no relation to conditions on the ground. It sends all the wrong signals to our friends and to our enemies. We know our commanders on the ground are not comfortable with it.

As that great Navy war hero, Senator John McCain recently put it: "The decision to begin withdrawing our forces from Afghanistan arbitrarily in July 2011 seems to be having exactly the effect that many of us predicted it would: It is convincing the key actors inside and outside of Afghanistan that the United States is more interested in leaving than succeeding in this conflict."

Does the President really believe the Taliban and al Qaeda won’t be empowered by his naming of a starting date for withdrawal? They now believe they can beat him simply by outlasting us. What sort of effect does he think this will have on the morale of our troops – and of our allies?

ALIENATING OUR ALLIES

It’s not the only area where the Obama administration has failed our allies. They escalated a minor zoning issue in Jerusalem into a major dispute with our most important ally in the Middle East, Israel. They treated the Israeli Prime Minister shabbily in Washington. When a Turkish sponsored flotilla threatened to violate a legal Israeli blockade of Hamas-run Gaza, the Obama Administration was silent. When Israeli commandos were assaulted as they sought to prevent unmonitored cargoes from being delivered to Hamas terrorists, the Obama Administration sent signals it might allow a UN investigation into the matter – an investigation that would be sure to condemn our ally Israel and bemoan the plight of Hamas. Loyal NATO allies in central Europe were undermined by the cancellation of a missile defense program with virtually no warning. At the same time, Russia and China are given preferential treatment, while remaining silent on their human rights violations.

CODDLING ADVERSARIES

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration reaches out to some of the world’s worst regimes. They shake hands with dictators like Hugo Chavez, send letters to the Iranian mullahs and envoys to North Korea, ease sanctions on Cuba and talk about doing the same with Burma. That’s when they’re not on one of their worldwide apology tours.

Do we get anything in return for all this bowing and apologizing? No, we don’t. Yes, Russia voted for a weak sanctions resolution on Iran, but it immediately stated it could sell advanced anti-aircraft missile to Iran anyway, and would not end its nuclear cooperation. In response to North Korea’s unprovoked sinking of a South Korean Navy ship, China warned us not to take part in military exercises with our ally.

And while President Obama lets America get pushed around by the likes of Russia and China, our allies are left to wonder about the value of an alliance with the U.S. They have to be wondering if it’s worth it.

AN "ENEMY-CENTRIC" FOREIGN POLICY

It has led one prominent Czech official to call Obama’s foreign policy "enemy-centric." And this "enemy-centric" approach has real consequences. It not only baffles our allies, it worries them. When coupled with less defense spending, it signals to the world that maybe we can no longer be counted on, and that we have other priorities than being the world leader that keeps the peace and provides security in Europe, in Asia and throughout the world.

Together with this enemy-centric foreign policy, we see a lessening of the long, bipartisan tradition of speaking out for human rights and democracy. The Secretary of State said she would not raise human rights with China because "we pretty much know what they are going to say." Democracy promotion programs have been cut. Support for the brave Iranians protesting their government was not forthcoming because President Obama would rather try to cut a deal with their oppressors.

When the world’s dictators see the United States unconcerned with human rights and political freedom, they breathe a sigh of relief, because they know they have a free hand to repress their own people.

This goes against the very ideals on which our republic was founded. There is a long bipartisan tradition of speaking out in favor of freedom – from FDR to Ronald Reagan. America loses something very important when its President consigns human rights and freedom to the back burner of its international priorities.

A DIFFERENT VIEW OF AMERICA

We have a President, perhaps for the very first time since the founding of our republic, who doesn’t appear to believe that America is the greatest earthly force for good the world has ever known.

When asked whether he believed in American exceptionalism, President Obama answered, "I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism." Amazing. Amazing.

I think this statement speaks volumes about his world view. He sees nothing unique in the American experience? Really? Our founding, and our founding mothers and fathers? Really? And our history over the past two and half centuries?

Really? He sees nothing unique in an America that fought and won two world wars and in victory sought not one inch of territory or one dollar of plunder? He sees nothing unique in an America that, though exhausted by conflict, still laid the foundation for security in Europe and Asia after World War II? He sees nothing unique in an America that prevailed against an evil ideology in the Cold War? Does he just see a country that has to be apologized for around the world, especially to dictators?

President Obama actually seems reluctant to even embrace American power. Earlier this year when he was asked about his faltering Middle East peace process, he said "whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower." Whether we like it or not?! Really? Mr. President, this may come as news to you, but most Americans actually do like it. And so do our allies. They know it was our military might that liberated countless millions from tyranny, slavery, and oppression over the last 234 years. Yes, we do like it. As a dominant superpower, the United States has won wars hot and cold; our military has advanced the cause of freedom and kept authoritarian powers in check.

It is in America’s and the world’s best interests for our country to remain the dominant military superpower, but under President Obama’s leadership that dominance may be slipping away. It’s the result of an agenda that reeks of complacency and defeatism.

(I went on from there to talk about our need to end the negative, defeatist attitudes of those in leadership. I spoke further on American exceptionalism, and Willow and I ended a great evening with some great patriots. Sorry the media chose to report anything other than what actually happened at the event.)

- Sarah Palin

I want to address the question of this blogger, who none of us has ever heard of, but indeed has a blog, that claims he was kicked out of Freedom Fest after a few minutes of blogging Sarah’s speech.

Now we find that rather a dubious claim on many levels. People live blog from pretty much every speech Sarah gives, especially events like this. People park on Twitter waiting anxiously for every quote, every tidbit of information about the event, hungry for all things Palin.

Another thing, this blogger claims he was invited by one of the event sponsors to cover this deal, and was credentialed. I’ve been to a lot of events, and credentialed media is rarely hassled. Past that, if the guy was there at the behest of a sponsor, how hard would it have been to drop a name or two? (It’s always worked for us!)

Some have suggested that maybe an outsider, posing as an event official, an "agent provocateur" may have wondered in to cause trouble, but that’s getting out there where the buses don’t run.

The thing that makes us really doubt this blogger’s story is the fact that video, clearly shot from someone in the audience, exists. If they were kicking out fully credentialed and somewhat "official" bloggers, how did the video posted by "Daily Press News" come into being?

Inquiring minds want to know.

You’ll read more about this in the coming days I’m sure, but as Stacy Drake wrote in her latest offering, this is all about stealing the headlines away from what Sarah actually has to say, the substance, and mis-directing you somewhere else.

There are a whole lot of people both Marxist-democrats, and establishment Republicans, who would just as soon you didn’t pay attention to Sarah Palin and her strong message. They just as soon you forget she is one of the few real leaders this nation has.

Sarah Palin is a real leader, a strong leader, and a proven reformer. This scares the hell out of both the corrupt Marxist-democrats, as well the corrupt establishment Republicans. In fact, she may scare the corrupt Republicans more, because they know what she did to the Alaskan Republicans and Governor Frank Murkowski’s "Corrupt Bastards Club."

Our best advice when it comes to Sarah Palin, is to pay attention to what this magnificent woman says, and ignore the spectacle that those who don’t have America’s best interest at heart, make of themselves, trying to get you to ignore her!

Oh Noes! Sarah Palin Is Human!

By Gary P Jackson

Yes, yes, I know when we see Sarah Palin we see a strong, powerful woman. We see a warrior. A woman who takes no prisoners and gives no quarter. We see an accomplished leader with an incredible record of reforming and streamlining government.

Knowing all if this, and much more, it’s sometimes easy to forget she’s only human. Yes Sarah, like the rest of us, is capable of making mistakes, especially when speaking off the cuff. Having done it for years, I can tell ya, it ain't as easy as it looks.

It seems that when Sarah visited California State University at Stanislaus last week, she miss-spoke while talking about her hero, and mine, Ronald Reagan. During her speech, while talking about Reagan, small town values, and trying to tie that together with the fact Reagan moved to California, and how that shaped him, she got ahead of herself. Sarah was talking about Eureka College, which of course is in Illinois, but it came out "Eureka, California" as you’ll see in the video below:

Now obviously, as a student of Ronald Reagan, Sarah knows he went to Eureka College in ILLINOIS. How do I know this for a fact? Well it’s easy, not that long ago Sarah was in Illinois, speaking at Five Points Washington.

Karen McDonald from Peoria’s Journal Star reported at the time:

Palin commented on the Land of Lincoln having a "most diverse political scene" and referenced the "Will it play in Peoria?" cliche.

"Nobody here is ordinary. ... Much of the eyes of America are on this part of our nation because this is a representation of good, hard-working, grounded, unpretentious, patriotic Americans," she said.

One of those people, Palin said, is former President Ronald Reagan, a Eureka College graduate, who believed in limited government in order to expand opportunity and prosperity. Reagan was a Midwestern boy who understood the importance of work ethic, not entitlement, she said.

"We need a dose of that Midwestern common sense now more than ever," Palin said.

John Morris, director of development for the Ronald W. Reagan Leadership Program and Ronald Reagan Museum at Eureka College, said remarks about the college by a potential Republican candidate for president in 2012 are "thrilling."

"Eureka College is a national living legacy to this story that in America you can come from anywhere and with the right values you can go on to help change the world. Eureka College is the living legacy to the story of Ronald Reagan," Morris said.

You can read the entire article here.

Now that should be that, end of story, but of course, it isn’t.

Evidently the left wing in this country is just as shocked as we are to find out that Sarah Palin is indeed human, and capable of miss-speaking. Now I get that, considering she has been kicking their tails from one end of this country to the other for the last year or more.

The woman has laid bare their Dear Leader for all to see. She’s exposed Obama for what he is: a corrupt, Chicago street thug, and nothing more.

So shocked are the Marxist-progressives to learn Sarah Palin, their  bête noire, is but a mere mortal, they can’t stop talking about her gaffe. It’s understandable.

Of course, it just might be a bit of misdirection on their part. You see for all of the insanity, brought on by the left before her incredible speech that night, in the end, Sarah Palin raised more money than any speaker in CSU Stanislaus history!

After the dust settled, and all bills were paid, the university netted $200,000. That’s big money in anyone’s book, and again, a record for the university.

Now this is Northern California. The university, which is located in Turlock, is less than 100 miles from San Francisco. I mean this is right in the belly of the communist beast! This is serious business.

How would the Marxists in San Francisco ever be able to explain how that moose huntin’ hockey mom from Wasilla, Alaska was such a hit in own their backyard?

Think about it. If Sarah Palin can raise more money than any speakier in history, in the shadow of the most Marxist-progressive city in the country, that means come 2012, Barack Obama wouldn’t have a prayer against her in the state, IF (more like when) she runs for President.

One can only imagine the cold sweats Marxists all over the country broke out in once they realized this.

Now this is before we even talk about the speech itself! A lot has been made about the "reporters" caught on tape after the speech, but again, that’s just mis-direction. The radicals will do absolutely anything to keep you from actually listening to Sarah Palin’s words.

This was a great speech. Different than some of her latest. She wasn’t there to rip Obama apart, she would do that the next night in Tyler, Texas and over the weekend in Virginia! No, this was a speech about American values, American exceptionalism, and the need to get back to the basics in education. Three more things that make the left break out in a cold sweat.

So .... it’s kinda understandable that the Marxists and their media partners would make a big deal out of all of this. They absolutely must take your mind off the fact that Sarah Palin kicks ass!

Of course, the Dear Leader, Captain Kick Ass, and his lovable side kick, Vice President Smart Ass would never screw up, ever .... or would they.

Here Obama says he’s been to 57 states, with one, possibly two, that he wasn’t allowed to see.

Here’s the most gifted speaker that ever breathed not only speaking rather incoherently, because he was working without his trusty TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States) by his side, but also claiming a child, suffering from an asthma attack, needs a breathalyzer for treatment. In all fairness, after stumbling, he gets it right, but this still makes for great TV!

And who could forget when this genius claimed that doctors were taking out children’s tonsils to make more money.

Even better, here he accuses doctors of allowing obese people to become diabetics, so at some point, they can make $30,000 .... $40,000 .... or possibly $50,000 by amputating their feet!

According to Cheryl Clark, at HealthLeaders Media:

"President Obama got his facts completely wrong," according to a statement from the ACS, whose 74,000 members make it the largest organization of surgeons in the world.

"In fact, Medicare pays a surgeon between $740 and $1,140 for a leg amputation," sais ACS, which is care that includes evaluation of the patient the day of the operation and follow-up care that is provided for 90 days after the operation.

Private insurers pay a variation of the same amount, said the group, adding that it is "deeply disturbed" over the President's "uninformed public comments."

Of course who could forget that Obama thinks people in Austria speak "Austrian" (about 1:33 in)

For the record, Austrians speak German!

Here’s another classic from the Harvard educated President. Obama thinks Europe is a country!

Now right about now, any left wingers reading this are going to shout: "Oh yeah! Well that crazy moose lady didn’t know Africa was a continent .... So there!"

On thing wrong with that, as Frank James noted in the Chicago Tribune, on November 13, 2008, a whole bunch of people, including Fox New’s "Campaign Carl" Cameron, owe Sarah Palin a HUGE apology. (Of course, as of this writing, June 29, 2010, she is still waiting for it)

You see the whole thing was a HOAX uncovered by, of all places, the New York Times!

It was among the juicier post-election recriminations: Fox News Channel quoted an unnamed McCain campaign figure as saying that Sarah Palin did not know that Africa was a continent.

Who would say such a thing? On Monday the answer popped up on a blog and popped out of the mouth of David Shuster, an MSNBC anchor. "Turns out it was Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, who has come forward today to identify himself as the source of the leaks," Mr. Shuster said.

Trouble is, Martin Eisenstadt doesn't exist. His blog does, but it's a put-on. The think tank where he is a senior fellow -- the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy -- is just a Web site. The TV clips of him on YouTube are fakes.

And the claim of credit for the Africa anecdote is just the latest ruse by Eisenstadt, who turns out to be a very elaborate hoax that has been going on for months. MSNBC, which quickly corrected the mistake, has plenty of company in being taken in by an Eisenstadt hoax, including The New Republic and The Los Angeles Times.

BTW, "Martin Eisenstadt" was the source of a few more BS stories about Sarah, including the one about her greeting people in a bathrobe at her hotel. It’s sad enough the media fell for the Africa story, but as anyone with any amount of experience, or has ever seen a movie or TV show, would know, the Secret Service would never allow a protectee to open their own door, especially not in a hotel.

Now I promised you some Joe Biden, and God love the man, if we tried to show you all of Joe in his gaffetastic splendor, I fear our servers would explode, so here’s just a few of the thousands that will live on as classics forever.

First off, remember the Vice Presidential debate? The moderator Gwyn Ifel, alluding to the fact that Dick Cheney had been a strong Vice President, asked Sarah if she would carry on in that vein, which she said she would. This caused Biden (and the media) to lose it, as she cited the Constitution. Biden, who actually teaches the Constitution, got it all wrong. They chastised Sarah for weeks though.

Article I, Section 1 makes it clear that the Vice President is the President of the Senate, and while only having a vote in case of tie, has actual powers within the Senate. In fact, during the last hours, when the Marxists were shoving ObamaCare down America’s throat, Biden stood ready, in his capacity as President of the Senate, to overrule the Senate’s parliamentarian, had the Marxists’ plans been thwarted by him.

Of course, that’s heavy stuff, and why should a man who had only been in the Senate for 35 years, and taught the Constitution on weekends, know all of this. Of course, Sarah Palin, the Governor from way up there in Alaska knew it!

Again, that’s heavy stuff. Sheriff Joe does a lot better when you just let him talk!

Here’s Vice President Smart Ass talking about that three letter word J-O-B-S

And who could ever forget Chuck Graham? Stand up Chuck!

While we could do this for hours!

I want to leave you with one of my all time favorites. Knowing she would be interviewing Sarah Palin, and taking a break from her anti-Palin advisers former Senator Sam Nunn and Council on Foreign Relations president Richard Haas, who coached her for the Palin interview, the Perky One did a softball interview with Joe Biden. This is Joe at his absolute gaffetastic best, just makin’ it up as he goes!

As Couric stares lovingly into his eyes, Good old Joe says:

When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed,. Look, here’s what happened.

Now I love this one on many levels. First, you got a two-fer. Both Biden and Couric are as clueless as they come. Can you imagine if that was Sarah Palin babbling that nonsense? Couric would have lost her mind right then and there! Instead, she studied up hard on Sarah and was aided by top Marxist-democrat operatives. It’s was almost like the Perky One worked for the DNC. Oh, wait ....

Anyhow, back to the fun. Biden got this so wrong it’s truly phenomenal. I mean a lesser person would have to work hard to do what just comes natural to Biden.

First off, when the Stock Market crashed, in 1929, Herbert Hoover was President. FDR was still the Governor of New York. Roosevelt wouldn’t take office until March of 1933. (presidential inaugurals used to happen in March)

Second, while television was in the concept stage, no such thing, in workable form, existed. FDR’s famous "fireside chats" were all broadcast over the radio. Radio was the way most Americans got their news and entertainment at home. This was true into the 1950's.

Roosevelt would indeed go on to be the first President to appear on television though. On April 30, 1939 NBC started broadcasting. This was opening day of the New York World’s Fair. This was a weak signal, and there were around 1000 viewers total.

NBC's experimental New York City station was licensed for commercial telecasts beginning on July 1, 1941.

Read more here.

In case you are wondering, the first televised presidential inaugural was Harry S Truman’s in 1949

As one can see, as shocking as it is to learn that Sarah Palin is a mere mortal, and stumbled while speaking, in the grand scheme of things, others have done far worse.

Don’t let the left wing and their media partners distract you from Sarah Palin’s strong and powerful message, or the positive contributions she is making to our world.

Anti-Palin Protesters: "I hate the Constitution!"

Leftist Lowlight Exhibit A

As pro- and anti-Palin protesters clashed at California State University Stanilaus just prior to Gov. Palin's fund-raising speech on June 25, 2010, one leftist called himself communist and said, "I hate the Constitution." The leftist anti-Palin protesters were loudly cursing her and and her supporters. One of their standard slogans of the day was "eat the rich". They displayed sexist signs referencing Gov. Palin's breasts, and expletive-laden signage including a sexual reference to TEA partiers.

Leftist Lowlight Exhibit B:

In this full-length video from the same event, leftists absurdly chanted: "Sarah Palin go away! Racist, sexist, anti-gay!" The reporter questioned, "how can Sarah Palin be sexist as a woman?" The protester's response was that "the Republican Party has been against womens' rights" and that Gov. Palin owes a debt of gratitude to "liberals and progressives who made her way easier." He claimed that she is "a little bit ignorant about womens' history."

Let there be Bold Differences, No Pale Pastels

The reporter noted a stark contrast between the the pro-Palin protesters and the leftists. Gov. Palin's supporters all had American flags. Only a single leftist had a very small flag. One leftist carried a piñata in the form of Gov. Palin's body. Piñatas are meant to be broken with a stick, which presumably is a fate this protester desired for Gov. Palin. Another carried a sign with at least one expletive on it. In front of that protester, a woman told the reporter that she did not think Gov. Palin was a true feminist and thought her policies were "anti-Christian."

He interviewed a pro-Palin protester who could not understand the sexist meme and factually stated that Gov. Palin's speech sold out and brought over $200,000 for Stanislaus, which helped fund scholarships and other programs. One pro-Palin protester reported that the leftists - who routinely claim to be for peace and against violence - threw a bottle of Gatorade at her group. Other pro-Palin protesters sung God Bless America. When asked why she supports Gov. Palin, one pro-Palin protester responded, "she's an American, she's a mother, she supports our soldiers, I support her values....she believes in the Constitution."

Microcosm of a Constitutional Crisis?

These two groups clashed in Gov. Palin's name. Ultimately, their respective protests may not have been about Gov. Palin at all. Did not one of the leftists say, "I am a communist. I hate the Constitution"? Did not our current President - an avowed leftist, a socialist - once say he thinks "the Constitution is a flawed document"?

The pro-Palin group meanwhile clearly stated one of the reasons they love and support her: "She believes in the Constitution."

Very dangerously, these clashing protests were quite likely about conflicting visions of our Constitution. Gov. Palin last week referred to an article written by Thomas Sowell who authored a book called none other than A Conflict of Visions. People got upset because he drew a parallel to our current political climate and the rise of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei - National Socialist German Worker's Party - otherwise known as "Nazis."

We are indeed facing a time of choosing: our Constitutional federated republic, or a socialist regime.

Choose.

Video - Governor Palin Visits Modesto Hair Salon

By Adrienne Ross - www.motivationtruth.com

While Governor Palin's visit to California to speak at Stanislaus University was much anticipated for some time, she did take some people in the state by surprise. The Modesto Salon beautician, who was called out of the blue, said she enjoyed styling the Governor's hair. While she worked on her, they talked about women in politics, the latest styles, and other fun things. She also said she was sweet and a good tipper.
